To say she has brought this on herself?

Dd is 13. A couple of months ago at great expense I let her have the bottom half of her hair bleached blonde. It looked lovely.

Last week she phoned me from her friend's and said she was putting a wash out green dye on it. I told her not to as it would stain the blonde.

She did it anyway. She has spent the last week washing it with dandruff shampoo, baby shampoo, washing up liquid and today as a last try we did a vitamin c powder twice.

Somewhat predictably she still has bright green hair.

She goes back to school tomorrow. They are VERY strict. Natural hair colours only. She will likely be sent home. She is now (at nearly ten pm) having a screaming fit about it. I've told her that if they send her home I'll be marching her straight to the hairdressers to get it cut short. This is the worst thing that's ever happened to her apparently.

I'm leaving dh to deal with her. As far as I'm concerned this is her problem to sort out, I told her not to do it and told her it wouldn't wash out.

And does anyone have any suggestions, other than bleach which I'm trying to avoid?

Can you pop it in a bun and hide the ends? Just until you can get it sorted? How about trying the colour reverse dyes.

One of those donut bun things will hide it?

I'm going to put it in a bun for her tomorrow but she will basically have a green bun.

I don't have any accessories to hide it.

I think I'm with you. Hairdressers and a good dose of I told you not to, it cost me a fortune etc.

It is painful for her, but short of cutting her hair tonight I don't see what else you can do but let her face up to the consequences tomorrow

Yanbu, let this be a lesson to her! Sounds harsh but she should have listened to you. Her hair will grow back anyway. You spent all that money on her and she chose to dye it. I don't have any other suggestions other than to cut of the dyed bit!

I'm also loathe to spend a tenner on colour B4 because whenever I've used it it fades but doesn't remove it completely.

Basically she's screwed. That green is there for good. I will get her some brown semi permanent tomorrow because I think that will work, but she's furious about losing her blonde. Which, considering it cost us the best part of eighty fucking quid, so am I.

How much far down her hair is the green? I.e.: just the bottom inch, or are we talking so much that a bun wouldn't hide it?

She's naturally light brown.

I think she may have been a bit young to get her hair dyed in the first place to be honest. At 13 she's not mature enough to take care of it or not ruin it. And clearly she has ruined it.

But it's done now. If it's not going to come out she will have to have it short.

Her hair is bra strap length and it's just over half the length that's green.

I totally agree with you btw, she's been very silly and will have to take the consequences if you can't hide it.

Lop off the green with scissors, then send her to school, get her booked in for a tidy up haircut at the hairdressers.

Dye the bottom section brown.

And don't be too hard on her, she's amid having fun with hair dye.
