For all those who think trans politics doesn't affect you or your daughters - please read this article of a male forcing women out of their sport and the authorities are letting this happen. If you don't give a shiney shit about this incident - what exactly will it take for you to sit up and take notice and start saying enough.

Men should be able to compete in women's sports because some sportswomen went to private school Hmm

ageingrunner · 19/03/2017 21:53

Women are already losing weight in order to avoid males that are taking over their sports.

no, it doesn't negate it.

It is a shocking injustice

NerysHughes · 19/03/2017 21:57

morphene

If sport was segregated on the grounds of bruising easily you would have a point.can you see the difference?

HumphreyCobblers · 19/03/2017 21:57

sorry, missed some posts there

BeyondUser24601 · 19/03/2017 21:57

And I'll make the point again (for anyone who doesn't know) that Jenner - competing in a sport that women cannot even do in the olympics - despite being ranked #14 in the men's decathlon world record, would still hold the women's world record with their score from the 1970s.

VeryBitchyRestingFace · 19/03/2017 21:57

Lambrechs, who won bronze at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014, admitted she was initially upset by being knocked off the top rung in the rankings by Hubbard, but she is trying to take a positive approach to her competitive future

Pound to pennies she still is upset - apart from Grannie, who wouldn't be??

But doesn't want to be TERFed and feathered by admitting to it. Sad

HumphreyCobblers · 19/03/2017 21:59

that struck me too

not only has she been unfairly pushed out, she is not even allowed to complain about it Sad

She has been silenced. It is shocking. This is her job as well as her passion.

PaniWahine · 19/03/2017 21:59

I don't understand why the testerone level was set so high. I don't think I have an issue with trans woman competing, however they should meet standard the average woman's hormone levels. Setting a higher level to accommodate trans women isn't fair

DickToPhone · 19/03/2017 22:02

" but she is trying to take a positive approach to her competitive future"

It's quite a thing isn't it. You have sportswomen who may have given up careers at lawyers or doctors or whatever to pursue their sport on the basis of their ability relative to other women.

And then suddenly a man, sorry 'transwoman', comes along who fancies a go, and you are unemployed. No more funding. No career. Nothing.

HumphreyCobblers · 19/03/2017 22:02

there are other physical differences PaniWahine, not least difference pelvic structure and general size.

HeyRoly · 19/03/2017 22:03

But as I said in an earlier post, I don't even think that lowering the permissible testosterone level would help. Someone who is male bodied, with longer limbs and male musculature, would still (presumably - someone correct me if I'm wrong) find themselves with an advantage to women.

Hormones are only part of the story, and hormones can't change a person's basic physiology.

DickToPhone · 19/03/2017 22:03

"I don't understand why the testerone level was set so high. I don't think I have an issue with trans woman competing, "

Why not? 50 year old men can beat women in most sports. Testosterone or not. A man has advantages beyond his current testosterone levels.

1horatio · 19/03/2017 22:04

It's not just about testosterone...

What about pelvis structue (faster running)

on average Wider reach (awesome for tennis, basketball, hockey and so many other sports)

on average longer legs... yet again. Wider reach when kicking, better for running, cycling, basketball...

What about lung capacity? Bone density?

BeyondUser24601 · 19/03/2017 22:06

Pelvic structure.

Human females have an evolutionary trade off in their pelvis size, allowing them to birth smaller humans. Human males retain their advantage of better upright structure.

Transwomen who transitioned after puberty will still have a male structure - size, configuration of hips etc - which are different and confer advantage in many sports.

I thought I might have a go at addressing the visual learners Wink

"not only has she been unfairly pushed out, she is not even allowed to complain about it sad"

I might be wrong but i think i can detect disgust and anger in the tone the NZ Herald uses in their articles with Hubbard - I don't think they approve at all.

This needs to reach mainstream media everywhere. Let the public see what is happening - how to get wider attention on it.

I honestly just don't understand why we can't be more compassionate about people who have decided for whatever reason to live as another gender.
I am very compassionate towards transgender people and the inner turmoil many have experienced, but I cannot accept them being allowed a ridiculously unfair advantage over women in sport - they are not and will never be female, they should not be allowed to compete against other female athletes.

Should she have to give up Something she loves and has worked hard for all her life?
Yes! Or compete against men. Female weightlifters do not stand a chance of beating this transwoman because she is not biologically female.

TumbleTrans · 19/03/2017 23:10

I honestly don't understand all the trams hatred here...

I really do wish people would stop shouting "transphobia!" whenever someone dares to question the TA's narrative or disagrees with them in anyway.

Thinking that biological males should probably not be competing with women is not transphobia. To suggest that it is a mockery to people who really have been on the receiving end of transphobia. Would you like to give you some real life examples of transphobia Isadora2007? I have plenty of personal experiences if you want to hear about some.

If someone who was biologically male was allowed to play on my sisters rugby team then I would have something to say about it.

TumbleTrans · 19/03/2017 23:14

Should she have to give up Something she loves and has worked hard for all her life?

She is biologically male so if she wants to compete then she should compete with the men.

If she doesn't want to do that then she will have to give it up. It's unfortunate but it is not on for her to be competing against women when she still has all the physical advantages being male brings.

Bambambini · 19/03/2017 23:21

I just can't understand how Hubbard can stand on the podium in front of the crowd waving and smiling. Surely there has to be some personality disorder going on here.

No one is taking our precious rights away

Except that it is taking women's rights away. How can a biological male competing with women not have an unfair advantage over them and not be taking rights away from those women involved?

I'm a firm believer that your rights end where another persons begins. Once your rights start infringing on another persons rights then that is your cue to let you know that you have gone too far and you need to step back.

I wouldn't dream of demanding to be allowed to play on a womens sports team because I'm not an arsehole.

By the looks of all the transphobia on MN then trans people actually need more rights for their own protection

Please show me where this transphobia is on this thread so I can address it.

TheWorldAccordingToToads · 19/03/2017 23:31

Explain how your precious rights are being taken away by teh evil menz
