People like executive orders when they agree with the executive.

www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/oped/bs-ed-executive-orders-20161203-story.html

If they don't agree with the executive, then it's an overreach of executive power.

#cognitive dissonance

The craziness of Trumps tweet about shootings in Chicago when he has been funded and supported by the NRA.

Absolutely perverse.

MuseumOfCurry · 25/01/2017 09:34

What puzzles me is where is the democracy in this? Seems like he can do whatever he likes with a wave of his tiny hand. Does Congress not even discuss anything?

Unfortunately he's just carrying on as Obama did. Executive over-reach.

I loved Obama's ban on offshore drilling in the final days of his presidency, though.

SenseiWoo · 25/01/2017 09:36

This is going to be a chaos presidency. With a lot of corruption thrown in. And a dismantled infrastructure. Trump's team sent Obama officials packing without the usual grace period and with no one to replace them. In many cases they haven't even settled nominees for those jobs yet. The National Security Council is down to about two people, and nobody in the WH I going to pay attention to them. If an international crisis happens now, we're stuffed.

The latest edition of Private Eye just came through the letterbox:

The "people" are getting what they asked for. Good luck

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think Hilary Clinton would have been better.

Lweji · 25/01/2017 10:17

A small note on Melania's present to Michelle.

It turns out Michelle also took a gift when she first entered the White House. The difference was that she wasn't ignored by her husband like Melania has. Maybe that's why Michelle was frowning.

I love the park rangers.

Lweji · 25/01/2017 10:27

Executive orders are expected and Trump's were expected from him.
Sad, but expected.

It's Congress' job to monitor the President's actions and approve budgets.

It's his pettiness that is worrying, and how it looks like he's trampling over evidence based advice to impose his opinion.
He should trust the experts and he's not.

BigBadgers · 25/01/2017 10:30

whoseafraid are you suggesting Trump is a dead cat Grin

Lweji · 25/01/2017 10:43

More like a dead gerbil. Wink

BTW, I've found what Patriot Barbie really is doing. She has finally found success in stand up comedy. We all laugh at what she says now, unlike a couple of decades ago:

InformalRoman · 25/01/2017 10:54

Lweji - the trouble is Trump thinks he is the expert. On everything. And he's dumb enough for people to suggest things to him in such a way that he'll think it's his own idea. And because he's great, an expert, the bigly best on all topics, he won't take any advice on anything.

This guy is worth checking out

A pp mentioned him up thread (sorry to that pp I can't remember who you were off the top of my head)
I just wanted to reiterate

Roussette · 25/01/2017 11:16

It's all a nightmare. I'm shocked at the journalists covering the 'riots' (if that was what it was) being arrested. They've even had their cellphones confiscated. This is the US, not NKorea.

And so it begins....

Roussette · 25/01/2017 11:18

That Kellyanne clip.. bloody hell. I don't hear many people laughing.

I'm liking that twitter feed formerpig. That guy has a LOT of knowledge. He needs to keep tweeting before he's locked up for crimes against the State.

MsHooliesCardigan · 25/01/2017 11:29

That guy needs to be very careful. I can see him disappearing or dying in an 'accident'.

Roussette · 25/01/2017 11:34

His twitter feed is a complete eye opener. And he has facts to back up his claims.

He reckons son in law Kushner is the shadow POTUS and we should keep an eye on him. He has many fingers in many russian pies. not sure if they eat pies in Russia

"So two top Trump advisers, Schwarzman, Kushner did a $450M deal with Putin pal Leviev who is personally impacted by sanctions on Russia"

OP posts:
ChuffChu · 25/01/2017 11:37

This is all genuinely terrifying.

I really believed that it was just a load of spin. Trump saying stuff he knew was a load of bollocks just to get idiots to vote for him.

I figured he'd just make himself a shit ton of corrupted cash and enjoy waving his little dick around. But actually not do too much to upset the gravy train.

But arresting journalists, regressing on laws, alternative facts, threatening marshal law and that fecking wall!

This is going to be bad isn't it?

Lweji · 25/01/2017 11:37

It's basically a summary of many things that have been discussed in these and previous Trump threads.

Not much was a well hidden secret. However, Trumpettes chose to ignore anything that could stain their idol.

Lweji · 25/01/2017 11:40

But arresting journalists, regressing on laws, alternative facts, threatening marshal law and that fecking wall!

It's not like many people haven't warned about the probability of this before.

We had huge arguments here about whether his speech was fascist or not.
Well... So far not good.
