Dear God. This is his next stage. All out war on ISIS. Wanna bet the day is filled with news of air strikes with loads of civilian casualties?

merrymouse · 29/01/2017 11:42

I don't see how the Royals can allow Trump to do this. Charles is the next head of state. You can't pick and choose which royal you want to hire for your photo op.

I actually feel sorry for TM. She's caught squarely between a rock and a hard place. Brexit has put the UK in a position where trade deals with non EU countries are vital to us- making our relationship with the US more important than ever. I suspect she has her views on Trump like we all do- she is a woman after all so can hardly be immune to his misogonistic attitudes, but what choice does she have? It's such a total mess. I dispair of the state the world is in and the rise of these racist attitudes. Organisations like the BNP must be clapping their hands with joy at what we're becoming.

Chippednailvarnishing · 29/01/2017 11:44

Apparently Trump doesn't want to meet Charles anyway because of his views.

amispartacus · 29/01/2017 11:45

Has our great Foreign Secretary got anything to say today?

I just have the nasty feeling that the last two days were to keep our eyes off the ball. The air strikes. Has he declared war???

IMPORTANT. Donald Trump filed with @FEC for 2020 reelection on January 20th, 2017. This is major for several reasons. /1

Lweji · 29/01/2017 11:48

I wonder what Trump would have to do to be Hitler..

We have the concentration camps to look forward to.

First and foremost, it is NOT NORMAL. Obama filed for 2012 reelection in April 2011. Incumbent declaring before midterms is unheard of. /2

Several MAJOR implications. If officially a candidate, can use candidate status to curry favor with PACs, businesses, other organizations /3

Because he's acting as Trump the candidate, not Trump the president. Different rules apply. /4

Even more importantly - completely changes how non profits can handle him. 501c3's cannot "campaign" or risk losing nonprofit status. /5

It means they can't speak negatively about him. Imagine @PPact having to convey risk to #PlannedParenthood w/ limits on how to address. /6

This throws nonprofits' strategy for next few years into chaos. They must figure out how to work against Trump w/o "campaigning." /7

And further muddies the already swampy ethical waters of financial gain, #conflictsofinterest & business transactions. /8

Filed 5PM #InaugurationDay2017. 5 HOURS after swearing in. This is what #TheResistance is up against. /9

Diabolical maneuvering to skirt all conventional forms of #resistance. Norms don't matter; it's all about finding new ways to silence us /10

This is IRS regulation re. 501c3s. They're smart, creative & used to this, but adds add'l hurdles/potential legal battles they don't need.

GingerIvy · 29/01/2017 11:51

Trump filed to re-election at FIVE PM on the day of his inauguration, in order to sidestep rules and tie hands of those that might oppose him. It also changes finance rules.

GingerIvy · 29/01/2017 11:52

filed for re-election, not "to"

I think Hitler worded it so he was only moving them to safer places...for work. Slowly, slowly catch the worm

Boris Johnson to be summoned to Parliament over British citizens hit by Donald Trump’s Muslim ban

Peregrina · 29/01/2017 12:04

I actually feel sorry for TM. She's caught squarely between a rock and a hard place.

I don't. Some of it she has brought on herself. She was happy to support anti-immigrant policies while at the Home Office. She was supposedly going to be a critical ally of Trump's and not be afraid to speak out. She has had to have mealy mouthed statements dragged out of her. She has employed someone who acts as a buffoon as her Foreign Secretary.

Good idea. Get him while he's out and keep him out. A dinghy in the middle of the Atlantic sounds good.

Has anyone checked his FB page for hate speak?

Floisme · 29/01/2017 12:12

Didn't Boris Johnson go missing the weekend after the Brexit vote too? Grin

As for Theresa May, I think she's being hoisted by her own petard. She got to be where she is by staying quiet about Brexit but now she represents the whole country and keeping your head down just won't cut it any more. It'll be interesting to see whether she has the wit to see this and adapt.

Floisme · 29/01/2017 12:14
