Some weirdo I met on a dating site claimed he used a different internet to what everyone else uses

Kinda paranoid he may have been able to snoop on me snooping on him . Googling potential dates is normal right?! I thought everyone did it and just didn't admit it

But why would he say that? Could he have been?

There is the Dark web but I don't know how it is accessed or anything. Am intrigued to know if anyone else does.

Well there is a darknet, where criminals and paedophiles allegedly hang out. Apparently very difficult to access. Not sure that helps you though!

Ive heard of the dark net but I wouldnt venture there. Even if I knew how. And id be a bit suspicious of someone who did use it. Although that may be my paranoia. I just dont understand what legitimate use you could find on there that you wont find on the "normal" internet

There is no 'different internet'. If he really meant that, he is either:

  • mad
  • a massive liar
  • trying to wind you up or scare you
  • hinting at use of the 'Dark Web' (but that isn't actually a 'different internet' as such, it's illegal websites for things like drugs, guns and child porn that are accessed through specific software that covers user's tracks)

He said his job was security. I assumed that meant he stood in a shopping centre or worked nights as a bouncer though

He was definitely a weirdo and incredibly paranoid but just wondered why so much with me. I didn't think I had a stalker vibe but maybe I did

He could mean the dark net, rather than the Internet. Not sure why he'd think that was a great advert for him as a potential date.

Not true. It has a bad reputation because criminals and paedophiles use it, but I know people who use it simply because they don't want to be tracked (they're not doing anything illegal, it's just google and other companies keep a shitload of info on you you'd be horrified to know about), or because they want to download torrents more safely.

Mahoosive drip feed but there was a time I was waiting to see if he'd read a WhatsApp and kept checking to see if he was online

I don't think I was stalking as much as just anxious and curious about how keen he was or wasn't to interact

Anyways it's all moot as we never dated and in hindsight he was a narcissistic twat although he looks pretty from photos

However he called me out on it and said I had been looking at his WhatsApp. Yeah I had. But I made sure I wasn't "...typing" so how the fuck did he do this?

I can't tell, would love to know

Fantasyfumble He knew becuase he is part of this century where people obsess about seeing if other people are online, when they were last online, have read sent messages and if they are replying or ignoring.

Yes @LoyaltyAndLobster he was threatening me if I ever bought trouble to his door he'd come after me.

Had no intention of doing so and was done with his paranoia and rather confused about it

I hadn't done anything I didn't think we've all been guilty of doing out of curiosity but generally wouldn't admit (google, wondering if was online on social media)

Again, not necessarily true. Likely, sure, but the dark web has other non-prerverted uses.
