I note they're also going for the "cute" factor in releasing a short video of Ivanka's baby learning to walk/crawling on the White House carpet.

Former Mexican President to Trump:

Donald, don't be self-indulgent. Mexico has spoken, we will never ever pay for the #FuckingWall.

InformalRoman · 26/01/2017 14:26

He's got to bite at that - surely?

birdybirdywoofwoof · 26/01/2017 14:27

And meanwhile, Theresa May goes along there, please Donald, please throw us a fucking bone.

Roussette · 26/01/2017 14:30

I've just read the Madeline Albright link. I always had a lot of respect for her in the past, that has now increased greatly.

Here is one of her quotations... orange one take note...
"There is a significant moral difference between a person who commits a violent crime and a person who tries to cross a border illegally in order to put food on the family table. Such migrants my violate our laws against illicit entry, but if that's all they do they are trespassers, not criminals. They deserve to have their dignity respected."

I knew he was bad, but hadn't realised how bad and how quickly it would happen. It feels like every news item from the US is worse than the last.

One side of DH's family live in the US (emigrated there from the UK about 50 years ago, have had kids and grandkids) and I was shocked to find out they voted Trump. They seemed like sensible, intelligent people so I can't understand it. They are probably not liking my Facebook posts! One of his family said 'we'll be proved right, you'll see, we'll get our country back'. I just don't understand how anyone would want the sort of country that Trump is planning to create.

BigBadgers · 26/01/2017 14:37

Bloody hell elektra have you managed to resist pointing out to them that it is not their country. They are immigrants so better head back to where they came from. Sometimes the double think of some people amazes me.

GingerIvy · 26/01/2017 14:46

elektra I'm American. Have tons of family and friends still in America, many who are Trump fans (some of the rabid kind). You would not believe how many times I've had to "hide post" in order to either maintain sanity or preserve a relationship with someone. I'm am, of course, not given that same consideration - anything anti-Trump that I've posted is jumped all over. It's pretty sad.

Roussette · 26/01/2017 14:46

I am finding it faintly amusing that DT is tweeting that Mexico better pay for the wall or he'll cancel the meeting next week.

Errrrmmm... hate to tell you, Orange One, but Nieto has already threatened to cancel the meeting if the Wall gets pushed when you both meet. So your thin skin has to get in with a tweet trying to cancel first.

It reminds me of idiot times as a young teen at school.... "I'm breaking up with you..."
"No! I'm breaking up with you first!"
"No! I said it first!"

He is a twat

GingerIvy · 26/01/2017 14:57

You can't say he's a twat!!

I said he's a twat first!!!

BigBadgers - with difficulty! Yes I am amazed at the double think too. Like it's OK for some people to be immigrants (white, English speaking generally). I don't want to fall out with all of his family, I had to leave the room before I exploded into a rant, but I think they were in no doubt what our opinions were.
GingerIvy - yes its tricky, I don't want to hide the things I believe in, but I don't want to create a rift. We were supposed to be going to visit them in America this year, planned before we had any idea Trump would be elected....

Also, we have friends who live in New York who have been protesting against Trump and I want to give my support to them too.

GingerIvy · 26/01/2017 15:16

elektra my ex made a lot of nasty comments about immigrants - I raised an eyebrow and asked if he needed to see my passport again to refresh his memory. "Oh, but you're different - you speak English." FFS. And believe me, I've heard that a lot!! Frustrating.

He's going to release a weekly list of crimes committed by immigrants.

Replace immigrants with Jews and then think how that sounds....

GingerIvy · 26/01/2017 15:23

amisparticus Hitler did the same thing. www.indy100.com/article/trump-weekly-list-immigrants-crimes-7547211

BestIsWest · 26/01/2017 15:24

We also have family in America. They are as appalled as us. One is gay and is genuinely frightened for herself and the future. She was on the Washington march at the weekend.

amispartacus · 26/01/2017 15:26

When we will have fire in the Reichstag happening?

MycatsaPirate · 26/01/2017 15:33

I have just read the transcript of The Donald's interview on Huffington Post.

The man is utterly delusional.

All those dead people voting. And illegals. How does that even happen? Don't they have any stringent procedures in place like the UK to stop illegal voting? Can you just register to vote anywhere?

Anyway. I hope he has a policy on the Zombie Apocalypse because if there were millions of dead people voting I'd be getting worried.

motherinferior · 26/01/2017 15:57

My mother nearly had a vote when dead, I have to admit. For the local elections. Only (a) my father refused to use her proxy vote on her behalf - a scruple I have to say I wouldn't have exercised as she was still technically alive (b) see (a) above. (She died the next day. )

But this is not exactly a common issue.

Roussette · 26/01/2017 16:13

Each press briefing is going to be fasinating.

But if I were a journalist, I would not really know where to start. So many areas to go down.
