They are trying to stop information getting out about what they are doing in these departments. I imagine there is going to be a lot of 'restructuring' going on. I doubt it will work though. We live in an age when anyone in those departments can access tech and services like wikileaks that will help them to leak information. Not to mention all the hackers that are going after Trump. It will all come out I am sure. Really they are just drawing attention to themselves.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/01/2017 21:44

I hope that many employees have the courage to let the outside world know what is going on.

AlwaysTheWinner · 24/01/2017 21:48

Badlands National Park (@BadlandsNPS on Twitter) is flouting the EPA social media ban by tweeting facts about climate change. Their social media person is a hero! Grin

AlwaysTheWinner · 24/01/2017 21:53

Sorry, the National Park Service is part of the Department of the Interior, not the EPA.
I am learning an awful lot about the structures of government in the US.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 24/01/2017 21:56

There are some lovely wildlife photos on that @NPSBadlands twitter feed, as well as the climate stuff.

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 22:01

Watching press conference today. Asked about evidence of voter fraud. Trump has evidence. What evidence? Spicer moves on

AcrossthePond55 · 24/01/2017 22:02

DH and I spent a week at Badlands NP last summer. It's a beautiful place with ties to and respect for the Native American Community (one of the sections of the park is on the Pine Ridge Res).

I'm not surprised that they're standing tall.

Roussette · 24/01/2017 22:06

And DT talked of Hillary being crooked???! No, he has no shame. He is just a liar. He just repeats the same lies again and again as if we're all stupid and will believe it because we keep hearing it. I suppose that works for some deluded fans of his. He is a liar-in-chief, lying is ingrained in him.

I just hope the media will keep up the pressure and not give in.

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 22:10

Reporter: If Trump believes that there is over 3 million illegal votes, why won't he have an investigation into the biggest scandal ever in voting history?

Spicer: He believes it.

Yes, but why not investigate it?

Spicer moves on

SuburbanRhonda · 24/01/2017 22:11

I honestly thought maybe some of the bizarre behaviour was just him acting up and that once in post, he'd become more serious and focused on the job he has to do.

But judging from the links you posted, OP, if anything his behaviour is more alarming than anything we've seen so far. Surely someone in his inner circle will stop him?

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 22:14

Surely someone in his inner circle will stop him

In the USA, do they have 'a leader of the Opposition'? I presume it's someone who is a Democrat leader?

UnGoogleable · 24/01/2017 22:18

Yes, to some extent I think the inauguration crowd is the dead cat

Me too, very much so.

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 22:22

I think people have moved that - watching the press conference is fascinating.

There will be $10 TRILLION debt in 10 years - and he's been asked how they can save money. No real answers - except they have 'the right guy at the right time'

Lweji · 24/01/2017 22:38

I'm sure VW must be loving him now:

“I am, to a large extent, an environmentalist. I believe in it, but it’s out of control,” Trump said.

Indeed, nobody is an environmentalist like trump. He's the most environmentalist person ever. Like nobody respects women or has respect for the CIA like Trump.

However...
"his administration will focus on “real regulations that mean something” while eliminating those that he finds inhospitable to business."

Welcome to new polluting cars.

Thank god I'm still in the EU (not UK) who like out of control environmental protection.

PS - “It’s happening. It’s happening, bigly.” Bigly.

saffronwblue · 24/01/2017 22:40

Australia is very edgey about Trump shouting about China in the South China Sea.
We are trying to get through this by remaining friends with both China and the US.Don't want to have to pick a side between the playground bullies.

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 22:45

Sean Spicer was asked a lot about if there'll be an enquiry into the biggest voter fraud in history.

Or what evidence there is?

He was also asked if he believed it.

Trump does. But there won't be an enquiry. Yet. But anything's possible.

Lweji · 24/01/2017 22:45

But the TTP he's just withdrew from was quite a lot about sidelining and competing with China in trade around the Pacific.
If he wants to take on China, then he has just told his potential partners to fuck off.
That'll work.

originalmavis · 24/01/2017 22:46

He has a plan:

Get rid of laws protecting the environment

Make lots of dosh for himself with business deals to do with heavy (polluting) industries. But there will be jobs!

Get rid of affordable healthcare, so people poisoned by the environment will die quickly. Especially in Yeehaw states where heavy industries tend to be located. Erin Brockovitch is too sick to campaign.

He buggers off before lynching. But the Yeehaws are too sick to weild a pitchfork anyway. But they still love him anyway. It's all lies.

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 22:46

his administration will focus on “real regulations that mean something” while eliminating those that he finds inhospitable to business

If that was May talking, they'd be talking about worker's rights.

I really hope we don't sell our soul to the USA.

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 22:48

But there will be jobs

I wonder what else matters to Trump apart from American jobs and making America great again?

Is there anything globally that might concern him?

Lweji · 24/01/2017 22:48

That report (linked earlier) suggests that Trump's bones with attendance and other minor issues are not really dead cats, but real concerns for him.
Unless those staff leaks are to convince us that those stories are not dead cats, when they really are. Wink Hmm

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 22:51

Unless those staff leaks are to convince us that those stories are not dead cats, when they really are

This is a real lesson in manipulation and spin, isn't it?

It must be fascinating teaching politics at the moment. Or media studies.

Watching Sean Spicer not answer a question was fascinating.

Just got to the end of this thread. Fascinating. Terrifying. Thanks everyone for the education. I'm staying tuned in.
