To wonder how males are allowed to compete and win in female sports

NZ weight lifter Tracey Lebrechts has had her nationsl records broken and her place in the National team taken by a male Laurel Hubbard - previously Gavin. How is this fair and just why is this allowed?

I completely agree.
I have trans friends, and have never been anything but supportive of LGBT rights and issues.
But this has flicked a switch, and I can't support giving any ground on this now, because it has been such a 'give an inch, take a mile' load of bullshit in the last few years.

I'm really quite amazed at how many of my friends have become utterly incensed by this and similar issues - the rebranding of ASN, that supplies abortions, in case anyone trans was offended by the suggestion that it's only women who need abortions, for example.

I also suspect the vast majority of the trans community are really quite embarrassed by most transactivists who seem more intent on attention seeking than actually furthering the cause for the majority.

I know - Layt's narcissism and lack of insight is astounding. Enjoying the fear in a young opponent's eyes. But we are still hit with constant attacks of "how does giving TW access to loos hurt women". If that was all we were concerned with!

this is Rugby playing TW Caroline Layt's personal account on her femsle rugby playing experience.

Caroline Layt did not and cannot ever have a "female rugby playing experience". She can have a trans woman rugby playing experience. She can have experience playing rugby with females but female rugby will never be her experience.

MsGameandWatch · 07/03/2017 12:09

There were threads being started about this over a year ago and many of you probably belong to the FB group that came off the back of them. It's good to see more awareness and posters not being stamped on as transphobic but to me the awareness isn't moving fast enough. It's still happening and it's increasing. I honestly fear there is no turning back from it now and certain areas of women's lives have been appropriated and will never be the same again.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 07/03/2017 12:19

I was very live and let live until I hit peak trans. The iron entered my soul when a childhood friend transitioned. Then I started taking notice. I fell right off the cliff when I first heard of the cotton ceiling. From then on it became a cascade of awakenings. Now I'm not even happy to use pronouns. I'll use someone's name, naturally, but I no longer consider transwomen as any sort of woman. I speak of the two transwomen I know as he though I'd be prepared to call the dysphoric one she if they minded but as it goes Henry/Henrietta doesn't mind whether you use his original name or his feminine one. The other one is a selfish AGP wanker and everyone calls him he when he's not present, Angelica Fluffy to his face. (None of these are the real names, obvs)

This is AIBU. Differing opinion is something you will encounter.

This is the end of sport for women, if this continues sports will be split in to Mens sport and sport for men that were not as good as the other men so they said they were women.

MsGameandWatch · 07/03/2017 12:31

oh no not this again isn't really an opinion though is it? Just letting everyone know you're bored by the discussion.

Kiroro · 07/03/2017 12:35

My god this make me so angry!

People more as a MAN have no place competing in WOMENS sport. The world is going crazy.

Kiroro · 07/03/2017 12:36

This is the end of sport for women, if this continues sports will be split in to Mens sport and sport for men that were not as good as the other men so they said they were women.

The only way I can see is that we have 3 categories.

Men.
Women.
Trans.

Soubriquet · 07/03/2017 12:38

The TRAs won't want that.

They want to be seen as women and compete in women's sports

Astoria7974 · 07/03/2017 12:41

I have high testosterone, need to wax my face weekly to remove facial hair, am very muscular, and at the gym am able to lift more than my male trainer. I have pcos. Those of you using hormones to define who is a woman and who isn't are being deliberately goady. Also, to the bigots, I hope one of your kids identify as trans so you'll understand how bloody difficult being trans is.

Kiroro · 07/03/2017 12:43

Can someone link to the FB gorp? I want to join.

Kiroro · 07/03/2017 12:44

Astoria7974

Did you the thread? The testosterone levels for a women with PCOS are BELOW the set 'woman' level. So climb down eh?

Gingernaut · 07/03/2017 12:45

Sorry. Didn't mean to goad. I was reading the article and saw that, apparently, two criteria were used to let the guy compete as a woman.

Testosterone levels (artificially suppressed) and passport which had been legally changed to show female.

ZilphasHatpin · 07/03/2017 12:45

They want to be seen as women and compete in women's sports

That's fine, they can compete in women's sports. New categories created can be female and male rather than women and men. Women and men category still exist for those who identify as women or men. New Female and male categories are for those who are female and male.

MsGameandWatch · 07/03/2017 12:45

kiroro I will PM you.

ZilphasHatpin · 07/03/2017 12:46

How the fuck are passports being changed to say female for a genetically male person?? That's like changing the date of birth on it!!

Soubriquet · 07/03/2017 12:46

Also, to the bigots, I hope one of your kids identify as trans so you'll understand how bloody difficult being trans is.

Lovely. I hope your daughter never experiences the dissapointment at failing at her sport because she knows a man will always beat her. To have the apathy of "why bother?"

Gingernaut · 07/03/2017 12:46

@Kiroro

Male
Female
MtF Trans
FtM Trans

Otherwise it wouldn't be fair, would it?

Kiroro · 07/03/2017 12:47

, I hope one of your kids identify as trans so you'll understand how bloody difficult being trans is

You would think some of this 'how hard it is' would mean that MTF trans were a bit more 'pro-women' in general rather than 'pro man with dick wanting to fuck people actual women over in sport and other spaces. Oh, and actually quite often literally wanting to fuck them'

Gingernaut · 07/03/2017 12:47

How about Trans Olympics?

Kiroro · 07/03/2017 12:48

@Gingernaut true, true. There should be 4.

Kiroro · 07/03/2017 12:49

@MsGameandWatch thanks

MalletsMallets · 07/03/2017 12:49

I really feel for Trans sports women in this situation its crap. They just want to do the thing they love.
However, raised testosterone does give an advantage (if i remember rightly and I'm happy to be corrected, it was testosterone of 10 gave you an advantage of 4 seconds over 800m)
Its not fair on the other athletes, no matter what they do they simply cannot compete.
