www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2907753-AIBU-with-my-friends

Original thread. Continuing here to throw @Phyllis a virtual baby shower, mumsnet style. Irish heritage and choice parenting optional, sparkly new kitchen plans essential. Fajitas and margaritas on entry. Vegan, of course.

wild, mikey, smeaton, fenella and the rest of the crew, where you at? Grin

Gaelic it would be impossible with mine. Nosiness out rules sleeping no matter how tired and crabby.

PhyllisNights · 22/04/2017 00:24

Conventional twins? No, that's too normal for me. I'll probably end up having a double pregnancy for my second.

GaelicSiog · 22/04/2017 00:25

Oh that sounds hellish, sparkly Shock I did it all in 2 hours. I thought I had more time than I did. It happened quickly. I was with my friend at the time and she did ask if we needed to get to hospital, I said no. I don't think she ever forgave me.

I have to ask, 8 days of full on labour pains? Because my goodness would that kill me Shock

Double pregnancy? You've lost me, phyllis

Posh term for twins? Confused

kikicrystalripple · 22/04/2017 00:30

Sorry to be the party pooper but this really reads as a group of cackling women bullying Phyllis trying to be the 'funniest'

Ok, you don't believe her. Then report. Which has been done and MN found her to be ok.

Just reads really uncomfortable to me. Maybe not what you would post/put things but come on? If she's genuine can you imagine how bad she feels? As opposed to some who feel they're 'dead funny'

WildIrishRose1 · 22/04/2017 00:31

I'm back!!!!!!! And I've just read Phyllis' final posts on the previous thread. Just brilliant, why don't I have friends like her? I want to be told I'm fat by a narcissist, cradling her bump and hating me for not making her the centre of conversation.

TheZeppo · 22/04/2017 00:33

Phyllis you are very good, thank you for, er, playing along so long!

But whoever suggested Xander and Buffy is just ridiculous. It's either Xander and Willow, or Faith and Giles. Obviously.

justgivemethepinot · 22/04/2017 00:36

I'd go with Beau (Bowe) or Xander for a boy, never sure how to pronounce Xavier is it Zay-vee-ah or Ex-ay-vee-ah?

Lovewineandchocs · 22/04/2017 00:36

Hi all! 😀 Any cake Cake and Doritos going? Grin

SparklyGlitterPants · 22/04/2017 00:39

It was absolute agony Gaelic, I had spd during that pregnancy as well. I ended up sleeping on my birthing ball with my only my head and arms on the bed in the ward. Well what sleep I could get lol.

Registrar tried to tell me I wasn't in labour despite my waters been gone and contractions resistering on the monitor. He wisely avoided me at all costs after irish taurean temper reared its head.

2 hours sounds heavenly. I'm not surprised your friend will never forgive for saying no in all fairness.

ScarletSienna · 22/04/2017 00:40

You mention your sister in law a lot. A lot a lot.

WildIrishRose1 · 22/04/2017 00:41

Thanks, Gaelic, for the new thread. I rushed home from what turned out to be rather a good male voice choir concert in a heightened state of anticipation; DH was quite perturbed. Glad the collective Fajita Fridays went well 🌯. The pork stir fry was eaten here, but only, I suspect, because there was no alternative!

SparklyGlitterPants · 22/04/2017 00:42

Zeppo noooo Xander and Willow had a thing for a bit. That's just so wrong. Although I did girl crush on Faith. Lol

Sorry Lovewine. The Spawn ate all the chocolate cake. I do have left over easter eggs that I'm "helping" the kids eat.

GaelicSiog · 22/04/2017 00:45

wild, my favourite Irish not-my-sister! How was DH's event?

Phyllis, I will be honest, I think we got you wrong. You are brilliant company, which I why I started the second thread. I maintain you may need to tone it down a little, which it sounds like you did tonight. And I really hope you realise before your baby comes that you don't need to be your SIL, you need to be you. Life is too short to make it into a competition, and perfect lives on social media are rarely so in real life. Especially once you have kids. Your baby will be awesome in their own way, to you. That's the important thing.

Lovewineandchocs · 22/04/2017 00:45

Ah, leftover Easter eggs... my DC got 4 more eggs today-it is my duty to "help" eat them Grin if only I had a friend who would buy me the 5:2 book....Grin

Lovewineandchocs · 22/04/2017 00:47

Gaelic I agree Phyllis is the best of craic. Good luck with everything Phyllis Wine

GaelicSiog · 22/04/2017 00:47

Sparkly, you deserve a medal. 2 hours was enough for me, and I never went back for more! I really should have been more organised and asked my mam, I know now that she had all of my siblings and I in scarily short time and this is a big indicator, apparently. But you know, I felt OK, and everyone said it would be ages. I made her godmother, if that makes it any better.

OP posts:
GaelicSiog · 22/04/2017 00:49

Oh, oops, just seen, wild. was DH singing?

OP posts:
chastenedButStillSmiling · 22/04/2017 00:56

Am I allowed to join in if I'm not Irish or red-headed, but am an Aries?

also, would ONLY want to eat fajitas with either chicken or slices of rump steak. Actually, I only want them with rump steak. And lashings of sour cream and cheese. I realize that's possibly not vegan enough.

milliemolliemou · 22/04/2017 00:57

Justgive

Xavier - Ts or Ks aviay
Javier - Havier
Xander - ts or Ks ander

Interestingly Iksander is a fairly popular name through Iran/India as an alleged ref to Alexander the Great.

Getting to like Phyllis - are there two of you, Phyllis? apart from you and the bump? Chalk Phyllis and Cheese Phyllis? I know there's at least three Millies ....

SparklyGlitterPants · 22/04/2017 00:59

Lovewine I actually have the 5:2 book. Dr. has put dh on it (insert manical laughter here). Don't think he has looked at it though.

Sounds like this evening has gone a fair whack better for you Phyllis than other most recent meet ups. Contine to be more of who your friends know as opposed to bumps mam and hopefully your friendship with group will get back on an even keel.

WildIrishRose1 · 22/04/2017 01:00

No, he does sing beautifully, though! It was a fundraising event, Gaelic.

SparklyGlitterPants · 22/04/2017 01:06

Ver naice Wild. At least it wasn't as bad as you the evening might be. Plus having a dh who sings beautifully gets you out of lullabys (lullabies?) at bedtime.

WildIrishRose1 · 22/04/2017 01:14

I didn't say he sang often, Sparkly! I ad to sing the lullabies myself.. A long time ago! I might wake the DCs tomorrow with a song ... They'll appreciate that, I'm sure😂
