RESIST banner flying high.

I am very impressed that out TV has remained in one piece with that gobshite on it.

I'm reminder of going to see mum and her TV having a weird stripe across the top of the screen. She had lobbed her walking stick at if when a particular politician that she loathed came on.

God, I'm getting like my mother!

GingerIvy · 26/01/2017 22:18

I would just love to see all the countries of the world refuse to deal with them as long as he is President. Hes so arrogant that he thinks everyone is lining up to deal with him, and it seems a bit like they're all on the other side of the room, pushing each other, saying "you go first.." "no, YOU go first.." "I'm not going first..."

lljkk · 26/01/2017 22:19

I have had a brain wave, could UK do a good trade deal with Mexico? 12th largest economy in the world.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 26/01/2017 22:19

I've not followed these threads but have just seen DT in the news. Listening to him speak is cringeworthy , he has no oomph about him at all.

Roussette · 26/01/2017 22:20

Informal mobile.twitter.com/Khanoisseur this guy who has his finger on the pulse says the same. DT is talking to Merkel then Putin on Saturday apparently.

His tweeter feed is savage in pointing out why Trump will be doing this.

On the 100 Days programme on BBC News they said that the resignations in the state department aren't unusual - but for them to be accepted is. When a new administration comes in, a lot of senior officials have to resign but are then immediately reinstated. However, in a move not seen before, Trump has accepted them. So when Rex Tillerson finally makes office, he's going to have no staff. In addition, these aren't roles that can be filled by 'outsiders' so he's going to have to look internally to fill them so it's going to be a very inexperienced state department which is actually terrifying. This is the department that overseas foreign affairs and policy..

Question Time will be interesting tonight! Anyone watching?

amispartacus · 26/01/2017 22:32

Steve Bannon, Trump's Chief Strategist

"The media should be embarrassed and humiliated and keep its mouth shut and just listen for awhile," Steve Bannon said during a rare interview with The New York Times on Wednesday.

"I want you to quote this," Bannon told the Times. "The media here is the opposition party. They don't understand this country. They still do not understand why Donald Trump is the president of the United States."

We live in strange times The White House attacks the press in the USA
The UK press attack the judiciary and label them enemies of the people.

Interesting times

InformalRoman · 26/01/2017 22:35

Rousette that's where I got it from. And that Russia stands to benefit by $1 trillion if sanctions are lifted. Which is why Russia allegedly helped Trump win the election because no way would Clinton ever lift sanctions if elected.

originalmavis · 26/01/2017 22:35

You really can't tweak the nose of the press. They know where all the bodies are buried.

Rainbunny · 26/01/2017 22:36

I just visited my inlaws who voted for Trump. They were beginning to look nervous to my amusement, apparently they didn't think Trump would try to do half the things he said he would during the campaign. They are really beginning to get nervous about the repeal of the ACA too as it's finally occurred to them that health insurance will get more expensive for EVERYONE due to market instability. They are looking even more worried about the noise coming from Congress now about reforming social security and medicare, I think they didn't expect a GOP controlled House and Senate and if reform gets a strong vote there's not much Trump can do to stop it.

Frankly after years of listening to my inlaws blame everything on the Democrats (when in fact every policy that has directly improved their lives has come from a Democratic administration) and talk about "small" government, fiscal responsibility, low taxes and trickle down theory bullshit I'm really looking forward to seeing how a Republican controlled White House, House of Representatives and Senate will fuck up the country and make their lives worse. It's the only solace I can take from Trump winning.

Lweji · 26/01/2017 22:36

However, in a move not seen before, Trump has accepted them.

Maybe he signed the acceptance without realising what they meant.

So, either he and Rex are looking to a major overturn of the status quo, so that they don't have experienced people who would face up to them or realise what they are doing, or someone is going What the fuck did you do, Donald?

originalmavis · 26/01/2017 22:37

Did you gloat? I do hope you gloated bigly.

InformalRoman · 26/01/2017 22:38

Someone is calling for people to write out the First Amendment on a postcard and mail it to Bannon.

He sounds a bit desperate to me - they've lost control, put too many backs up, look at how the press are reporting on Trump - constant fact checking and calling out on the lies.

Roussette · 26/01/2017 22:42

Informal That is so scary. Reading his twitter feed I admit I don't understand all of it!) makes me realise, there is far far more to Trump's win than we imagined.

A tweet...
"People guilty of voter fraud under Trump's (terrible) definition: Tiffany Trump, Jared Kushner, Sean Spicer, Steve Bannon, Steven Mnuchin"

Get out of that one, Mr. Small Hands...

Adam Khan‏ @Khanoisseur
More I examine Kushner's Russian, Chinese $ ties, more I'm convinced Trump was just a vehicle to transport Kushner to the White House

woman12345 · 26/01/2017 22:44

From that link of yours Roussette also don't understand all of it but it smells funny.

amispartacus · 26/01/2017 22:44

I would love to be the journalist who asked Sean Spicer if Trump thinks that people with 2 state registrations were illegal voters

Roussette · 26/01/2017 22:44

Please let Trump be registered to vote in two states... please...
We just need Kellyanne on that list too and it will be perfect.

Lweji · 26/01/2017 22:46

Has anyone checked Donald Trump? I hope at least he's not also registered to vote in the Winter White House state.

Roussette · 26/01/2017 22:46

Totally agree woman on Kushner.
