I HATE summer!! Being on winter

ManifestingMyDreams · 14/06/2017 18:49

Just wondered does anyone else HATE the summer and prefer winter months?

I hate being too hot and not being able to cool down, I hate how easy it is to get dehydrated, I hate how grumpy it makes my DC and I hate being sweaty and sticky. I could go on.

Don't get me wrong I like a bit of sun as opposed to rain but not the heat and humidity.

I like winter, being cosy and warm when it's cold outside and the build up Christmas Smile

AIBU to want to hibernate until September? Lol

Yes! I have deep yearnings for winter at this time of year. Main problem is that I have very white skin and having to slather myself in sun cream several times a day is a pain in the bum. And no matter how well I rub it in it still makes me look like a snowwoman. Hmm

@notknownatthisaddress they really do need an edit button, couldn't even delete the thread to write it again and correct it lol

But can we have a proper winter with snow?

Yes please! Didn't get any that I saw last winter.
OP, I've always preferred winter to summer. I love rain, I love snow, I love cosy oversized cardi's and dressing gowns, I love the dark nights. I love the celebrations in the colder months (Bon Fire, Halloween.) and most of all I love Christmas! Xmas Grin I was actually searching for Christmas stuff (Fridge magnets, mouse mats, mugs.) on Ebay last night, can't wait!

PragmaticWench · 14/06/2017 19:24

I burn in minutes so summer is a sweaty and sticky affair where I'm covered in sunscreen or hiding indoors. I completely dread it.

The light mornings and evenings are lovely but the main part of each day is just hell.

ManifestingMyDreams · 14/06/2017 19:24

@ChristmasSeacow aww I feel for you Sad

@Amethyst975 at least in winter we can all look like milk bottles together lol

Not a fan of spring or summer. Bloody tree pollen gets on my nerves making me ill from February til about July. I'm alright after that. Love the windy and rain.

PlymouthMaid1 · 14/06/2017 19:29

Where are you that it is so hot. Not that warm here at all though we have finally seen the strange yellow orb in the sky.

toffee1000 · 14/06/2017 19:44

You're def not the only one. Half of Mumsnet seems to hate summer. I don't. Autumn and winter are bloody miserable, the weather is just depressing, it gets dark at 4pm. Christmas is one day out of about six months. It never snows.

Highalert · 14/06/2017 19:53

Posters on MN have a romanticised idea of autumn and winter. Grey miserable dark days is the reality.

MrsD79 · 14/06/2017 19:58

Eeekkk its 32 degrees tomorrow- west london. Lord help me. Someone please take my kids to school and pick up. I will pay you in booze and food.Wink

toffee1000 · 14/06/2017 20:06

I agree Highalert. Summer never lasts that long in Britain. There's a reason people joke about summer lasting two weeks.

ShelaghTurner · 14/06/2017 21:45

That's rubbish. The last few years it's been pushing 30° from June to September down here in the SE. That's a bloody long time when you hate it. But you're not allowed to hate summer...

Katedotness1963 · 14/06/2017 21:51

I'm with you OP! Bloody hate hot weather. I've done nothing for two days because it's too hot. And I can't sleep at night because it's too hot. I'm knackered. I'm sweaty. My skin looks awful because it's greasy. I'm red all the time. My hair is plastered to me. There's only so much you can take off (especially if you're a short, fat, middle aged woman) before you look really, really bad. I don't go out because I'm embarrassed. Cooking is torture, the house doesn't need the addition of the cooker/oven.

Roll on cool/cold/snowy weather!

IonaNE · 14/06/2017 21:51

OP, what country are you in? Not the UK, I'm guessing, it never gets hot here...

The80sweregreat · 14/06/2017 21:51

Hate this heatwave. Roll on autumn.

Yes! Me! Look at my name! I hate summer and hot weather, it makes me feel slow and lethargic

GeillisTheWitch · 14/06/2017 21:56

YANBU. Summer can feck off with its weeds and wasps and mornings where its light at 4am meaning that's you awake far too early.

MrsJBaptiste · 14/06/2017 21:56

Are you summer haters all down South? Up here (Yorkshire) we've had quite a few nice days and a couple of hot ones but it's hardly blazing and not like you lot are going on about!

SuperBeagle · 14/06/2017 21:58

I love both in equal measures.

I live in a rural part of Australia, and one of the only places in Australia where it snows. So I get the best of winter (and work at a ski resort in a national park, so come on, I can't complain), but spring and summer are to die for. The weather is perfect. Sun shining, no clouds, warm weather, but it cools down at night (unlike in other places) and there's no humidity (unlike 90% of the rest of the country). Love it.

I'm looking forward to summer BUT we're going to be in the UK all of December, so missing out on a month of summer.

MissMurielStacy · 14/06/2017 22:00

I hate the summer too, can't wait for Autumn and Winter!

TractorComesFirst · 14/06/2017 22:01

YANBU hayfever is making me miserable! Sad

toffee1000 · 14/06/2017 22:01

June to September is only four months. You get six-eight months of the weather you like.

isseywithcats · 14/06/2017 22:03

nooo you are being so unreasonable i love the summer,
i start worj at 7.30 am so no going to work in what feels like the middle of the night then dark again not long after i get home
