I think if US industry starts making noise Congress might start shouting...

originalmavis · 28/01/2017 21:31

I know shed loads of people who will be affected - people who work for multinationals who have to zip over to the States for meetings and conferences.

ZigAZigAhh · 28/01/2017 21:33

Every time I look at the headlines I am more and more shocked - what the fuck is happening?!

Chippednailvarnishing · 28/01/2017 21:33

Sadiq khan is very quiet...

GrouchyKiwi · 28/01/2017 21:33

I love Matt Haig. He's getting loads of trollery for his tweets.

I am ashamed of TM at this point. She should be speaking out boldly. So much for leading the world.

GingerIvy · 28/01/2017 21:36

Yes, Haig is brilliant and happily unrelenting. Grin

bluetongue · 28/01/2017 21:38

So Obama couldn't make the gun laws he wanted to stop children being slaughtered in schools but Trump has already banned some Muslims for no rational reason? Crazy stuff.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/01/2017 21:43

I'll be writing to my very Tory mp tomorrow. I'm not quite sure what to say, other than to ask him that the government doesn't make deals with the devil.

GingerIvy · 28/01/2017 21:45

The ACLU has just filed a lawsuit against Trump.

BigBadgers · 28/01/2017 21:46

I think our MPs should at the very least be standing up for British citizens that are being affected by this ban. They have to say something for fucks sake. I can feel some email writing coming on tomorrow.

amispartacus · 28/01/2017 21:49

And next week, Article 50 leglisation comes to the house

Someone needs to speak up - I don't want our country having to deal with Trump.

Spudlet · 28/01/2017 21:49

My MP is utterly useless - Tory and in the cabinet. She is a waste of good clean air, and I won't get anything beyond a boilerplate email back - if that. I wrote to her once before and didn't get so much as an acknowledgement. Rude.

But I'll write to her nevertheless.

woman12345 · 28/01/2017 21:49

And, it does affect this stupid Brexit stuff, choice between dealing with that or dealing with them, crap as the EU is, it's degrees of crap atm.
She's offered him sweeteners with the NHS, allegedly. All sorts could be down the line.

If he treats Americans like this, what hope is there for the rest of us.

Popular Presidents address Parliament in Westminster Hall. Less popular in Royal Gallery. Even less popular in Robing room. Room T holds 20.

saffronwblue · 28/01/2017 21:51

I feel quite shocked and dizzy by the events of this week.
McCain, who is a Republican I respect, has spoken out against Trump.

woman12345 · 28/01/2017 21:52

Their correspondence is tracked on 'Write to them'. I hadn't had and email reply for months from mine, but got a letter in days after using that site. Local councillors can be good too, they know the inside track of what's really happening and have a good flavour of how locals are feeling.

Asked May spokesperson on Brits banned from US: "We will always find ourselves in agreement on some things and disagreement on other things"

GingerIvy · 28/01/2017 21:53

It's official. May is utterly useless.

BigBadgers · 28/01/2017 21:55

Is the robing room basically the toilet? Grin

BigBadgers · 28/01/2017 21:56

She's like a stuck record. She can't deal with these new events at all, they do not compute.

Ratbagcatbag · 28/01/2017 21:57

Just placemarking for now. It's terrifying.

GingerIvy · 28/01/2017 21:58

I don't know.

I am gobsmacked at May saying nothing. NOTHING. Jesus, Ed Milliband has been vocally outspoken. Corbyn has been vocally outspoken.

Okay, Farage is delusional and says he thinks the British are "warming" to Trump. Personally, I think he's just feeling the flames of the bonfire. Hmm

woman12345 · 28/01/2017 21:59

Rather than me copying stuff between threads, do you want to go over here.
Recent postings pretty shocking, Michael Moore is urging everyone to head over to JFK.
