Sat on a night out with the girls discussing personal hygiene..... I wash twice a week. Some are saying this is too much , some too little ?! Thoughts please ?
New poster, this is light hearted. Grin

They are trying to tell you and your friend discreetly that your not washing yourselves enough otherwise why bring a conversation up like that? Me and friends would never talk about that because there’s no need to. Of course you will have an odour everyone does if they don’t wash themselves it’s probably because you become ascustom to it that you no longer realise but trust me your friends do and are telling you. Twice a week is pretty grim tbh your hair will be greasy, dirt under your nails, bodily fluids BO etc. I wash daily sometimes twice on warm days in the summer. The only time I have missed a day is if I’ve been really poorly in bed with the flu but the next day I’ve went straight in the bath.

Ceto · 04/11/2017 08:20

OP, do you not even wash under your arms and round your nethers on the days you don't shower?

Oly5 · 04/11/2017 08:28

Twice a week? Gross
I shower every day, hair every 2/3 days

pilates · 04/11/2017 08:28

Bath and wash hair every day

makeourfuture · 04/11/2017 08:36

Please be mindful of water use.

DontFuckingSayIt · 04/11/2017 08:58

I think one's weight/build makes a real difference. I've never been with a man who washed daily Blush I must just attract scruffs. My daughter's dad and my current partner are quite overweight and absolutely honk after a day or so, whereas the guy I was seeing in between was slim and could go a week and be fine, and he did quite a physical job. I myself am rather fat and I shower every day and I always feel like I really need it. Quite often have a quick pits and bits wash in between too if I've been sweaty. Can't imagine getting into bed without having washed.

Juanbablo · 04/11/2017 09:00

Shower or bathe every day. Hair wash twice a week.

Dontknowwhattodonowok · 04/11/2017 09:02

@makeourfuture being mindful of water use equals how many showers per week?

zebedebe · 04/11/2017 09:02

Bath every evening with my baby. And often have a shower in the mornings too.

Twice a week doesn’t seem nearly enough!

uncoolnn · 04/11/2017 09:03

I shower every day. Bathe once a week maybe.

sofato5miles · 04/11/2017 09:06

I have a shower every morning, in the evening, if i am going out, and after every of exercise session. Sometimes that means 3/4 a day. Wash hair 4x a week.

sailorcherries · 04/11/2017 09:07

I wash my hair every other night, and shower every morning. This means some days I shower twice.
I shower every time I go to the gym (2-3 times a week).
Obsessive teeth brusher.
Try to have a bath once every two weeks, where I retreat with a book, bubbles and a bath bomb.

MuppetMagnet · 04/11/2017 09:07

I shower every morning and do my hair every other day as a rule. Every evening I strip wash at the wash basin. I never take a bath these days.

I do know this, as a 2 year old my son used to get these angry red rashes after a bath that would itch and be sore. The doctor said I was bathing him too much and suggested no more than 3 times a week. Even now, aged 10 he gets these flareups if he's spent a lot of time in water. The doc said that daily full body immersion in water strips the body of its natural oils as do most wash soaps. He advised using aqueous cream to wash with (sounds weird but it does work....think Dove Wink)

Migraleve · 04/11/2017 09:09

I once ended a newish relationship over this. She didn’t take on board anything I said about hygiene, and while I really really did like her, the physical aspect used to literally turn my stomach. There is something really vile about finding crusty bits on someone’s pubic hair. The stale sweaty urine smell is equally as disgusting. And the salty taste of sweat on someone’s skin Envy

Nah, please start to wash

kaytee87 · 04/11/2017 09:12

I’m not sure I believe this is real but....

I shower every morning and sometimes a bath at night. Used to wash my hair daily but have extensions in just now so twice a week at the moment for hair.

strugglingtodomybest · 04/11/2017 09:13

To summarise every other thread that has gone before about frequency of washing.

There will be shit loads of posters telling you that you are insert insult of choice here for not washing every day.

There will be a handful of posters telling you that you are insert insult of choice here for not washing at least twice every day.

There will be a fair amount of posters telling you that it's fine not washing every day if you don't need to.

Then all these posters will fight amongst themselves as to who is right, with no consideration at all to the fact that we are all different and therefore will need to wash as often as we, individually, need to.

Ttbb · 04/11/2017 09:15

Once a day minimum

acornsandnuts · 04/11/2017 09:17

Nobody who smells thinks they do.

Having set days to wash also seems a bit grim. What happens when on any of the other days you do a particular vigorous house clean or it’s hot and sticky or you have sex?

Daily showers takes no time at all. Hair washed, lather up soap, head to toe wash out and dried. I don’t feel human without a morning shower.

MrTrebus · 04/11/2017 09:19

Gross gross gross gross. This conversation surely didn't happen in that way?? I cannot see how someone said yeah that's fine I only wash once a week in a group of women on a night out?? Seriously?! I am flabbergasted.

blueskyinmarch · 04/11/2017 09:19

So if you are going for a night out on Friday or Saturday you don’t wash? That is both grim and weird.

Nikephorus · 04/11/2017 09:22

Every morning - when we had bugger all water pressure for a couple of days I felt dreadful. After anything grubby like gardening or jetwashing, more in the summer, and quite often another shower in the evening to relax me. And I'm not a sweaty person. Must be rank only washing twice a week. I hope you have clean clothes daily OP. I was at school with a girl who obviously rarely washed - she stank. It was really unpleasant but she must have been oblivious so don't rely on your own nose. And your friends aren't necessarily going to tell you directly - they're trying to tell you without embarrassing you hence the "general" conversation.

Penfold007 · 04/11/2017 09:24

I'm prone to dry itchy skin, I shower everyday using the MN Method. I use a bar of soap, Pears is a favourite, and a buff puff. Wet body lather up soap on the buff puff and pay particular attention to pits, bits etc, rinse well. Dry throughl and apple deodorant. My skin is much happier now.

IrritatedUser1960 · 04/11/2017 09:25

Every morning I take a shower and when I get home from work otherwise I would just not feel clean. My hair is very dry so I only need to wash it once a week but if it isn't looking fresh I'll wash that more often.
Also I work in the NHS so I have to be very clean.

cherrycola2004 · 04/11/2017 09:31

Shower and hair wash daily
Bath 1 - 2 times a week for a leisurely soak in the evening.

LinoleumBlownapart · 04/11/2017 09:33

I don't have a bath. It depends where you live. I'm in a hot country so summer can be twice or three times a day under a tepid shower. Winter I shower before work every morning but don't feel the need in the night as it's cold, so no sweat.
Most skin conditions flare up if the skin is dirty or dry, even water with no soap is better than nothing. My son had severe eczema until we moved. He occasionally gets itchy and now and just needs to moisturiser, but he can use mild soap rather than prescription epaderm cream to wash. He was once admitted to hospital when we lived in London, they bathed and then wet wrapped him and told me dry and unwashed skin was the worst thing, so no soap but never to leave him without cleaning the skin with water at least, especially in a city where the dirt and grime on the skin will make it react badly. Also they said never extract cream from the pot with your fingers but always use a clean spoon and put it on your fingers that way, as the bacteria from even washed fingers will fester in the pot and cause worse flare ups when you next use the cream.
