Sat on a night out with the girls discussing personal hygiene..... I wash twice a week. Some are saying this is too much , some too little ?! Thoughts please ?
New poster, this is light hearted. Grin

never mind balancing on one leg and trying to wash my hair.

Not even attempting that as a strip wash. My mum is coming over twice a week to get me into the bath and wash my hair for me Grin

Bluntness100 · 05/11/2017 10:33

Jaques, you’re lucky, my husband attempted to wash my hair once and nearly drowned me Grin

Somanyshoes · 05/11/2017 10:40

Shower every morning and every night. Wash hair 2-3 times a week. I couldn't go a day without having a shower, I'd feel yuck. Each to their own, DH is the same as me too. Mind you, I haven't had a bath in over 10 years, I find them boring and I can't be arsed to hang around waiting for them to fill up. It's a shame as we have the most humungous bath at home. Grin

speakout · 05/11/2017 10:42

Bluntness100 my OH has a water allergy.
Having a bath or shower causes intense discomfort for 3 to 4 hours afterwards.

Bluntness100 · 05/11/2017 10:46

Oh that’s awful speak out, in that instance of course he doesn’t have showers, but maybe a little different to those who can but chose not to?

speakout · 05/11/2017 10:51

Bluntness100 it's fine, but I am simply pointing out that it is possible to mainatin good hygiene standards with a strip wash. My OH never smells unclean.

ferrier · 05/11/2017 11:24

There may be some correlation between those two statements Wink

JustBeingJobless · 05/11/2017 11:29

Shower pretty much daily (if I’m having a lazy weekend on my own I might not bother one day, or if my back or head are playing up and I can’t stand, but will still have a wash), and wash hair about 3 times a week.

Delatron · 05/11/2017 11:57

To the strip washers? Do you get cold strip washing? Do you stand there naked in the bathroom doing it? Disabilities aside is it to save time or because you don't like getting wet?

I love the refreshed feeling after a warm shower.

JacquesHammer · 05/11/2017 12:00

Wrap towel around waist. Wash top half. Pop on towelling robe. Do bottom half, dry immediately.

Don't particularly get cold but my heated towel rail is fabulous at hearing the room.

Cambionome · 05/11/2017 13:15

But why, JaquesHammer, why?? Do you not have a shower? How do you do your back? Are you one of these people who stands on one leg to wash your feet? Confused

And, basically, what is the fucking point?? Why not just get in the shower?

steff13 · 05/11/2017 13:31

Wow, that really seems like so much more work than a shower.

Redglitter · 05/11/2017 13:32

I just don't understand the logic behind a strip wash. Surely the time it takes you you'd be just as quick jumping in the shower.

ferrier · 05/11/2017 13:33

Because a strip wash is quicker. And yes you can do your back and feet if you still have reasonable mobility.
It's not something I do, I like my baths too much, but can totally see why some prefer it.

steff13 · 05/11/2017 13:36

Eh, if I'm not washing my hair or shaving my legs I can shower in less than 5 minutes.

Ecureuil · 05/11/2017 13:41

Even if I am washing my hair I can shower in less than 5 mins!

JacquesHammer · 05/11/2017 13:54

Because as I have said on at least two occasions in this thread I am currently UNABLE to get into the shower due to an accident and being in plaster.

So "the fucking point" is to remain clean whilst I can't have a shower Hmm

paxillin · 05/11/2017 14:05

I used to do strip washes when I was younger and lived in a flat without a bathroom. There was a toilet and a kitchen sink. Not every MNetter has lived all their life with full mod-cons. Not every MNetter has lived all their life in a wealthy part of the world, either.

ferrier · 05/11/2017 17:20

No way I can shower and dry in 5 minutes.

Bluntness100 · 05/11/2017 17:25

I can shower and dry in five mins, i can’t do a good stip wash in five mins though. Takes me a good fifteen with all the changing water, rinsing Off, contorting to try to do my back getting your foot in the sink malarkey,, then drying not just me, but the bloody floor as well.

Also a strip wash isn’t very pleasant to be honest.

Lovelymess · 05/11/2017 17:27

Shower every other day, wash pits and bits in between

theSnuffster · 05/11/2017 17:46

Shower and hair wash every day. Very occasionally I'll miss a day perhaps if I'm extra busy or really poorly- then I'll just have a wash with a flannel instead.

meXem · 05/11/2017 18:06

Bath/hair wash/shave once a week
Pits/face/neck every day

I don’t have the time or money for the luxury of a bath full of water every night. My hair would be an uncontrollable dry frizzy mess if I washed it more often. I do not gym/jog/excercise/get sweaty. In the summer I strip wash every day.

I am always clean, presentable and “non smelly”

Every ‘body’ is different if it works for you and you’re clean and healthy, why should it matter ‘how often’?

Lellikelly26 · 05/11/2017 18:07

At least every day, most days twice a day as I exercise daily and also love a soak in the bath, have a shower every morning.

Lellikelly26 · 05/11/2017 18:08

Wow so many dirty people around 🤢
