Original thread. Continuing here to throw @Phyllis a virtual baby shower, mumsnet style. Irish heritage and choice parenting optional, sparkly new kitchen plans essential. Fajitas and margaritas on entry. Vegan, of course.

wild, mikey, smeaton, fenella and the rest of the crew, where you at? Grin

Phyllis is here.

My wine addled brain is just getting used to why her posts aren't highlighted Grin

GaelicSiog · 21/04/2017 23:56

Ah, sorry crunchy. I am a grand host, promise. I am going to keep using grand for Irish novelty value.

MiddleClassProblem · 21/04/2017 23:57

Not that I didn't beg before

MiddleClassProblem · 21/04/2017 23:57

Beg? Fat thumbs

GaelicSiog · 22/04/2017 00:02

Phyllis you don't need to be SIL. Just be you. Life's too short to be someone else.

It's now salsa Saturday and I'm still laughing.

MadamePomfrey · 22/04/2017 00:04

I dunno i think I want to be phyllis's SIL she is basically perfect!!! The constant admiration maybe hard to deal with but I like to think I could cope Grin

justgivemethepinot · 22/04/2017 00:05

This is brilliant,I've read the other thread and looking forward to the continuing saga. phyllis you have done well, hats off Star

PhyllisNights · 22/04/2017 00:06

I don't have a theme for a Saturday night in. We used to have a Spag Bol Monday before we had Fajita Friday, but everyone got fed up of eating it. I don't think we've had one for years in fact.

Not that we have fajitas every Friday! We do different things every week, but there was a time when we'd meet up most Mondays and cook Spag Bol to get over the Monday blues.

GaelicSiog · 22/04/2017 00:10

Will you take the baby to fajita Friday? I was also the first in my closest friend group to get pregnant, I used to take DD everywhere and bung her in the corner when people got bored of passing her round.

It's no wonder she prefers them to me really...

RedDogsBeg · 22/04/2017 00:11

Phyllis your obsessional hero worship of your sister in law is a tad concerning.

PhyllisNights · 22/04/2017 00:12

I'm not sure how my life will pan out when I have the baby. I want to stay close with everyone, but I'm worried that I'll be excluded. I can't see myself taking a baby or even a toddler to an evening round someone's house.

They'll have to come round for afternoon tea or something!

MadamePomfrey · 22/04/2017 00:12

SIL Saturday it could become a thing.. sharing stories about how wonderful she is... looking at ways to be more like her... it's a whole night of fun may even roll over into Sunday!!

Cococrumble · 22/04/2017 00:13

I'm voting Phyllis in the snap election. Bring on June!

GaelicSiog · 22/04/2017 00:14

Aw, why not? Didn't do mine any harm. In my experience, people are much more interested when it's a baby, not a bump.

Do you know what you're having, btw? I missed out on that fun with mine, I now live through everyone else.

justgivemethepinot · 22/04/2017 00:15

phyllis may I ask what names you are considering for your sprog?

MiddleClassProblem · 22/04/2017 00:15

No, you won't be taking a toddler to an evening at someone's house...

As you put in all the effort to get up the duff I'm sure you read every parenting manual even though they differ wildly I'm fairly sure none recommend keeping a toddler up for fajitas.

MiddleClassProblem · 22/04/2017 00:16

Ratatouille might be ok

ThisAintALoveSong · 22/04/2017 00:18

Don't worry Phillis! You can always have Weaning party Wednesdays at your house when your angel moves on to solids. Maybe your friends can delight in puréeing some organic pears or something?

SparklyGlitterPants · 22/04/2017 00:18

Yep Gaelic 8 long slow pain filled days with no drugs. That labour was my premmie so they didn't want to do anything until my consultant came back from her week off.
Oh and it started with a uti funnily enough.

Phyliss please don't try to emulate your SIL. I and the rest of us can promise you that her life isn't as perfect as it seems. No ones ever is. Just take a step back mentally and have a think about who you actually are, not who you are trying to be/think you need to be.

No one is perfect. Especially parents. Every single one of us has made a multitude of mistakes raising our children but we do the best we can, and that goes for every other aspect of our lives not just parenting.

PhyllisNights · 22/04/2017 00:19

I like the names Bowe, Xavier & Xander for a boy and Kara, Brooke or Elle for a girl.

PurpleDaisies · 22/04/2017 00:20

Is Bowe a typo? I'm never quite sure with some of these modern names.

GaelicSiog · 22/04/2017 00:20

I used to take mine, middle. lack of childcare. Baby carrier in the corner, assuming I didn't manage to palm her off for the evening Grin toddler she stayed up sometimes or we left when she was tired/she crashed in friend's guest room. This was all with prior permission, of course. panics there is an aibu about Mini Gaelic on here somewhere

SparklyGlitterPants · 22/04/2017 00:21

If you opposite sex twins please please please call them Xander and Buffy.
