To wonder why it's so transphobic here?

Really what's the big deal if a transwoman uses the women's toilets or changing rooms - they are women after all!

Can you not possibly imagine how hard it must be to be born into the wrong body? Imagine the pain and distress that must cause?

I have a friend who is a transwoman and she is the kindest most gentle soul you could ever meet so hearing her being referred to as a bloke in a dress or that she has a perverted fetish is just heartbreaking.

Can't we just show a little bit of empathy for these people who have been through so much pain already?

Well explained M0stly. I was struggling to put into words why it made me look askance at it.

joystir59 · 23/03/2017 18:14

transwoman = man. ciswoman= woman

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 23/03/2017 18:27

In previous trans debates one thing that has been mentioned often is that most posters don't have a gender identity. Trans activists bang on as if everyone has one, but it doesn't appear to be true. Me, I have a sex and a personality. I don't have some sort of extra corporeal soul or essence.

venusinscorpio · 23/03/2017 18:30

No, they don't appear to grasp this, Prawn.

LineysRun · 23/03/2017 18:45

And will the 'cis'-sayers just fuck off with the 'cis'.

Don't call me that. Don't label me that. I'm dropping that ball.

MadMags · 23/03/2017 18:47

Ciswoman?

No. Woman. That is all. Woman.

Boulshired · 23/03/2017 19:08

Imagine if we embraced CIS and used it CIS safe space, CIS sports there would be outrage. I seem to have been given a label I never asked for, that would be transphobic if I ever used it.

splendide · 23/03/2017 19:15

I think that may be what happens Boul - we accept (reluctantly) the label of cis

venusinscorpio · 23/03/2017 19:24

No. We'll use another term if we have to. Fuck "cis".

Doyouwantabrew · 23/03/2017 19:28

No cis here either. Me and my dds are women. Just strong wonderful women. Fuck off with cis. Woman is not a dirty word to be altered.

Don't trample on our women's rights fight for your own and you will get the support of women.

Try to diminish ours by cheating at sports events and gate crashing out safe and hard fought spaces and you will see what women can do.

Lalsy · 23/03/2017 19:30

Yeah, let's redefine ourselves as men instead.

M0stlyBowlingHedgehog · 23/03/2017 19:30

Actually, I think the linguistic usage of "cis" is interesting and revealing. It's not a word invented by the group it purportedly describes, it was imposed on them from outside, in order to other them. It is also never used positively, only negatively ("cis privilege", "cisbians" etc).

ShamefulDodger · 23/03/2017 19:33

'Cis' can get to fuck.

Just 'woman' will do, thanks.

venusinscorpio · 23/03/2017 19:35

Yes, we are all transmen now. What, you actually want me to do something to prove I am a man? I can't just keep wearing dresses and liking pink and flowers? Cisnormative thinking. It works for Danielle Muscato and a host of "non binary" men. I'm just too queer for you. I'm queering queer itself.

BertrandRussell · 23/03/2017 19:53

I'm wearing jeans and a rugby shirt and drinking beer. I have a vagina. I never wear makeup. What gender am I?

Doyouwantabrew · 23/03/2017 20:00

I want a beer now. Is yours in a pint glass Bertrand my love. Beware blurring the lines.

Filling my pink tankard as we type and thinkiing of fluffy unicorns as women do.

BertrandRussell · 23/03/2017 20:35

I'm actually drinking from the bottle............

Doyouwantabrew · 23/03/2017 20:38

Now that's a woman Grin

BeyondUser24601 · 24/03/2017 09:21

Prawn "In previous trans debates one thing that has been mentioned often is that most posters don't have a gender identity. Yy. I wonder how much of this is related to a large chunk of transpeople being brought up in strict religious households where such thing as a soul is taught as fact?

venusinscorpio · 24/03/2017 09:59

That's an interesting take beyond. I suspect you might be on to something there.

isupposeitsverynice · 24/03/2017 10:08

Do you know what actually I will hold my hands up to being "transphobic" if that means I'm scared by transgender women. The one I know is a foot and a half taller than me, almost as broad and fucking PUNCHES me in the guise of "friendship". So yeah you can be sure I've no intention of ever being alone with him because yes, he scares me, his behaviour is so clearly influenced by his masculine socialisation AND I know he has a working penis because he likes to talk about it in the staff room

That's before you get into what transactivism is doing to womens rights and I struggle to understand why any woman isn't frightened by that.

So there you go. An actual transphobe. Flame away, I don't fucking care anymore.

Fuck sake SWOT
Belittling women for valid fear of men is shitty and victim blaming

AutomatonSimine · 24/03/2017 11:20

I would not want to be around the person that isuppose describes whether she is trans or not.

SWOTAnalysis · 24/03/2017 11:25

Gallavich

Speak for yourself but being a woman ≠ being a victim. Don't tar me with that brush.
