I wonder what well know environmentalist Prince Charles thinks about Trump.

State visit could be interesting.

GingerIvy · 26/01/2017 17:23

The mayors of the "sanctuary cities" are banding together in defiance to his orders.

And Fox news is rabbiting on saying the polls are saying people approval rate is going up and up, and asking things like "look at these people picketing - don't they have jobs?" Fox news is firmly wedged up Trump's ass.

GingerIvy · 26/01/2017 17:24

You know what - Prince Charles' approval rating would skyrocket if he told Trump to piss off re climate control. I would heartily approve.

merrymouse · 26/01/2017 17:26

all these threats make Trump look as though he is on the brink of losing control.

Deux · 26/01/2017 17:26

This is all scary, scary rhetoric. I've just read an article about how the Doomsday Clock has been moved forward and it's the closest it's ever been to midnight. 2 and a half minutes.

Article here for anyone interested.

State visit could be interesting

It would be a test of diplomacy.

Roussette · 26/01/2017 17:30

For once in my life I wish our Royals could be more political. I can imagine Charlie Boy's views on Trump's non eco views. Wouldn't it be great if he could respond.

Can you imagine being stuck on Air Force One with him right now? The ranting. The tantrums. He surely knows about the cancelled meeting with Mexico, the State Dept resignations, and his speech was picketed, plus his hotels are being bombarded with complaints because they can't reach the white house.

Problem is that Pence, while sane, is anti-abortion like that Texas rep was anti-abortion.

amispartacus · 26/01/2017 17:38

He respects the Royals. Maybe he might listen to the Queen. Not Phillip though.

But then again, they've lived through history. They've seen it.

Theresa May has landed in US, and the Trump romance begins. Asked how they'll get on, PM tells me: "Haven't you noticed? Opposites attract".

I feel ill.

He surely knows about the cancelled meeting with Mexico, the State Dept resignations, and his speech was picketed, plus his hotels are being bombarded with complaints because they can't reach the white house.

And then meeting with Theresa May who must know that the world is watching.

GingerIvy · 26/01/2017 17:40

She's playing this all wrong. How revolting.

BigBadgers · 26/01/2017 17:40

This is mildly cheering. There is talk of UK considering increasing funding for abortion charities abroad in response to trump's order cutting it. Clearly right now it is just words, but the government hasn't dismissed the idea and it is nice to see people calling for it

BigBadgers · 26/01/2017 17:43

Agree ginger. I suspect she is thinking like a lot of trump hangers on that she can influence him and get what she wants. I think she is wrong. Trump is mad and irrational, there is no bargaining with him. He is a toddler in full meltdown mode.

GingerIvy · 26/01/2017 17:45

Not to mention he respects power, NOT those who grovel.

merrymouse · 26/01/2017 17:47

PracticalIy I think a state visit to the UK by Trump is going to be quite difficult to organise. It will no doubt happen, but unless things change, I can't imagine that he would be able to visit without significant protests, and who will he visit for photo ops? Which celebrities would want to be seen with him?

The royals would do their jobs, but that would be it.

This one doesn't have the irritating Fox News cronies wittering on about how great Trump is. Speech hasn't started yet.

Just had to share the Onion headline:

Cockroaches Feeling Very Optimistic About Future Of Planet
www.theonion.com/article/cockroaches-feeling-very-optimistic-about-future-p-55154

Ahhh....it's funny 'cos it's true....

InformalRoman · 26/01/2017 17:53

This is an interesting article about how the people making The Apprentice had to try and make Trump look vaguely sane:

amispartacus · 26/01/2017 17:55

From the transcrip

DAVID MUIR: I called the author of the Pew report last night. And he told me that they found no evidence of voter ...

(OVERTALK)

DAVID MUIR: ... fraud.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Really? Then why did he write the report?

DAVID MUIR: He said no evidence of voter fraud.

PRESIDENT TRUMP: Excuse me, then why did he write the report?

Maybe he wrote the report and concluded there was NO evidence and reported there was no evidence.

BigBadgers · 26/01/2017 17:55

Just heard that May has said we could withdraw intelligence sharing if the USA starts using torture. She is confusing me at the moment. Hate the fawning, but then she says something like that and I think, yay!

I think she is trying to please everyone...Not always a strategy that goes well. You often just end up pissing off all sides.

amispartacus · 26/01/2017 18:00

The transcript - well, read it and judge for yourself

GingerIvy · 26/01/2017 18:02

There must be so much buttocks clenching among his staff right before he does a speech. Grin

amispartacus · 26/01/2017 18:10

Just heard that May has said we could withdraw intelligence sharing if the USA starts using torture

But we won't - as we need them
