Bloody hell. She's finished. They are all stood up, whooping and hollering and clapping. Trump is gonna HATE her.

She can talk the talk but can she walk the walk

What things didn't she mention?

Roussette · 26/01/2017 21:16

Yes agree, can she... but after being trumped for so many days now, it was just so refreshing to hear a proper leader of a country speak eloquently and with passion and not the incoherent ramblings of DT

Twitter is on fire with praise

So no chance of steel imports to the USA from the UK.

Watching the Trump speech - I am shocked at the massive round of applause for the Mexico city policy from Republicans.

AlwaysTheWinner · 26/01/2017 21:20

It's going to be very entertaining when they are stood next to each other at tomorrow's press conference! Wonder what time it's on?

amispartacus · 26/01/2017 21:21

30 day termination of trade contracts - wow. Who would want to trade with the USA?

saffronwblue · 26/01/2017 21:23

So glad to hear may being explicit about support of Eastern Europe /baltics.

Roussette · 26/01/2017 21:25

Yes me too saffron.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/01/2017 21:35

I can't stand her and there was a huge amount of 'let's rule the world together' I thought but there was also some really responsible stuff in there too, esp about eastern europe.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/01/2017 21:36

and about not confusing Islam and Islamists. That was very good.

amispartacus · 26/01/2017 21:43

I thought but there was also some really responsible stuff in there too, esp about eastern europe

At the start, there was a subtle reminder about equal rights for everyone. And a reminder that Islam is a peaceful religion.

InformalRoman · 26/01/2017 21:53

More rumours: Sean Spicer also registered to vote in two states, and a White House Leaks Twitter account (now gone) that Priebus on point of walking out because it's such a shit storm. Plus nobody knows if it's even technically feasible to build the wall.

PS I'm an engineer, I think it will be (ahem) challenging ...

Formerpigwrestler9 · 26/01/2017 21:53

Theresa shows trump up for the incoherent got that he iis

originalmavis · 26/01/2017 21:59

Oh please let it be true about Bullshit Spice!

AgedRelative · 26/01/2017 22:05

I'm new to the thread and have finally caught up. DH is also sick of my bigly Trump hatering, my DC are not and are delighted that I allow them to use the word fart on repeat when talking about him (7 and 5 and hate the orange one - so proud).

Can't get TMs speech yet - two minutes until the news here. I think due to FARTUSes being hard of thinking, in an elegant manner obvs, that he will not be able to hate her. She is his Maggie May (and I'd bet he asks if she minds him calling her that, boak) and it's part of his monologue that they are great buds.

God can they inaugurate her? She'd be better than him. They can fake birth records. But what conservative would be better than her (shit or vomit on your chips folks)?

Sorry. Should have just place marked.

originalmavis · 26/01/2017 22:07

Ok I'll take one for the team.

"Trump was born in Scotland."

(Off to chop off my typing fingers now ...)

Destinysdaughter · 26/01/2017 22:07

Some of the tweets about Mexico are funny...

"Simply put, any policy proposal which drives up costs of Corona, tequila, or margaritas is a big-time bad idea. Mucho Sad."

SanFranBear · 26/01/2017 22:07

Can you imagine if the Emperors chief of staff actually walked out after one week in the job!

I don't like Mrs May and I don't always like her policies and I definitely don't like her party but she is clearly intelligent, eloquent and hopefully has the courage to stand up for what the British actually want. I don't know what that is and am under no illusions that it is what I want as such but there are some lines in the sand that she cannot cross.

I love the fact that she got a genuine ovation - as you said up thread Rousette, Trump will hate that Grin

Lweji · 26/01/2017 22:08

PS I'm an engineer, I think it will be (ahem) challenging ...

May they'll just build a metre high wall and then take photos to make it look like 10m.

Having said that, I think Mexico should do a Trump. Tell him now that they'll pay, then refuse to pay. Even declare bankruptcy.
Although, with any luck (for Mexico) the US will go bankrupt first. California and NY and other Democrat(ic) states will declare independence and let the Republican states benefit from the glory that is a Trump Presidency.

SafariSoGood · 26/01/2017 22:09

Thanks Roussette for your AMAZING, beaootiful words.

What stars we have on this thread, the BEST!!!!

originalmavis · 26/01/2017 22:10

I work in a subsidiary industry and been watching engineers are having a really good laugh working out how/if that bloody wall could happen (and estimating costs).

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 26/01/2017 22:12

I have just read the news about the Doomsday clock and it's actually really upset me. It brings home what a terrifying man Trump is. I find it so so frightening that one single man can present such a threat that the scientists would place us closer to catastrophe than at any point previously bar 1953 (nuclear threat).

GingerIvy · 26/01/2017 22:13

There was an article about how it would be extraordinarily difficult to build a wall. Something about the water table for part of it??

InformalRoman · 26/01/2017 22:14

OK, next rumour - Trump has an executive order ready to lift sanctions on Russia.

With the wall - maybe it will just be 1m high, but he'll use his own hands for scale so it will look huge, tremendous, a bigly wall.

Roussette · 26/01/2017 22:14

Welcome beautiful agedrelative !

Like her or loathe her, TM did make some worthwhile points... Islam is peaceful, globalism is good, climate change is a priority... and she praised the United Nations and Nato

Stick that where the sun don't shine Trump.
