Wedding First Dance

TheCatOfAthenry · 04/08/2017 18:31

Getting married to DP next July.

I feel doing a choreographed YMCA, Macarena or ShaddapaYaFace would be spectacular. He disagrees.

We have discussed the possibility of omitting it entirely, but are still looking for common ground.

AIBU or is he BU? Any alternative suggestions?

I think it should just be a communal Oops Upside Yer Head.

ShutUpBaz · 04/08/2017 18:44

Choreographed wedding dances are cringy! Sorry! Not helpful.

RhubardGin · 04/08/2017 18:45

Please tell me you're being sarcastic!!

😂

CoxsOrangePippin · 04/08/2017 18:48

The Ketchup Song, with full audience participation of course

Notbleedinglikely · 04/08/2017 18:55

I'd just have a quick smooch on the dance floor to something you both like.

MissBax · 04/08/2017 18:56

Neither is BU - you just have different preferences

PotteringAlong · 04/08/2017 18:57

Kylie Minogue and the locomotion?

PotteringAlong · 04/08/2017 18:57

Or Thriller. Go on, please do thriller... Grin

Penny4UrThoughts · 04/08/2017 18:57

May I suggest The Birdie Song, Agadoo or the Superman Song?

Mumof56 · 04/08/2017 18:58

Y ABU Cringey at best and worse again if one half is forcred in to doing it.

PotteringAlong · 04/08/2017 18:58

do it like this one and post it on here for us

Salmotrutta · 04/08/2017 18:59

What happened to just shuffling around in an embarrassed fashion to the Anniversary Waltz or other suitably waltzy tune?

I've never been to a wedding with a choreographed first dance.

S'not fair Sad

loveulotslikejellytots · 04/08/2017 18:59

Choreographed dances are cringey, but not if they are done to take this piss out of those cheesy choreographed dances! Do it! But upload the video here after!

ilovesooty · 04/08/2017 19:00

If he wants to do something tasteful and inconspicuous and you want to do that I doubt there is much common ground.

x2boys · 04/08/2017 19:08

X post MoreGrin

EccentricPickle · 04/08/2017 19:09

You should do "The Routine" from Friend's. I wish we had done it TBH.

We didn't do a first dance.

EccentricPickle · 04/08/2017 19:10

Friends! Fucking autocorrect thinking it knows better than I do! Angry

TheCatOfAthenry · 04/08/2017 19:11

I suggested Thriller too. He was not having it.

We could shuffle, but I'm a flash kind of lady who needs to strut her stuff.

Waltzing to Gangnam Style is a kind of middle ground?

MirandaWest · 04/08/2017 19:12

We danced to a song which isn't a typical wedding song, but it had a slow beginning and then got faster. Was great fun Grin

x2boys · 04/08/2017 19:14

Cha cha slide?

Wh0Kn0wsWhereTheTimeGoes · 04/08/2017 19:29

Omit it entirely, we did. I'd had enough of being the centre of attention by then.

nothingtodotoday · 04/08/2017 19:33

Where is the wedding? - google The Grand March - This is what we often start a wedding with in Scotland.

Ellieboolou27 · 04/08/2017 19:33

Nothing flashy about doing a choreographed ymca dance, it reeks of cheese and tack, I'd be embarrassed watching it! YABU
