AIBU with my friends?

I'm the first one in my social group to get pregnant. I talk to my friends on a daily basis through WhatsApp and see them all in person at least once a week.

As it's my first pregnancy, I'm very excited. I can't stop talking about it. I'm so lucky, so happy, so fortunate & so privileged. My baby feels so special, like I know my baby will do something incredible in this world - I can feel it!!

And yet, my friends have started to turn on me. They've become very jealous. They make snide remarks, they mimick me & give me side eye. I feel like my pregnancy is the butt of all the jokes.

I can't help that I've been so blessed and so fortunate to get pregnant out of my friends first. I went to college, uni, started a professional career first & got married first. I've just always been up step ahead - I can't help it!!

Would it be unreasonable to sit my friends down and ask them to stop being so negative? I want to ask them to support me better and help me out.

OP perhaps your friends aren't as happy for you as you would like because when someone is so happy for themselves it's hard for there to be room to be happy for them. Imagine a hot guy who's in love with himself. It's hard to be as in love with him as he is with himself and so he'll find women lacking in attention because he's paying so much to himself there's no room for a girlfriend's attention.

If you want to stay friends with them start talking about something other than yourself. Try it. People will like you a lot more than when you spend your whole day congratulating yourself on how good you are at being pregnant. I had an utterly shit pregnancy and would have struggled to spend a minute in your presence if you'd gushed to me about how amazing and fortunate you are because it would have made me feel even shitter.

I lost interest in the OP and her pregnancy way quicker than her friends, although I'm looking forward to the PFB, special snowflake type posts in the coming months. I am however having serious kitchen envy with talk of granite floors, marble work tops & rising microwaves. If anyone can throw in a rising kitchen island I'll combust with jealousy

It's ok, venus. I really do have lots of spare siblings I will happily loan to you in exchange for an imaginary stables.

Although I warn you, they have enough kids between them you'll need to take out a mortgage to cover the birthday cards. A real stables might be cheaper.

The only buttons I have for my microwave is to open the door. Although I am the first of my friends to own a microwave that cost more than £30 #winning #at #life

I'm going to get my kitchen done soon and im going to have a rising microwave. Maybe I can contact one of OPs friends to talk kitchens.
