I can't stand either type of instamum. The #mummyneedswine mum or the #lovemyboys mum. Both equally irritating on Instagram.

Well maybe not the alcohol ones as I don't drink

This thread makes me so glad we decided to keep our DD off all social media. who knows where the crazy relatively new social media phenomenon is going to end up down the line

I like Mrs Meldrum (and Mr!) as well as Emily Norris. Both seem genuine

What a shame it is that some of these lovely young mummies and daddies are so busy blogging their every wet fart that their own families (who may perhaps be not quite as 'pretty' as they) don't get a passing wet wipe for the aforementioned strewn avocado....

I always feel the need to defend MN. Can remember being on here in the darkest throes of PND feeling like the worst person ever, only to post and discover a multitude of kind, lovely people saying "it's ok, we have felt this way too".

It was me who was asking why follow people you don't like. I genuinely don't understand this, I'm asking because I want to understand.

So, you follow or look at someone because you find them annoying?

DoomGloom I know on mine, those I've unfollowed still come up on the search and recent posts feed. So they often catch my eye. I started following them for a reason, so some things will stand out more

I think "just unfollow" is a bit simplistic TBH, it's like the whole "omg u guys are just jealous, ignore the haters".

I don't follow Donald Trump, I still think his tweets are ridiculous.

I guarantee there's an influx of fan girls on the way.

I follow people I don't like. Absolutely. If Donald trump had an Instagram account I'd be all over it like a rash.

I don't follow SV mothervulva so wouldn't have seen her stories.

But I don't understand why we need to stop discussing the valid points because she said so.

^the overexposure of children on public sites which could be a safety risk
^the non declaration of free gifts/sponsored posts, so things look like they're their everyday life
^the pressure on following parents to reach those same status of clothing and housing, because they're "real" after all
^wtf a social influencer is as a job

Donald's daily stories of presidential mishaps from every day life would be like crack to me.

If you don't follow them, how are they on your radar? Just you remember what they posted previously?

At the moment I am mostly following drag queens, so perhaps the smug/glam effect of the instamums is lost on me because not one of them is mopping up baby sick wearing thigh high fuck me boots, a massive blonde wig and enough make up to sink a battle ship.

Doom I follow lots of drag queens on Instagram too! Wonderful escapism and glamour!
