Sat on a night out with the girls discussing personal hygiene..... I wash twice a week. Some are saying this is too much , some too little ?! Thoughts please ?
New poster, this is light hearted. Grin

Just out of curiosity OP, how old are you? Please don’t be embarrassed though...I think this might be a generational thing. My mum only has a bath once a week and a ‘strip wash’ on other days. It’s quite common for people over a certain age I believe. However, I do think that if this conversation was brought up by colleagues ‘casually’ you might consider that it might not have been quite ‘so casual’ and they could, in fact, be trying to tell you and your other colleague that you need to shower more often perhaps? In close working environments, hygiene is important, and whilst we can’t smell ourselves, we can smell others body odours quite distinctly. I would definitely err on the side of ‘more showers’ if it was me! 💐 for you xx

pointythings · 05/11/2017 18:09

I shower every day unless I have to be up at stupid o'clock on Sunday for archery. I don't feel properly fresh and awake without a shower. I can do shower and wash my hair in about 5 minutes.

WolfieInTheWoods · 05/11/2017 18:13

I shower every morning. I have a shower/bath in the evening if I'm going to put on clean pyjamas/have clean sheets or just want to feel fresh.

I know that some people have a bath/shower every night and not in the morning, but I feel that after spending 8+ hours in a warm bed, you need to wash in the morning.

I think you need to be washing more OP

AreThereAnyUsersnamesLeft · 05/11/2017 18:16

I think that's the crux of it Wassock, if you bathe twice a week and don't wash at all in between that is very different from having a strip wash on the days you don't bathe...

littlebird7 · 05/11/2017 18:24

Shower every morning including hair, bath to unwind every evening.

I could not leave my house without a shower unless I was being carried out in a coffin. Basic hygiene only takes three minutes a day why wouldn't you shower every day?

Delatron · 05/11/2017 18:26

I think someone hit the nail on the head in that a strip wash just isn't very pleasant. I lovely hot shower is very enjoyable.

Agree, I think your colleagues were trying to tell you something. Twice a week is not enough.

JetCityWoman · 05/11/2017 18:29

I bathe when I feel greasy so depending on the time of the month its every day or every other day. I only wash my hair 2x a week though.

Chickoletta · 05/11/2017 18:29

Shower every morning and bath or shower before bed every night. Brush teeth 3 times per day. Twice a week is a bit gross in a world of busy lives and central heating IMO.

jarhead123 · 05/11/2017 18:29

Bath 5 times a week, shower 3 times a week post run :)

BITCAT · 05/11/2017 18:33

Showering or bathing everyday, washing hair everyday is bad for your hair and skin. It removes oils from the hair and skin designed to protect it. However washing and keeping yourself clean inbetween showers is important too.

kastiekastie · 05/11/2017 18:35

it kind of depends on what's going on with your hormones/your age/what stage of your menstrual cycle (if you have them), but I have a friend who washes every other day and I'm afraid that even though she doesn't smell, her bedroom does. How much did the person wash who thought 2 x a week was too much? Can't imagine...

Sallystyle · 05/11/2017 18:38

I am a fan of the strip wash. Probably because I did it so much as a child.

I don't like showers really, so if I just need to freshen up a strip wash is good enough. I guess it is more fuss than just getting in the shower logically, but for some reason it just seems easier. I know that doesn't really make sense.

I only owned a shower when I moved into this house, so for years it was just baths and strip wash.

littlebeebumble · 05/11/2017 18:40

I shower every night before bed and put deodorant on after, I can't stand the thought of getting into bed feeling dirty! I'll shower in the morning too if it's that time of the month or if it's been a hot night as I tend to sweat during the night more during those times and I end up feeling like I need to freshen up again.

Despite doing that I still get paranoid when I smell BO out in public as I'd HATE to be that person, I like knowing i'm freshly washed and smelling nice every morning! I really don't know how you could wash just twice a week and not smell at all! 🤢

PandorasXbox · 05/11/2017 18:42

I can’t get my head around strip washes being less fuss than a shower not to mention less hygienic. The time you can shower and be clean all over is probably quicker than standing in front of the sink sloshing water about. It doesn’t make sense.

Tippz · 05/11/2017 18:43

Washing twice a week? PMSL! Grin

Does anyone actually believe this? Grin

Everyone washes every day. And most people SHOWER every day!

streetlife70s · 05/11/2017 18:47

Nah. I agree Tippz. I think this was posted just to start a bun fight.

Coastalcommand · 05/11/2017 18:48

Shower every other day, bath once a week (mostly just to relax!).

Debbie73 · 05/11/2017 18:48

I don’t bathe only shower . if I don’t have at least 2 showers , morning and night I feel nasty . Can’t believe someone would only wash twice a week !

silverychicken · 05/11/2017 18:49

Bathe or shower, morning and night, every day, bathe if I’m not washing my hair that morning...I didn’t realise everyone else didn’t too, no wonder our water bill is so large compared to others !!

Flexi31 · 05/11/2017 18:50

Wash daily and hair wash weekly as I have very thick curly hair and that is the best way to treat it. Daily or more regular washing strips the hair of essential oils and makes it even more unruly.

aveline161 · 05/11/2017 18:51

All these posters saying 'you think you don't smell but you do'- EVERYONE is different. I would shower maybe 3 times a week, sometimes more. I have had to have managerial conversations with team members who ACTUALLY have a hygiene issue (only office work). I know full well I do not smell (considering my other half is a religious shower every day person), the difference between smelly/dirty and normal is not about a daily shower.

I also agree Tippz bun fight and competitive showering thread

BakedBeans47 · 05/11/2017 18:53

Shower every day, hair 2/3 times a week as it’s very dry

Daisymaybe60 · 05/11/2017 18:55

Shower every morning, and again in the evening if I'm going out and want to freshen up. Lovely long bubble bath instead about once a month. Hair washed just twice a week though, as I hate doing it. Thank goodness for dry shampoo. Strip washes are vile and messy and only to be done when your water's cut off.
