NZ weight lifter Tracey Lebrechts has had her nationsl records broken and her place in the National team taken by a male Laurel Hubbard - previously Gavin. How is this fair and just why is this allowed?

Trifle

Not you again

Trifleorbust · 07/03/2017 13:56

MercyMyJewels:

Fraid so. This is a public forum.

ZilphasHatpin · 07/03/2017 13:57

I love it when your comment gets picked out in bold rather than look at the full comment.
I agreed they shouldn't be competing with women, its not fair. which is what i said!

Not sure what you're objecting to. I was responding to a point you made, I bolded it so that it was clear which part of your post I was responding to.

Trifleorbust · 07/03/2017 13:57

Doyouwantabrew:

I'm not going to go through post by post. It's all been said before.

ZilphasHatpin · 07/03/2017 14:00

This thread is about the unfairness of a female athlete being deprived of her rightfully earned title by someone who has an unfair advantage by way of their biology. Something she can never achieve. If there has been hate filled posts within the thread then report them but this thread is not a bigoted or hateful thread.

Keeptrudging · 07/03/2017 14:01

Rotring, mixed rugby is not allowed, for very good reason. Sometimes the boys and girls train together in their age groups, but they don't scrum/tackle, it's just fitness/passing/touch rugby. DD is U15 and plays full-contact rugby, some of the U15 boys are twice her size.

MercyMyJewels · 07/03/2017 14:03

Trifle
What are you doing here then is it's all been said before? Just having a wee moan luv?

Trifleorbust · 07/03/2017 14:04

MercyMyJewels:

Er, yes.

MadMags · 07/03/2017 14:05

Trifle the thread is about the unfairness of this situation. That's it.

Bambambini · 07/03/2017 14:05

Trifle - Thanks for the multiple bumps. We need to get this issue more well known and debated. Wine

Ah ok then trifle. Makes it clear to everyone that you just want to complain and have nothing to contribute. Righty ho - crack on

r0tringLover · 07/03/2017 14:09

Mixed is allowed up to U14 or U12 depending on which country you are in.

I'm not going to pretend there's no difference between rugby and football, but some posters with recognisable names do seem to have entirely different standpoints depending on if it will benefit women or not. It was this hypocrisy that meant I hit peak-fem.

What are you doing here then is it's all been said before? Just having a wee moan luv?

Do you think that either side of this argument are adding something new?

Trifleorbust · 07/03/2017 14:15

MadMags: Your posts may be. I don't think that is the case across the thread. I'm not about to change my opinion so let's agree to disagree.

Trifleorbust · 07/03/2017 14:15

MercyMyJewels:

Thanks.

MalletsMallets · 07/03/2017 14:16

If someone has a raised testosterone level that can give them a 4 second advantage over someone with a normal testosterone level, a level so high they previously wouldn't have been allowed to compete.
That is not fair.
Regardless of your training, you will never match that 4 second advantage

SookiesSocks · 07/03/2017 14:19

I have read every post and can not find one that smacks of bigotry or trans hate.

Do you actually know the meaning of those few words trifle because the way you band them about all over mn it appears not.

As for the OP YANBU.
Women will soon be forced back in the kitchen and their only allowed achievement will be to bear children.....until somebody decides thats wrong and not inclusive Hmm

Doyouwantabrew · 07/03/2017 14:25

trifle

So no specific hate speak and no opinions on the female athlete just popping up to us how we are bigots.

Oklkkaaaayyyy.

Doyouwantabrew · 07/03/2017 14:27

sookies it's frightening isn't it.

SookiesSocks · 07/03/2017 14:31

Very Doyou

I have 2 DDs and i have no idea what kind of world they will be living in. Confused

How come Trifle can wonder on to a thread leave a clearly goady comment, make no contribution what so ever, name call and gets away with it?
Come on MNHQ you would not normally allow such posting as its not in the spirit of the sight I would have thought.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 07/03/2017 14:39

Re your comment about the wrestler. That young woman is taking testosterone. If she was but still as a woman, she wouldn't be able to compete. It's only women who are not doping that are penalised.

Also, since when did it become a right to compete in competitions? It's not. If you aren't good enough, you can't, if you possess all your limbs you can't compete in the paralympics. If you are any measure of banned substances then you shouldn't be allowed - no matter what you say the reasons are.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 07/03/2017 14:42

I also object to the hatred. The obvious hatred of women having anything to themselves without men stomping all the fuck over it and wanting a piece.

I have generic hatred towards patriarchy. I'm a straight woman, individually I love men. As the oppressor class - not so much.

Keeptrudging · 07/03/2017 14:43

Again, mixed rugby is not allowed past 11. Boys/girls of different age groups can't even play against each other, for safety reasons. It's not optional, it's safety rules.

TheWorldAccordingToToads · 07/03/2017 14:47

I find this whole thing to be bloody terrifying tbh.

I'm pregnant right now and I'm praying that I'm not having a girl. I'm terrified about what kind of world I'd be bringing her into.

r0tringLover · 07/03/2017 14:50

Thank you. I's so rare that lol is literal on the internet.

lol

Again, it's U12 in the UK and U14 in some other countries. I did say that I understand the difference between football and rugby but also that there's a striking hypocrisy where some posters will change their stance as long as there is a direct benefit to females.
