Kinda paranoid he may have been able to snoop on me snooping on him . Googling potential dates is normal right?! I thought everyone did it and just didn't admit it

Oh yes, they do. You can easily stay anonymous on the dark web via torrenting; torrenting actually improves overall anonymity by providing more cover traffic.

Perhaps you mean sites on the dark web hosting torrents. There are some. Of course you can't access them via Tor and download speeds are appalling for anything other than small images or documents.

Private trackers are the best way to get P2P files with anonymity.

My family use the dark web to download films and TV series, although it's illegal it's not particularly sinister if you know what you're doing.

The dark web isn't necessarily bad or evil. It depends on how you use it - the difference is there's no restriction. For anyone curious,
You just download the Tor browser like any other and use what are called "onion sites".
You can go on all kinds of sites, social networks, conspiracy theories and unfortunately I know there are market place type sites that do sell unsavoury things (I'm talking small quantities of drugs via post, I've never looked into anything worse than that because I think I'd drop dead if I saw anything very bad).
It's kind of like saying that anyone who drives a car is bad because someone once ran someone over on purpose.
Newsflash: you can access unsavoury things on bog standard Mozilla Firefox, it's just easier to get caught there.
I use the dark web for reading conspiracy theories. I believe some, piss myself at others and find it a pretty interesting experience

The only thing I can think is that if you kept going into his message thread to check what time he was last on, even if you didn't type it may come up briefly for a second that you are typing on his screen.

However that would make him even more weird as he would have to be staring at his open whatsapp for hours to see you briefly check his thread.

That or he thinks online is online on his thread only. Not that you have other people on there and its a general online. Which could be likely as he thinks there are two internets. Agh but then you did say you didn't have that on.

This thread is ridiculous, Tor isn't only for paedophiles and criminals! Using tor is perfectly legal, it's just a different browser so works the same way as google, only google doesn't show you all the search results, only the ones they want to. I used it legitimately as part of my job role previously. No need to "run a mile" from people using it!

I dont know how you access it , but there is a thing called the Dark web and its sounds really horrible - used by perverts mostly ( from what i have heard/ read) and often referenced if you watch any police documentaries. They often do live streaming of things i believe.
I am sure that hackers can go onto other people's websites too.

It sounds like you are well shot of him. I know several people who use the dark web, they are all super paranoid conspiracy theorists and use it mainly to order illegal drugs to be posted to their addresses, which probably accounts for at least some of the paranoia. I would personally avoid dating anyone who used it, in the same way I would avoid men who use prostitutes.
