Am catching up on last night's The Last Leg & apparently Trump's "people" have requested a "Full Monty" visit
- so TLL thoughtfully provided a preview (pic from their Twitter; if you can't read the pants, they say "Don't/be/a/dick/tator"). Trump's also demanded to be allowed to play a round on HMQ's private golf course "while she watches on". Jaysus is there no end to the man's ego?!
That scum-sucking pile of shite who had himself excused from the army because he had hurty feet thinks he's any right to be asking a 90yo woman who DID do War Service [obviously not seeing active service; though of course her sons, grandsons & husband all have!] & lived through fecking air-raids to stand about & watch him twit around because he fancies himself a statesman rather than a windsock that has, by some hideous explosion of diarrhoea by the Donkey Of Destiny, managed to become President of the United States... Jesus Mary & Joseph HAS HE NO SHAME?!
(And I am very VERY angry about ALL the other things, yes, but this has just tipped me over. I hope HMQ "has a cold" when that great oaf visits & that Prince Charles breaks out the Duchy Originals [& his enviromentalism] & the DoE holds Trump in the contempt he so richly deserves. For all he's famed for his of-his-generation!racism [not that all that generation share or express those views!] I don't see the D of E taking to Trump: Trump is brash, vulgar, boastful, a liar - unstatesmanlike in every way. And if he does something to upset HMQ &/or is disrespectful towards her...)
It's all just so sodding awful. I actually find myself glad my grandparents aren't any of them alive to see it. I never knew my maternal grandfather - he was older than granny, she was his second wife, the first died when he was stationed out in India between the two World Wars. A branch of his family tree was burned away in the Holocaust - all his German cousins & aunts & uncles. Our line moved to Ireland, and as one did, in the late C19, converted to Catholicism. But the family in Germany... And both sides have seen Mixed Marriages with all the sectarian tensions that brings. My paternal grandmother witnessed her mother being told off by a priest because she was taking food to Protestant neighbours during the Great Depression in the 1930s - she ignored him & kept on doing it, which was a HUGE deal. To see this kind of shite rising up again, when we were meant to have learned, we were meant to know better, meant to BE better... just... it feels like failing the people who went before AND the rising generations & that's a quite astonishing amount of failure, frankly. And obviously we can do our best to protest, to resist, to mitigate - but I am so SO afraid it won't be enough.
