Fucking arsehole.

Not content with fat shaming his son and using the word “retarded” because he is an arsehole. His only worry about his son is that he might grow up far. He isn’t worried if this happens to his daughter as “there are uses for fat women”.

Fucking arsehole.

Latest article in Esquire magazine.

No Giles, you’re not funny or satirical....you’re a fucking arsehole.

www.esquire.co.uk/life/a18073/giles-coren-overweight-son/

I don’t care what MY son becomes as long as he isn’t a dickhead like you.

His poor, beautiful son Sad

I’m absolutely gobsmacked that anyone can think like that about their own child, let alone write about it.

The boy is far from fat, but that’s not the point: even if he was the size of a house, any remotely decent father would never, ever write something like that.

So perhaps it can be extrapolated that he is neither a remotely decent father nor a remotely decent human being.

Actually, fuck decency; the guy is an utter cuntweasel.

IChewPlants · 11/11/2017 00:28

What a shit nasty man

LinaBo · 11/11/2017 00:31

Do you seriously think he doesn’t care if his son grows up to be a crackhead?

Well, I've got an aunt who announced at a family BBQ that she'd rather her boys had cancer than being gay, because at least cancer had a chance to be cured... so I wouldn't be surprised if someone who hates fat people so much really did prefer his child was a crackhead rather than overweight.

limitedperiodonly · 11/11/2017 00:34

He's weird and nasty. He's always been weird and nasty. The best thing that could come from this is that it might stop some people on here creaming their panties over him.

DullAndOld · 11/11/2017 00:54

" it might stop some people on here creaming their panties over him."

have read most of this thread and haven't noticed anyone 'creaming their panties' tbh. Except possibly the Giles sockpuppet lol.

How awful. Not remotely satirical or amusing. The link to the other article is just the same. When his children are old enough to read they will be mortified at this. Vile excuse for a man.

NatMatCat · 11/11/2017 08:13

I started following Esther Coren on Instagram knowing nothing about Giles, and even though she clearly idolisises him he still comes across as prize twat. If that's the way he appears even through that lens then there's no hope for him.

Therealslimshady1 · 11/11/2017 08:15

He is my age, and he really reminds me of the men I used to work with in the City in the 90s, with the coke, claret and sexist attitude.

He is a bit of a relic, stuck perpetually in this 90s city boy mindset whilst the rest of the world moves on. He doesn't even understand that words like "retard" are offensive (and also very outdated,Giles) and it had to be removed from the piece by the editor Grin

Why oh why is he always in the Times with a big boring photo next to his big boring article?

Does anyone actually like his writing?

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 11/11/2017 08:24

His writing isn’t satire, he isn’t intelligent enough to do that.
He thinks he is, but it just comes across as something written by a sixth former whose trying to shock his teacher.
I agree with whoever said upthread that he comes across as being deeply afraid. He’s afraid because his father and sister were/are intelligent, funny and most importantly likeable. GC is non of those things, he’s a nasty, bitter little cunt who has never grown up.

If anyone wants really shocking, google his Esquire article on wanking. It’s truly depressing and god, I feel sorry for his wife and children.

TheAntiBoop · 11/11/2017 08:54

I think it's a prime example of why you should always discourage your children from following in your footsteps. If they are truly talented themselves they will get there anyway.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 11/11/2017 08:58

Here’s his “wanking” article. Only read if you have a strong stomach.

OVienna · 11/11/2017 09:06

therealslimshady he has been hilarious. Really. This writing is, however, awful. Just terrible. He seems to have lost it bigly. However, when I was reading it the style struck me as odd. It did occur to me to wonder whether it has been substantially rewritten/there is an odd editor at Esquire whp us driving this. He has never written things this awful in the Times.

OVienna · 11/11/2017 09:07

I mean these are terrible, terrible pieces. Maybe he's being paid so much he can retire after a couple years of it.

RosaTheOwl · 11/11/2017 09:27

Vienna, repeating myself
He's been writing like this for twenty years
Probably has a ton of money anyway

Squashit · 11/11/2017 10:14

I have read through several of his offerings and what strikes me is the arrested development.

