To be disappointed/peed off with CBeebies?

Today I bought my son the monthly CBeebies magazine and this was smack bang in the middle of it. It was supposed to be about doctors but this is just promoting cancer, heart disease, diabetes, ect. I'm no vegan but I know when I'm sitting there eating a cheese and egg sandwich that it's not good for me, yet this is stating it's vital to have 2 unhealthy groups of food each day to be healthy. This gos against the NHS, the WHO, and just science in general. I would have expected this 10 years ago but it's 2017 and we know better.

To be disappointed/peed off with CBeebies?

Ok I guess people don't understand nutrition
You're the one eating the cheese and egg sandwich petal.

upperlimit · 04/12/2017 21:00

I raise my kids on a strict diet of vegetables, superiority and black and white thinking.

Nothing tastes as good as winning.

TovaGoldCoin · 04/12/2017 21:00

Did someone say Big Pharma...? I always see that as a Really Big Farmer..... misses point of thread entirely

Watching Justin's House is more offensive than that centre spread. Besides those foods are a lot better for your children than McDonalds, crisps, sweets, etc.

LouLouLove · 04/12/2017 21:02

exactly what TisapityshesaGeordie said!!!

Zoomaa · 04/12/2017 21:03

You're right, that picture is bollocks.

They've missed off gin and chocolate

BrizzleDrizzle · 04/12/2017 21:03

They could have showed granary bread but other than that it looks fine to me, either way a cheese sandwich needs to be on plastic white bread or it's just not right.

AnachronisticCorpse · 04/12/2017 21:03

Im doing weight watchers and tbh eggs are pretty much my staple. When should I expect to keel over?

GruffaloPants · 04/12/2017 21:04

Yes. Please provide multiple peer reviewed studies that say moderate amounts of eggs, dairy and non-processed meat cause cancer, heart disease etc.

SparklyMagpie · 04/12/2017 21:04

C'mon then OP, what do you feed your child/children?

Clearly all of us apart from you have no idea about nutrition, so please fill us in

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 04/12/2017 21:04

Ok I guess people don't understand nutrition.

Not many people do, by your standards, then. And the NHS certainly doesn't, as they do not advocate a vegan diet.

Actually the NHS doesn't understand nutrition that well as they have mashed potato and orange juice marked as diabetes-friendly choices on hospital menus, but that's another subject.

Why are your children not vegan, at least, if you 'know' how terrible these other food groups are?

Ecureuil · 04/12/2017 21:05

Tell us then OP, where are we all going wrong? Where should our toddlers/pre schoolers be getting all their fat and protein from?
I’d love to see some peer reviewed studies, thank you.
Have you contacted the NHS to let them know their eatwell guidance is wrong and they’re giving us all cancer?

SittingAround1 · 04/12/2017 21:05

I love cheese. The cheesier the better mmmm

ButterfliesAreWeird · 04/12/2017 21:05

@blueskyinmarch there are plenty of healthy fats and proteins. Peanut butter is one of the best foods for that. They use a slightly modified version to save starving children in third world countries

Zoomaa that's where its all fucked up?

I need to know my daily nutritional allowance

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 04/12/2017 21:06

DS1 can't become vegan, because he has CF and needs the fat. He'd starve to death. Your "unhealthy" is his "healthy". I've been fighting against blanket definitions of "healthy food" for 22 years. I'm so glad Jamie Oliver wasn't fucking about with school dinners when he was at school.

tomatopuree · 04/12/2017 21:06

Shhhhhh. I can hear carrots screaming.... Shock

AnachronisticCorpse · 04/12/2017 21:06

Peanut butter?

You are literally killing the orangutans.

QueenieMum · 04/12/2017 21:07

Bring out your peer reviewed studies OP!

EdmundCleverClogs · 04/12/2017 21:07

They've missed off gin and chocolate

It seems to be missing a whole group actually- the ‘I’ve just had to sit through 5 straight episodes of Topsy and Tim, followed by Bing’ one. I think it would involve at least one pack of chocolate digestives, a large glass of wine and one Valium.

HattiesBackpack · 04/12/2017 21:07

upperlimit I think this might be my favourite post ever ! Love it Grin

Haffiana · 04/12/2017 21:07

OP you have food issues and you need to learn how to use google and discriminate. Take care not to promulgate your nonsense when your children are around.
