AIBU to ask MNHQ if we can have a trans discussion section?

Out of the first 10 threads showing on my AIBU page 4 of them are trans threads. There is seriously no escaping, please can they have their own board?

Yes, it's like complaining about how distasteful it was when Emily Davison threw herself under a horse and whining about why couldn't she do out out of their gaze?

.... OMG I read a line I didn't want to read. Nooooo

redbuss · 22/11/2017 11:05

Plus, every thread descends into the same old argument.

It's be interesting to post a thread which touches on trans issues (rather than feminist issues) and see if it doesn't end up in a feminist bunfight

TieGrr · 22/11/2017 11:09

YANBU

Nothing new is ever posted - it's just the same points made over and over again.

Damn those pesky feminists for caring about the rights of women enough to argue their own points instead of shouting for others to shut up and leaving the thread.

raisinsarenottheonlyfruit · 22/11/2017 11:09

Maybe because they're called stupid, ignorant or selfish?

I really don't think it is that. People start threads about how transphobic and hateful we all are. They get people patiently explaining why we're not anti trans, we're anti the TRA ideology. And asking questions like "please could you share your definition of a woman" but they don't stick around, they bugger off.

It's a darn site more respectful than your average AIBU thread and people stick around arguing the toss on those despite being called all sorts of names.

So no, I'm not buying it.

Care to share your definition of a woman? I'm intrigued. Because, you see, we're being told our definition - that biology defines your sex - is wrong. Well, OK, if It's wrong - what's the alternative? What is a woman?

OP: Quite aside from the rights and wrongs of the new topic, people will continue to post here, chat, and other places, either for traffic or because they don't check.

For instance this thread belongs in Site Stuff - why was it not posted there? Presumably for traffic?

(My vote would be for no separate topic, it covers too many issues)

I don't agree with a separate topic.

I didn't agree with sidelining Brexit in a separate topic either. We did and look what happened.

It's too important we can't afford to stick our heads in the sand.

Oh yes! Brexit is Mumsnets fault for having a separate board!

Gah it could all have been so easily avoided....

AssignedPerfectAtBirth · 22/11/2017 11:16

You have no point. All you are doing is pointing out posters who 'upset' you.

If you want to debate it, fine. Let's go. Don't expect everyone to play nice when we are getting told to STFU and be tidied away to a corner.

MrMeSeeks · 22/11/2017 11:17

You haven't upset meat all, i was agreeing with another poster that other posters don't want to post anymore due to posters being so hostile.
You just proved my point.

redbuss · 22/11/2017 11:17

Do you think someone could post a thread here involving someone who was trans (in Style and beauty for instance) without being shouted down for being trans?

I don't think so.

raisinsarenottheonlyfruit · 22/11/2017 11:18

Nothing new is ever posted - it's just the same points made over and over again.

That's not true. With the impending Gender Rights Bill and the trans rights activists ideology becoming ever more extreme there are new things all the time.

Also news such young trans activists assaulting a 60 year old woman protesting peacefully, and having the temerity to blame it on her because asking then why they were shouting about fighting terfs was an act of violence apparently.

Also a 19 year old trans"woman" being part of a homophobic hate campaign to bully a lesbian woman out of her office then being elected as a woman's officer.

Also that the press gave caught up with this being an issue of importance

redbuss · 22/11/2017 11:18

Assigned has a serious bee in her bonnet

AssignedPerfectAtBirth · 22/11/2017 11:18

Again, feelings. Make a point

Skarossinkplunger · 22/11/2017 11:18

AssignedPerfectAtBirth you are the exact reason why I ignore the trans threads. You are rude, aggressive and smug. You think you think you’re more educated than anyone who dares to think any differently than you and refuse to how anyone can have a different opinion.

redbuss · 22/11/2017 11:20

Assigned the point of the thread is how the boards are organised.

But there you are, banging your drum

SophieLMumsnet · 22/11/2017 11:21

Hi all,

Thanks for raising this - we really appreciate hearing all points of view.

As some of you know, this is something that's come up before. There isn't a separate Trans topic at the moment because we have concerns it would turn into a bit of a free-for-all, and we also don't want to restrict discussion to one place.

If anyone has any concerns at all, please do report to us and we're very happy to chat further. Flowers

BishBoshBashBop · 22/11/2017 11:22

Didums. Did I hurt you fweelings?

It's this sort of PA rubbish that leads to threads like this.

TieGrr · 22/11/2017 11:24

@raisins Tbf, I've stopped looking at most trans threads recently. I think the last one I read was the Topshop one. But from what I had seen, the first few posts would usually be about something topical - like the examples you gave - and then the thread turns into pages of arguing about the same points that have cropped up in every previous thread with occasional lip-service to the original topic.

AssignedPerfectAtBirth · 22/11/2017 11:25

You are too fucking right I have a bee in my bonnet red. I am fucking furious. I am sick and tired of being called a bigot because I don't want young girls to have to share changing rooms with grown naked men by people who say women will be attacked anyway so who care?

I am furious that young girls are being given breast binders and double mastectomies in their teens because they don't fit into a stereotype of what it is to be a woman.

I am disgusted that children are being drugged up and rendered sterile and on lifelong medication because they don't fit stereotypes.

Am yes, I'm fucking utterly livid to be told to get in the corner by other women who are inconvenienced by reading a fucking line on a webpage

Forgive me. Oh please won't you?

AssignedPerfectAtBirth · 22/11/2017 11:26

"AssignedPerfectAtBirth you are the exact reason why I ignore the trans threads"

Well ignore them, won't you?

redbuss · 22/11/2017 11:27

I get it - go start your own thread.

This one is about which discussions should have their own board

AssignedPerfectAtBirth · 22/11/2017 11:29

Nope.
