I am placemarking. This is all so awful that I can't even bring myself to say how amazing it all is.

EB123 · 29/01/2017 11:16

Oh god Farrage is on the BBC1

BigBadgers · 29/01/2017 11:17

Current count for tomorrow's march at Downing Street.
3.7K going
8.6 interested.

Ginger - that Guardian article about the sacking of top state department officials (which I knew about but hadn't seen placed in its wider context before) and sacking of diplomats is terrifying. Even if they don't start a war deliberately the chances of them starting one by accident are alarmingly high.

ZebraOwl · 29/01/2017 11:20

You can see where the people who've signed the petition against Trump's state visit are located here: petitionmap.unboxedconsulting.com/?petition=171928

Worth noting the areas of London with a large Jewish community have a lot of signatories, no?

Love how Farage's vision of Britain standing on its own feet forgot to mention that it also meant being bent forward while Trump screws us.

GingerIvy · 29/01/2017 11:21

Het - it really is scary. They will control everything.

Fuck, imagine the bullet we dodged though. This is bad but imagine if we had a president who was a lady who sent emails? Shit, bro. Scary.

A statement from Tim Farron, lib dem leader on the trump visit

“Downing Street has finally distanced itself from President Trump’s appalling ban on Muslim people after Theresa May failed to do so. By then the damage to Britain’s reputation had been done.

“The British people were waiting for a Love Actually moment, instead they saw our prime minister behaving like Trump’s poodle.

“Any visit by President Trump to Britain should be on hold until his disgraceful ban comes to an end. Otherwise Theresa May would be placing the Queen in an impossible position of welcoming a man who is banning British citizens purely on grounds of their faith.

“Still Boris Johnson’s Foreign Office is dithering and has provided no travel advice to British citizens who could be caught up in the ban.

“When will Theresa May’s Conservative Brexit government stop costing up to unsavoury leaders and get a grip of this mounting crisis?”

GingerIvy · 29/01/2017 11:26

Okay. Sorry, not a huge fan of Farron, but this was excellent.

The British people were waiting for a Love Actually moment, instead they saw our prime minister behaving like Trump’s poodle.

CNN - More angry protests against President Donald Trump's immigration policies are set for Sunday across the country after hundreds of demonstrators converged on airports the day before.

Protests are scheduled today in Washington, Orlando, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Seattle, and Chicago, mostly at airports.

BigBadgers · 29/01/2017 11:27

Not only sent emails ginger but sometimes she looked a bit sternly in the direction of Russia. Phew, thank heavens Trump isn't doing anything that might start a war with anyone like implementing policies that impact on the lives of people from a specific country....oh wait...

BigBadgers · 29/01/2017 11:30

So, it sounds like Farage is saying how awesome he thinks Trump's policies are and that he thinks the UK should do the same. What a cunt.

BigBadgers · 29/01/2017 11:31

Farage similarly enthusiastic on Trump's wall: “What is controversial about defending the Mexican border?".
He's gone full-blown Fox News.

Some UK politicians will be remembered in history for how they treated Trump.

This one introduced British values to the curriculum

No fan of Charles but think if he will stand up to trump then he should be allowed to.

amispartacus · 29/01/2017 11:37

People on twitter get fed up with Hitler comparisons when Trump does things. They tell you you're pulling the Hitler card

I wonder what Trump would have to do to be Hitler...if banning refugees, detaining people, limiting travel, looking at social media profiles, calling the press liars, lying to the people, blaming groups of people for the country's issues, gagging officials from speaking out isn't enough.

#MuslimBan: Trump’s Immigration Executive Order Is A Blueprint For Mass Deportation
The Executive Order is premised on Trump’s belief that “many” of the 11 million immigrants in the country without papers pose a “significant threat national security and public safety.” This language, combined with a later clause empowering low-level immigration officers to deport anyone based on their singular judgement that someone poses a “risk to public safety or national security” is a clear signal that President Trump wants his Deportation Force to feel completely empowered to target anyone.
