NameChange I like your question. OP has lots to go on now, so what's next?

mygorgeousmilo · 04/11/2017 11:01

I’m on a professional course one day a week, and was just saying to my husband that I don’t understand why almost every single one of them stinks! Now only just becoming aware that some people don’t think you need to shower every day - WTF?! I dread getting paired up with a stinker, and you can tell it’s old BO and not anything else, we start at 9am so it’s not like they’ve been doing some kind of sport all day. Please, everyone who thinks you don’t need to wash and that you don’t smell - please think of your colleagues!!! At lunch time I literally take huge deep breaths by a main road as it’s preferable to the smell of other people’s bodies Angry

Mittens1969 · 04/11/2017 11:04

No, I rinse the flannel and then rinse myself afterwards. You don’t refill the bath over again, do you? Same thing really.

I wash my hair in the bath, so that makes it 2 baths in 3 days generally.

Migraleve · 04/11/2017 11:07

But you rinse it in dirty water! I don’t have baths, for that very reason.

JustCurious11 · 04/11/2017 11:17

I guess people just don’t smell it themselves when they smell. Like smelly hair. I can always smell someone’s unwashed hair when stood a normal distance away (as opposed to being brushed up against them.)

stevie69 · 04/11/2017 11:23

I shower every day—before going to work. Twice on Mondays and Fridays (evening gym class); three times on a Wednesday (two separate gym classes at two separate gyms).

I don't leave the house without showering. Ever Shock

DonkeyOaty · 04/11/2017 11:28

Unwashed hair gives me the boak.

Anyway, where is OP? Coo ee! Come and tell us your further thoughts.

paxillin · 04/11/2017 11:31

Twice a week is fine for kids pre-puberty but post-nappies. I would be surprised if a grown up doesn't smell with so little washing.

Dreams16 · 04/11/2017 11:39

Every other day I bath or sometimes it can be every day if I’m in work

But then i can’t stand the thought of smelling or not feeling clean

Dreams16 · 04/11/2017 11:40

Sorry meant shower not bath not a massive fan on baths don’t stay in them long enough to warrant running one 😂

Loctite · 04/11/2017 11:42

I have a shower every day as does dh.

However I work with someone who washes FAR less frequently and you can most definitely tell. Most days I can smell her hair across the room and it is visibly in need of a wash despite being tied up neatly (it looks oily at the roots and often has dandruff showing), her fingers nails are unkempt and often grubby and she regularly smells stale (cooking / unwashed etc) and worse, some days she reeks of BO depending on what fabric top she is wearing (unfortunately she favours synthetic materials)

The thing is she is young, married and has young children, so I am assuming (though I can't say for sure) that her family have not said it to her - the way people on here claim it would happen

Being around her has made me extra aware of how easy it is to slip into very bad habits and how unpleasant it is for everyone else around her.

BulletFox · 04/11/2017 11:48

Would cheerfully admit only once every 2/3 days at present! I have to move a distance in one week/two weeks (completion date not set), hence cannot get back to work fulltime as cannot commit. I'm far away from my friends.

When I do I take a shower first, then run a bath and slap on loads of masks, shave, trim nails etc, then after soaking for 20 minutes take another shower to wash off residue.

I emerge rejuvenated. My last boyfriend (who washes daily) complained that I made him feel dirty after I did this.

So I guess I'm a slob for a day

gamerchick · 04/11/2017 11:51

I can’t imagine washing my fanny twice a week. You mustn’t get much action OP. I know I certainly wouldn’t.

I can miss one day tops but no more than that. It takes minutes to have a shower.

FavouriteParksAreCarParks · 04/11/2017 11:54

Is this an attempt to get people to reveal their bathing habits?!

Ok I’m in! I take thrice-daily bathes. Once in the morning in unicorn-tears enriched water using a loofah. Lunch is followed by a dip in the Red Sea. Finally in the evening I shower using Sanex and a Toy Story themed flannel.

I wash my hair once a year on the queen’s birthday.

Rachel0Greep · 04/11/2017 12:00

Every other Christmas... grin you might be over doing it!

I know. I might give it a miss this Christmas even though I was due a shower Grin.

Sorry but this thread looks like a wind up to me.

Rachel0Greep · 04/11/2017 12:02

Now I'm jealous. I tried to get unicorn-tears (for my every other Christmas bath) but everywhere was sold out. Dammit!

LemonShark · 04/11/2017 12:05

I genuinely don't understand the idea of a strip wash? Surely it's more hassle than a shower, how do you rinse without getting water all over the floor? So many questions!

I shower and wash/condition hair every morning and have a bath a few evenings per week. The bath is more for enjoyment, the showers are obviously to get clean and wash my hair. Can't understand anyone who feels okay leaving the house without a full shower and hair wash each day. I'd feel so filthy!

speakout · 04/11/2017 12:11

A strip wash is a useful thing to learn.
When I was growing up we were very poor, no shower, baths were once a week affair as we simply couldn't afford the coal to heat up hot water every day.
We were taught- as were many of my cousins how to do a strip wash in a sink, with a flannel. soap and a small sink of water while not getting the bathroom floor wet.
Working from the face down, armpits, groin and feet if you were supple enough, washing then drying as you went.

I still sometimes have a strip wash.

Ecureuil · 04/11/2017 12:12

I don’t think they’d be particularly useful for me to learn. I’d rather just jump in the shower. And if I couldn’t do that for any reason, I imagine I could figure out how to wash myself.

FavouriteParksAreCarParks · 04/11/2017 12:14

I get mine off eBay. £69.99 for 250ml. They do last a whole week though so pretty good value. My silly husband questioned how genuine they were - perhaps, he suggested, they were merely tears from a griffin or Minotaur - but the seller has 100% positive feedback so I told him to wind his neck in!

JustDanceAddict · 04/11/2017 12:14

Agree a strip wash is a PITA - easier to shower!!

BulletFox · 04/11/2017 12:15

What's a strip wash...?

Lemon I know what you mean, and I'd wash everyday if I worked full time, but I'm stuck in the countryside with no-one to see me except for the farm shop, soldiers from the base and elderly neighbours.

Routine is thorough wash every 2/3 days, don't generally care what I wear

So I even feel happy nipping to the shop with sheep socks pulled up to the knee and ballet shoes.

Birdshitbridgegotme · 04/11/2017 12:16

I have a shower every morning.i know i will sound judgemental but I'm my opinion its disgusting to not wash every day. I dont understand how people do it. I would feel so grubby. I thankfully have never had thrush or bv

Bubba1234 · 04/11/2017 12:16

Shower twice a day in the morning & as soon as I come home I like to wash the day off me. If I go to the gym in the evening il have another one but I only wash my hair every second day. I usually have a 30 second shower each time the morning one is really just quickly doing my face under arms & gentials just to freshen up and wake up.
