When the PM said she would call Trump out on things she disagrees with, she was lying

I think that Fox News peddles the DM in the US Chipped, my very republican voting, including some Trump lovers, in laws are fans of both DM and Fox 'news'.

I too think Pence is a much safer bet, I might not agree with his views understatement of the year but he is sane, an experienced politician and more inclined to act with some degree of diplomacy than the mad man currently in the White House.

I know quite a few people who voted for Trump, from very wealthy folk to people who are immigrants from the far east and not so wealthy. A real cross section of society who believed the crap he spouted on his campaign trail.

Chippednailvarnishing · 28/01/2017 21:09

Maybe she agrees with him.

She's hardly fighting for the NHS at the moment is she?

M0stlyHet · 28/01/2017 21:09

Pence would be just as disastrous domestically, I think (in terms of women's rights, freedom of the press etc.) but he is much less likely to start WWIII.

ZebraOwl · 28/01/2017 21:09

There's a Twitter account called Trump_Regrets RTing everyone who says they're regretting voting Trump. People coming out against "The Muslim Ban".

In other, more depressing news, a mosque in Texas was the target of an arson attack hours after that particular Executive Order was signed: thinkprogress.org/islamic-center-of-victoria-fire-8a683f632a7a#.3329pw4hw

Chippednailvarnishing · 28/01/2017 21:10

Didn't know that about fox Barchester.

Pence in theory would have to answer to his religious backers too.

I've been following these threads but not much to add.
Glad to see so many countries standing against Trump , just a shame ours isn't one.

GingerIvy · 28/01/2017 21:15

One of the Iraqi men detained at JFK due to the new Muslim refugee ban has been allowed to leave. 11 others are reportedly still detained.

(according to News and Guts twitter - Dan Rather, journalist)

And the call is being echoed more and more. This affects UK citizens and May needs to comment.

If British dual citizens are affected by the migrant ban then Theresa May is surely obliged to reverse her stance & comment on US policy.

@timothy_stanley Had confirmation that the order does apply to myself and my wife as we were both born in Iraq. Even if we are not dual Nat.

So far this writer has also pointed out toddlers and lawn mowers as culprits. He says we need to ban them all. Grin

21 toddlers killed Americans with guns last year. This makes me shudder. I once sat next to a toddler on a plane.

Come on Tory politicians, break ranks from going along with whatever Theresa dictates. It's at least one of your own MPs affected.

This actually strikes me as rather sinister rather that just good old Trump batshit crazy.

How can America - a country build on refugees fleeing religious persecution (or oddballs bugger off so they could do as they want - whichever way you look at it) - be allowed to have a blanket ban of a group of people? It's not e en as if we are in a war situation - dear god, will he start interring people?

Again I say - most of any daesh inspired murderers on us soil have been homegrown - twisted by a feeling of alienation and aggression against them. This hardly helps. Also a shit load more people are murdered by citizens with legally held firearms. Are they going to ban angry unpopular weirdo teenage boys too?

GingerIvy · 28/01/2017 21:27

It's actually unconstitutional, and I suspect will create some serious fallout. I don't know how they stop it though.

amispartacus · 28/01/2017 21:28

You know there is going to be something happening in the US soon - and it will be home grown.

That will be an excuse, won't it...
