Yes, I think he did a brilliant job there. Very much to the point.

amispartacus · 27/01/2017 21:14

Laura Kunisberg is getting a lot of stick and abuse on twitter and in the press (daily mail) for daring to ask a question about 'what SOME people at home are thinking"

Please show your support for her. I think it's so important to show our press they should not worry about holding truth to power - I hope May stands up for her. But given her response to the DM and the judges, I doubt it.

I feel really fired up at the moment.

Made me laugh.

BigBadgers · 27/01/2017 21:36

By the way, if you are all feeling protesty there is a march for the NHS being organised in London for the 4 march. Thinking of going along with dh and dd before May sells it off to America

I feel like slapping Patriot Barbie. Again.

Allepo is a humanitarian crisis that had been ignored by this country for too long.
Let's create safe zones in Syria.

GingerIvy · 27/01/2017 21:40

I'm noticing that he is following written notes for speeches now. It's not a shocker, given his previous speeches. The questions from the reporters, however, they cannot script and that's where he falls apart.

GingerIvy · 27/01/2017 21:42

I can't watch Patriot Barbie - she's too bloody irritating.

ZebraOwl · 27/01/2017 21:47

WRT The Hand Hold, it's like a horribly badly done version of how one should hold pas-de-deux partners hand when walking/running etc (unless choreographed otherwise). Please note TM was, in this instance, The Bloke. And for all my PDD teacher insists It's All About Physics, I very much doubt she could lift Trump. At all. And I can't imagine anyone agreeing he was pointe!ready either... But now you can all imagine him tripping about in a tutu next time you need some cheering up.

GingerIvy · 27/01/2017 21:54

Trump is signing 3 executive orders right now at the Pentagon. One is the vetting thing.

Roussette · 27/01/2017 22:00

There's something wrong with that woman PB. (Patriot Barbie). I am not one for violence but really I could make an exception for her stupid smiling face.

not posted before on this thread before, but have been reading and so cheered by some of it, admiring pp's intelligence and wit and so on... but its just getting more and more depressing really isnt it?

GingerIvy · 27/01/2017 22:04

This is apparently part of one of the orders - the one dealing with beefing up the military - that is being discussed... I find it a bit disturbing, as (and perhaps I'm wrong) it seems to say they will be able to decide in the field that hey, killing civilians is okay and necessary.

Commanders could also re-examine limits on the number of civilian casualties that the military risks when it hits ISIL targets, Murray said. Known as the “non-combatant value,” the rule restricts the number of civilians who can be put at risk in an airstrike. Last year, the military delegated the authority for those attacks from higher headquarters to top officers in the field. The result was more airstrikes.

Roussette · 27/01/2017 22:08

yolo in a word... yes!

TheMysteriousJackelope · 27/01/2017 22:14

yolofish It is and it isn't.

If Pence had been elected, or Cruz, Rubio, or any of the others they would probably have done much the same but at much slower pace, and much more quietly. We would have been like frogs in warm water, not noticing it is getting hotter and hotter until it boils and we are too late. By pushing everyone's 'hot buttons' at once Trump is stirring up a hornets nest. I doubt Rubio or Cruz would have triggered a Woman's March, yet they would have done exactly the same with regard to abortion as Trump is doing. They wouldn't have scientists talking about a 'Scientists' March' in March yet they would have done the same as Trump with regard to climate change. Trump is forcing people to take notice and take action.

GingerIvy · 27/01/2017 22:14

I am watching to see if Dark Emperor Trump comes unglued at the Senate fighting back, especially re DeVos. Senator Elizabeth Warren is determined (quite rightly) that DeVos is never going to be approved. As more and more of his candidates are held up, are we likely to see a bigly Trump tantrum?

saffronwblue · 27/01/2017 22:33

Just watched the Irish senator - oh my!

Roussette · 27/01/2017 22:34

If DeVos gets in it is a complete travesty. 1million people have signed a petition against her and even alumni and students from her college have said she should not have this job. Public feeling is strongly against.

It's a close call, vote is on tuesday... at the moment there's 48 for and she needs 51 and it's stalled so it needs some Republican votes against, will they have the nerve, are they sheep....

I'm not from the US, I know nothing but having watched her interview she seems completely out of her depth (and as for the corruption with her millions donated to Trump... well, that's another matter...)

Trump is forcing people to take notice and take action.
TheMysteriousJackelope I'm going to take strength from that, thanks.
And get back to sending emails to MPs, abortion charities, scientists for EU.

amispartacus · 27/01/2017 22:38

rump is forcing people to take notice and take action

He is. It may be his undoing. I do worry what will happen if he loses the next election. Will he go quietly?

woman12345 · 27/01/2017 22:38

BigBadgers thanks for NHS march, presume you all know the
Stand up to Racism one and Lobby parliament for the 3 million coming up.

HamletsSister · 27/01/2017 22:39

Apologies if everyone has already seen this but Pence! Agh.

SanFranBear · 27/01/2017 22:40

Jackelope - you make an excellent point.

I think the other thing, seen as a strength by his supporters, is the fact he's not a politician so has no idea how to talk the talk. I mean, he can't even string a sentence together without using made up words or rambling like a loon but to be generous, he says what he thinks. It's just a shame that what he thinks is 'I'm the bigliest, most important, most tremendous and adored precedent EVA and boo to all of yous haters' Sad

Perhaps if he came across as intelligent and like he'd thought before opening his mouth and he knew what the fuck he was talking about and could move past the shit inauguration crowd and got to the point and answered a bloody question, we'd be a bit more forgiving?

GingerIvy · 27/01/2017 22:41

Roussette Yes, they need at least 3 Republican senators to vote against her. All of the Democrat senators are against her.

I think if she is confirmed, there will be a huge eruption... that will redefine "yuge!"

Rainbunny · 27/01/2017 22:41

Good clip Lweji. We need responsible media like this to keep showing up the ineptitude and incompetence of the Trump White House in clear terms.

I've posted before that I have inlaws who voted for him, they are not stupid people, they voted out of extreme dislike of the Clintons and because they are lifelong Republicans - it's in their DNA practically, so not voting Republican was never even an option for them however much they may have distaste for Trump himself. I want them to experience the damage Trump will do to the USA (along with a GOP controlled House and Senate that will push through extreme legislation with little opposition) and see how long they can continue to defend their voting choices to me.

GingerIvy · 27/01/2017 22:42

Pence also said he was okay with women getting abortions via C-section, so that it was as invasive as possible.

Cuz, you know, that way they LEARN something, I suppose, eh? Fucker.
