Opinion: Trump corrupts one Republican after another t.co/on6VwjQUCZ

Beware of who your friends are.
This warning has never been so true for Republicans.

cozietoesie · 15/05/2017 17:34

As I said. 'Pork barrel politics'.

BREAKING: The Trump Administration's attorney is on CNN right now arguing in court in Seattle that nothing Trump said as a candidate matters

MrsT2007 · 15/05/2017 17:48

I think it's just new: I do wonder whether these guys chase off down rabbit holes on false info too.

Do I think she's like a frenetic squirrel in the middle of the road? Yes. Do I also think she's pin sharp and exceptionally clever? Yep.

Just trying not to buy into any 'it'll be over soon' hyperbole, and follow those with some cred.

Claude Taylor clearly does have serious insider info after the tweet before the FBI raids last week.

MrsT2007 · 15/05/2017 17:48

Oh dear.

Trump's lawyer is going to be working terribly hard, isn't he?

That's not a great start.

Lweji · 15/05/2017 18:06

Hannity may be right on this.

"Instead, I think every week the president should tweet out all of his accomplishments going back to Day One. Update people daily about what he's doing and what he's accomplishing."

It would mean far fewer tweets. Grin

And less chance to start WWIII

thehill.com/homenews/media/333271-hannity-trump-should-tweet-his-accomplishments-instead-of-press-briefings?amp=1

cozietoesie · 15/05/2017 18:09

Hannity wants fewer tweets. (And did you notice that this would be in lieu of press conferences - which themselves would purportedly be in lieu of the daily pressers?

Lweji · 15/05/2017 18:14

Yes, I did notice.

Quite frankly, press conferences and the daily pressers only serve as propaganda and to catch them in contradiction. But Trump can manage it by himself.

It's kind of fun to watch them squirm, though.

The conferences are mostly so that they have the opportunity to clarify their position and to counteract any accusations. If they want to forgo that right, it's their problem, IMO.

lionheart · 15/05/2017 18:15

Pain, Huckleberry was spinning the same line the other night.
I think the reporter responded by asking whether that meant that Candidate Trump was a 'fiction.'

Lweji · 15/05/2017 18:15

Not sure the US would want a secretive President, though.
And he would lend himself to even wilder speculations.

cozietoesie · 15/05/2017 18:21

He wouldn't be able to contain himself, I reckon.

BiglyBadgers · 15/05/2017 18:22

I don't think Trump knows the meaning of the word secretive, let alone is capable of such a feat of self-restraint.

Lweji · 15/05/2017 18:29

He has banned the visitor log. But then they take photos. Grin

Resourceful journalists will stake out all WH exits. Unless there's a secret passage...

cozietoesie · 15/05/2017 18:30

I doubt they'd need to. 'People' would come to them. Smile

Trump just attacked his political opponents at the annual Peace Officers' Memorial Service. There is literally nothing he won't politicize.

PerkingFaintly · 15/05/2017 18:50

I hope that piece about Conway is untrue, otherwise she's just achieved the remarkable feat of lowering herself in my estimation. Which I hadn't realised was possible.

"'I'm just doing this for the money, I'll be off this soon,'" he said, imitating Conway. "I don't know that she ever said, 'I'm doing this for the money,' but this is just my summer vacation, my summer in Europe. And basically, I'm gonna get through this."

Surely that can't be true? There can't be someone for whom a holiday in Europe is worth enabling a person who genuinely disgusts them, to do the sort of damage to their country that 45 is doing?

I mean, my opinion of her wouldn't be terribly high if she were sincere, but this... Envy

Lweji · 15/05/2017 18:51

I can (although I avoid) picture him in bed with Melania, asking her "How did I do? I did great. I won the Presidency." I bet he gets an orgasm out of that too. But forgets her.Wink

AcrossthePond55 · 15/05/2017 18:56

You mean as far as monopoly, cozie?

The law is complicated, but it has to do with one person/entity not being able to control a media market OR all the outlets in a particular area to insure that there are different viewpoints for people to listen to/watch. Murdoch 'owns' Fox News but there are plenty of other National Networks that he does not own. If he were to try to buy NBC, CBS, CNN, et al, at some point he would be stopped. IIRC he was stopped from buying a newspaper or newspapers some while back as he would then have owned all the newspapers & TV stations in a particular area.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 15/05/2017 19:07

This is bit by the by, but DH and I could not believe how outrageous the SNL stuff was - especially the "priming the pump so Melanie can find it" stuff. Shock Grin DH said they must be sailing close to a lawsuit but I reminded DH that Trump would have to prove he doesn't have a tiny penis to prove it was defamation or whatever.

cozietoesie · 15/05/2017 19:07

The Indie piece has a point.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 15/05/2017 19:17

Ahhh. That Indy article also has a link to this Indy article which explains the 2 scoops of icecream gag in the SNL skit with Baldwin.

Lweji · 15/05/2017 19:17

I don't think defamation covers humour. Thank God.

Lweji · 15/05/2017 19:19

Trump fired Comey because he asked for 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream after dinner.

Damn. Somebody beat me to it.