He appears to have an utter obsession with sexualising and demeaning others as well as himself. It seems as if he can only look at others from the very narrow lens of what they are or likely to offer him or the world as sexual objects.

I am not surprised re his comments about not being concerned about his child being a drug addict as he was a habitual user himself.

I was shocked by the way he described his holiday with his daughter and how he even sexualised that. He needs professional help. Even if he wants to make excuses and use the satire angle - it is deeply worrying that his head went there and he felt it was an appropriate thing to write about. On any level.

I don’t buy this satire nonsense. He isn’t sophisticated enough a writer.

Has anyone else wondered if he has high functioning ASD? Very fixed long lasting obsession with his, er, personal pleasure/weight, socially awkward from a young age such that he has been abusing substances to be able to function and seemingly an inability to see how his behaviour impacts on others.

Just a thought. He would do well to explore that.

mrsRosaPimento · 11/11/2017 10:18

My ds1 is high functioning ASD and I’m really offended that you think that’s what’s wrong with Giles Coren. Ds1 would never describe people the way Giles does. Do more research on what ASD is.

ThisNameNow · 11/11/2017 10:22

I keep reading more of his articles and they get worse and worse. He really doesn't mind being seen as a nasty man. I find it quite shocking for someone who is so privilidged and educated.

I feel for his son. I wonder how Giles will respond if his son comes home from school complaining that his classmates are calling him a fat

It really is cruel to write that type of thing about your own son. It can't be unwritten.

His twitter comments about fucking the 12 year boy next door before killing him because of his drum playing are really, really not ok. If someone 'joked' about one of my kids like that on social media Id be beyond furious. He isn't stupid, he knows exactly what he is doing.

GC has written in another article that his classmates and teachers didn't like him because he used to show off to compensate for feeling stupid. (Something he blames on being small and young for the year).

He is still coming across as an angry show off.

Squashit · 11/11/2017 10:34

I know all about ASD is and how individual it is.

It has nothing to do with your son who is another individual who also happens to be on the autistic spectrum. He will be on it in his own personal way.

This doesn’t mean that because Giles Coran is nothing like your son he can’t also be on it.

I am looking at patterns in behaviour. Stop personalising it to make it about you.

ASD -those higher functioning often go years without being diagnosed due to a very set idea about what it is about. Your offence is misplaced.

Caprinihahahaha · 11/11/2017 10:40

Squashit

You have joined a thread where posters are talking about what a twat Coren is. You described his posts where he talks about his young daughter in sexualised terms, about violence and murderous thoughts and then you add 'have you wondered if he has ASD'

It's totally inappropriate and yes, pretty fucking offensive.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 11/11/2017 10:41

“His twitter comments about fucking the 12 year boy next door before killing him because of his drum playing are really, really not ok”

So he tweets about raping a 12 year old and writes about his son raping boys? How come he hadn’t been questioned by the police?

There’s something very wrong with this man. Right thinking people do not think like this.

Ktown · 11/11/2017 10:42

Am not defending him but wasn’t he an overweight child?

Fekko · 11/11/2017 10:43

Was it supposed to be funny on a 'see the dreadful things people say - I'm doing an Alf Garnet to hold s mittor up to the bigots and the ignorant'? Or is he being an arse?

I used to read his dad when I was a teenager and found him amusing. I quite like his sister. I don't think either would have had their careers without their surname though.

Caprinihahahaha · 11/11/2017 10:45

No Fekko
It wasn't satire. It's just Katie Hopkins written as if it's funny
It isn't

TreacleFarl · 11/11/2017 10:46

His poor son, I can't imagine ever thinking that about my DS let alone writing it down, editing it and handing it to an editor to publish. He's an utter dick. I've always disliked him.

To paraphrase Catastrophe:
He's worse than an arsehole, he's a hemorrhoid on an arsehole.

His status in life is purely down to nepotism. I feel really sorry for his family.
