Original thread. Continuing here to throw @Phyllis a virtual baby shower, mumsnet style. Irish heritage and choice parenting optional, sparkly new kitchen plans essential. Fajitas and margaritas on entry. Vegan, of course.

wild, mikey, smeaton, fenella and the rest of the crew, where you at? Grin

@PhyllisNights I had the labour and birth I wanted; drug free, yoga, my music playing, in the water for a large proportion of the 36 hours (that's from my waters breaking to her being delivered. And that doesn't include the 14 hours before of contractions every 5 mins)

But with no2 I'll be asking for all the drugs because I was so fucked I just functioned the first week.

mikeyssister · 25/04/2017 21:21

I FOUND YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OnTheUp13 · 25/04/2017 21:29

mikeyssister · 25/04/2017 21:33

Ireland on Tour

GaelicSiog · 25/04/2017 22:52

Mikey, you're back!!!! Grin

🍀🇮🇪

How are the siblings?

Phyllis, I hope you're feeling a bit happier and being you this week. I would say I hope nephew has taken to baby brother, but we can't all be perfect all the time Wink

Typical, I leave the party for a couple of minutes and everyone moved to a different house where there's more craic and no-one thought to leave a note for me.

Joke of the day:
Two nuns in the bath
One says Where's the soap?
The other says Yes it does, doesn't it

Blush Hope I don't have to explain it
mikeyssister · 26/04/2017 14:08

And yes we had Fajitas on Friday because of this thread. Thanks Phyllis.

mikeyssister · 26/04/2017 14:13

And definitely don't get the epidural if you don't have to Phyllis. I had shooting pains in the injection site for months afterwards and never had one again. Worse pain ever.

Not knowing what to expect is worse part of being pregnant on #1. Don't tell everyone you're going to have a drug free, holistic birth. Tell them (if you must, but honestly they're not interested) you HOPE to have a drug free, holistic birth but it will be driven by the needs of the baby. You won't feel such an eejit afterwards if it all goes bum up.

PhyllisNights · 26/04/2017 14:13

Thank you for the advice regarding birth plans. My sister in law had two difficult births, so I am worried!

I haven't seen my nephews for a few weeks. To be honest, I find it rather funny! I like the rivalry, reminds me of when I was younger.

I'm so happy that so many of you had fajitas! The actually had another lot of fajitas on Sunday because I didn't like my friends cooking on the Friday!

mikeyssister · 26/04/2017 14:20

And try not to go in too soon. It's much easier to be in labour at home than in a hospital.

I loved a nice warm bath on #3 and #4. In fact I think that's what caused all the problems on #3.

Mikey, we left you a note! Link on last page of the thread!

Oh we might be labour twins too, this is getting scary. Irish blood FTW!

I knew I was pregnant Gaelic, so one huge difference.

I've a massive respect for you managing to get your head around it in the very short time you had, and still trying to do the best for your DD and her dip of a father.

OnTheUp13 · 26/04/2017 14:45

@mikeyssister has it right when she says don't tell everyone say you're hoping for a holistic birth. I told everyone that's what I was aiming for. Even when I told the consultant he smiled knowingly. I told him to feel free to come and remind me when I ask for an epidural 😂

PhyllisNights · 26/04/2017 15:28

In Scientology (what an abusive religion/cult), the parishioners have to give silent births. They also believe their babies have lived past lives and are basically adult minds inside babies.

I've always found the idea of water births funny, but I'll freely admit chat I don't know enough about it.

mikeyssister · 26/04/2017 15:34

Ooooh I never liked the idea of a water birth either

GaelicSiog · 26/04/2017 18:25

Well, I didn't have much choice, Mikey! It hit me when DD was about 6 months. Before that I think I was in frantic survival mode. Plus DD was an "easy" baby, it would have been much harder if she hadn't been I think because my life didn't change unrecognisably. That helped. The ambulance part all sounds very familiar though! But thank you Flowers

Thank you! I feel better this week actually!

I'm so happy for you. Hopefully the tinnitus clears off!

OnTheUp13 · 27/04/2017 20:45

How is bump @PhyllisNights?

PhyllisNights · 27/04/2017 20:52

Haha! All is fine and well! I'm by myself tonight as the husband is working away. I feel quite anxious sleeping alone.

I'm seeing the girls for a meal after work tomorrow night. I then have to see my grandma on Sunday as it's her birthday. Hope you're well! Any plans for the weekend?

mikeyssister · 28/04/2017 20:58

We're having fajita Saturday

GaelicSiog · 28/04/2017 21:01

DD wants to know why we had vegan fajitas two Fridays in a row. I told her because fajita Friday.

OP posts:
PhyllisNights · 28/04/2017 21:09

I am SO happy about these fajita Friday/Saturdays/whatever's.

Gaelic, you aren't doing vegan, surely?!

Me and my friends usual place for a meal was packed by people for a wake so unfortunately we didn't go there and went elsewhere.

I got one of my friends to sign up to tinder. She's the only singleton in the group. I've been persuading her months & luckily managed to twist her arm!!

GaelicSiog · 28/04/2017 21:17

We did do vegan! Although admittedly we would have done vegan anyway Wink not fully vegan but we eat a lot of vegan food. Fajita Friday is inspired by you though!

Ohhhh, online dating. I keep being told I must try this. My love life is a disaster zone.
