I watched Sean Spicer, WH press secretary say that it was the biggest attendance at an inauguration

I wonder if people who want to believe Sean Spicer look at what they see on the screen and don't see that. Does their mind play tricks with them?

Do they think their eyes are playing tricks with them?

Roussette · 22/01/2017 08:35

Oh and Sean Spicer blamed the floor coverings... hilarious! The Secret Service denies all he says. And how much he was yelling all this out. It reminds me of when the kids were young and they did something they shouldn't and the denials got bigger and more daft!

If this idiot and Trump think people are going to shut up they are very wrong. They need to listen to the mood of millions of people and listen carefully to what Michael Moore said yesterday. We can't be made to accept beautiful propoganda in the free world.

My wedding photographer was at the march In Washington taking photos of some of the posters. Some great ones 😀

Spartacus they would rather believe that there is a massive conspiracy between the media, liberals and generalised bad people who are faking photos and making up news stories, then admit that they are wrong.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 08:39

So...OTOH the parks agency don't have crowd counts. OTOH this was the biggest inaugaration ever.

How can he say that if there was no crowd count?

And my favourite

I agree mavis there are so many impersonators and comedians and actors doing skits, I've lost all sense of reality as to what's real!

Trump HAS to keep his twitter doesn't he. It's the only way he can peddle his lies to his supporters. I'm just amazed at how less than 2 days in, DT and his press spokesman (and probably all his team) are so much on the defensive.

I have tons of American friends and (horrifyingly) family that are still very much pro-Trump that are appalled at the women's march and at the press for lying. I don't even know how to respond to it (other than "are you on glue??" Grin). They're all talking about how he's going to bring morals and Christian values and military strength back to the US. I guess they not noted his marital history. Confused

We WILL make Shropshire great again. All other counties are fake counties!

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 08:44

"Spicer claimed that Trump’s swearing-in was the first to use floor coverings on the grass near the Capitol, making open spaces more apparent.

But photos from 2013 show that plastic sheets were also used to protect the grass during Obama’s second inauguration"

If you tell a lie, prepare to have it challenged with facts. Real facts.

"Spicer said 420,000 people used the Metro on Friday compared to 317,000 for Obama’s inauguration four years ago.

The rail system in fact saw 570,000 trips Friday compared with 1.1 million at Obama's 2009 inauguration and 782,000 at his 2013 inauguration, according to the Washington Post"

Can Congress do anything about the President lying?

Lweji · 22/01/2017 08:47

Can Congress do anything about the President lying?

They won't bother with things this trivial.

They're waiting for the big ones.
I wonder if Pence has unpacked yet.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 08:48

The one good thing about this is that he will empower a lot of people who oppose him to get involved in resistance politics and to get that message across.

His supporters need to be challenged with hard facts. From independent sources. If Trump says one thing, his facts need to be checked and his supporters need to be challenged.

Spudlet · 22/01/2017 08:50

He was giving that CIA speech in front of the memorial for fallen intelligence officers. Going on and on about himself and the weather in front of a wall for people who died for their country, who aren't even named there.

What next, tap dancing on the tomb of the unknown soldier?

Angry

Thought this summed up the past 2 days

All things reality with Trump, maybe not so beautiful now!
illegitimateMortificadospawn · 22/01/2017 08:52

Well, at least we all now know why Paul Ryan spent the whole of Friday's inauguration smirking. He knows Trump is so 'out there' he's going to last about 5 mins before being impeached or bundled off to the funny farm. Did someone on here say Ryan gets the veep gig if Trump is impeached?

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 08:53

They won't bother with things this trivial

I wish they had PMQs. It would be great to see him challenged every week over things he's said that are blatantly untrue.

I have no doubt that things can be manipulated, misreported, not reported and spun. But he seems to think ALL the media are out to get him.

I wonder how much he'll be disowned by people who have been on his side but are now worried over his actions and behaviour.

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 08:55

Can he even tap dance? He's already established that God won't rain on his beautificness, so it won't be any Singing in the Rain.

Lweji · 22/01/2017 08:57

Ryan gets to be President if something happens to Pence if he becomes President and doesn't appoint a VP.
Once they are President, they can appoint who they want as VP.
So, Ryan doesn't get to be VP automatically, but could get to become President automatically.

Presumably POTUS and VPOTUS never travel together, royal family style.

Spudlet · 22/01/2017 08:58

Of course he can tap dance. He's the best tap dancer, the best! He makes the most beautiful, sensual hand gestures with his entirely normal-sized and not at all disproportionately tiny hands and makes a great, amazing sound with his not at all tiny feet.

Other people may suggest that he would look like an elephant in very tiny hobnail boots, but they are just jealous and have been taken in by the lying media. SAD.

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 08:59

No Pence gets the job first. If Pence loses the job, THEN Ryan gets it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/01/2017 09:00

Spicer statement

As my dd would say "Just Wow".

I'm going to have to tape my jaw shut today to stop it dragging on the floor.

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 09:02

I think if Pence gets job he will appoint Ryan VP.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/01/2017 09:02

Did people get confused and crawl under the grass coverings? maybe that's why we couldn't see them? Phooey!!!

Lweji · 22/01/2017 09:03

He said that it poured as soon as he left! Unless he meant the infamous liberal tears. When they went to say goodbye to the Obamas it was still not raining.

It's true that it rained very little, though. The Obamas and Clintons didn't bother with ponchos.

On the ABC live coverage the commentator said that either there were few people there or the vast majority were wearing white. I think someone was already spinning it or they predicted Trump LIES. Which is not difficult.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 09:05

From the Washington Post:

“This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period — both in person and around the globe,” Spicer said, less than a minute after declaring that “no one had numbers” because the National Park Service, which controls the Mall, does not release crowd estimates.

I would love to see how he reacts to challenges when he says 2 statements which contradict each other.

The question "How do you know?" is so important now.
