To promote her new film. Can't these A listers just wear a classy outfit?

prh47bridge, it's no good. Women can't possibly enjoy their bodies for their own sake, it's all about men. Women aren't capable of appreciating art, fashion, aesthetics or just enjoying dressing up in exquisite clothes or admiring other women looking lovely in exquisite clothes. Women's bodies and everything to do with them exist entirely for men.

And that's feminist, you know!

quencher · 01/03/2017 10:12

Seeing this yesterday made me laugh. The double standard from feminist think pieces who support her no matter what without seeing their prejudices and racist attitude to what is deemed art or not. And by that am being very polite on this because she gets a lot of passes without being called a terrorist, feminist lite or whatever word is there under the sun.

BertrandRussell · 01/03/2017 10:15

Racist? Terrorist?

Freddorika · 01/03/2017 10:15

I don't understand why she's such a poster girl for feminism anyway?

BertrandRussell · 01/03/2017 10:16

Well, being one of the few with the courage to say publicly that she is a feminist is a start............

Freddorika · 01/03/2017 10:17

oh.

Well, being one of the few with the courage to say publicly that she is a feminist is a start.
If that's the case, it should not only apply to her but other people too. Those who make efforts even though they have their failings in other areas. We all grow and we should be judged by how much we have changed and how much effort we try to make. No one is perfect.

Secondly, there is no perfect formula for what makes the best feminist.

PoorYorick · 01/03/2017 10:37

The fuck? If Sophie Okonedo or Gabourey Sidibe had done this shoot, we'd be saying the exact same thing. If you're saying black women are underrepresented in fashion and media, I agree but it's a separate issue.

Elendon · 01/03/2017 10:39

If it's so empowering to women then why don't older women do it.

I for one want to see Theresa May's boobs. In Parliament

(Oh wait)

Freddorika · 01/03/2017 10:42

Its not in any way empowering to women

(and its a horrible outfit aesthetically also)

hackmum · 01/03/2017 10:48

I find it disappointing. Men don't pose like this, do they?

Caitlin Moran once said something like, We'll know when there's no need for feminism any more when Rhianna and Katy Perry appear in pop videos wearing a cardigan, and I think she's right.

quencher · 01/03/2017 10:49

That s not what am saying. It didn't even cross my mind. What I will say in regards to your comment is that, the likely would of those two as thread on Mn about how they dress is very rare. If it happened, I doubt lots of people on here would care to comment in droves.

Londonsburningahhhh · 01/03/2017 10:52

Hackmum David Beckhams boxers photo shoot. The Coca Cola advert with the man topless and looking sexy and the women hard in the office. There are plenty of men out there who pose half naked for photos obviously none of you look. Hmm

Beachedwh4le · 01/03/2017 10:53

A) she's not topless.
B) even if she was it wouldn't preclude her from seeking equality between the sexes.
C) stop asking what she is doing for feminism and instead ask yourself what you can do.

JustSpeakSense · 01/03/2017 11:02

She had the right to do what she wants with her body.

I very much doubt Emma Watson could be pressurised into doing something she's not comfortable with.

If she felt empowered posing in a revealing outfit then so be it.

BingBongBingBong · 01/03/2017 11:08

Cannot stand Emma Watson, she is a terrible actress and spouts so much bullshit. Don't like hypocrites.

BertrandRussell · 01/03/2017 11:08

Love it when that 5 year old Coke advert is brought in to support the contention that men are objectified in the same way women are!

Londonsburningahhhh · 01/03/2017 11:37

If you have it then flaunt it and ignore the haters. Life is to short.

Londonsburningahhhh · 01/03/2017 11:54

Bert I miss that advertSad

BertrandRussell · 01/03/2017 12:19

Really? It just made everyone look vacuous..

AmericanPastoral · 01/03/2017 12:49

I agree OP. It's pretty much always the girls exercising their right to expose their bodies. You can't imagine the two guys having a similar picture taken. www.google.co.uk/search?q=emma+watson&safe=active&espv=2&biw=1920&bih=950&site=webhp&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjmkZmhq7XSAhUDJMAKHVARB_AQ_AUIBigB#safe=active&tbm=isch&q=emma+watson+daniel+radcliffe+and+rupert+grint&*&imgrc=zBOBBAs7wpKFvM: Also disappointing as she is promoting Beauty and the Beast.

Londonsburningahhhh · 01/03/2017 12:55

Daniel Radcliffe in Vanity Fair topless. Is it the fact that you see him as the less attractive one out of the two so he will never be asked to do a sexy shoot.

BeMorePanda · 01/03/2017 12:56

She's not topless and it's a high fashion shoot for VF, not aimed at children.

Plus she can do what she wants with her body & doesn't need you to police that for her thanks.

This all reeks of the "your skirt is too long, your skirt is too short", "you are showing too much flesh, you aren't showing enough flesh", "you are too fat you are too thin" crap that is aimed at women Every.Single.Day and is extremely TEDIOUS.

MorrisZapp · 01/03/2017 12:58

The diet coke advert is the Godwins Law of feminism threads.

Why of course. A man showing his chest totally equates to generations of wall to wall objectification of women.

We're all equal now! See also The Chippendales.
