Did anyone else just see Angry Spice and Patriot Barbie (love those nicknames Ginger) hugging behind Trump on the news just now? Put me right off my cocoa, it did. Envy

UnGoogleable · 23/01/2017 22:54

God is he still going on about the crowd size?

Does he have nothing else to do...????

Also, it pisses me off that the media insist on using the word 'Falsehoods' when the word 'Lies' is perfectly good. Why are they skirting around the issue. Donald Trump told lies on his first day as president. Sean Spicer told lies on his first press briefing.

Lies, lies, lies. Not falsehoods, fake news or alternative facts.

I really want the journalists to start hitting hard on this. Why are you lying Mr Spicer? Did you just lie on national TV Ms Conway? Why is Mr Trump spreading lies?

Lweji · 23/01/2017 23:01

I wonder if he's read the orders he's signed, or just signed what he was given.

They've been very quick to repeal and destroy. I wonder how they'll perform when trying to construct anything (even that Wall).

SuburbanRhonda · 23/01/2017 23:01

It's the new "being economical with the truth".

SuburbanRhonda · 23/01/2017 23:02

Have you seen his signature? Shock

amispartacus · 23/01/2017 23:03

God is he still going on about the crowd size

He tweeted that picture of the crowd just after the press conference.

I think someone should ask Sean Spicer why the President decided to tweet a picture of the inaugaration crowd 3 days after it happened and just after the press conference.

He really is sensitive. And apparently numbers don't matter - it will be interesting to see how he spins data on jobs in his term of office.

amispartacus · 23/01/2017 23:05

I just love how his press people basicaly say

"Stop going on about things. We want to make America better. Be positive"

I almost expect him to say that people who criticise him and don't say anything positive are unpatriotic. That's worrying if he goes down that route.

SanFranBear · 23/01/2017 23:05

What the fuck is wrong with him.. shouting INAUGURAL ADDRESS doesn't magically increase numbers and suddenly make you popular. Just when you think he's got past it... bam!

Let It Go man - you're the leader of the free world (supposedly).

I think it's quite interesting that the first thing he's really focusing on is trade and employment which is supposed to be his specialty. So trying to ease him in maybe?

Absolutely shitting it that the Syria peace talks blow up or a domestic terrorist attack happens or a fucking act of nature rolls in - what the hell is he going to do??

originalmavis · 23/01/2017 23:06

I watched the news and the pro trumpys just keep saying that the bad old media are just banging on about numbers. But Trump first brought up the subject, and on and on and I don't think he will ever stop mentioning it.

I've never seen such a contrite bunch of thick cry babies . Apparently they take him seriously, not literally (so lying on a daily basis is ok then).

So what other fibs will we hear - prices not going up, businesses not going bust because of labour and production costs, people dying because of lack of healthcare, the fucking wall...

His can his supporters stand by such a lying bastard? Says a lot about their own moral standards, eh?

amispartacus · 23/01/2017 23:11

I wish Trump was on AIBU. He would do at least 2 threads. And then a TAAT.

HelsinkiLights · 23/01/2017 23:17

Himself SanFran. As he's the biggest & bestest President in the whole universe

SanFranBear · 23/01/2017 23:50

Grin Helsinki

And on his supporters - you only need to see some of the responses to the Pope who wasn't outright saying Trump is a dick (although you just know he's thinking it). Apologies if this has previously been posted:

usuncut.com/politics/trump-supporters-defend-hitler/

They are as deluded as he is and pretty fucking scary Sad

FuckOffDailyMailQuitQuotingMN · 24/01/2017 00:11

amispartacus
I think Trump would do all kinds of threads. He would be on so many threads. It would be amazing.

And he'd be the best flouncer. He'd flounce 1000%, and it would be beautiful flouncing. It would be such good flouncing that it would make MN great again.

And we'd say we don't need that much flouncing. But we'd still get it.

NovemberInDailyFailLand · 24/01/2017 00:20

Melania would haunt the Relationships board, though.

SenseiWoo · 24/01/2017 00:46

Remember how Reagan dealt with his press conference mistakes? A joke, head on the side, a smile, a wave. He was so polite and nice that journalists pulled their punches. Who wants to be the meanie that humiliates America's favourite uncle?

Reagan would amble off, then his spokesman would bustle out again, say 'The President has misspoken' and give the answer Reagan had been supposed to give in the first place. Ronnie was always clever enough to stay above the fray.

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 05:26

I am so looking forward to his first press conference. I wonder who will bring up crowd size first? Will he mention the MLK thing instead?

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 07:25

I wonder if there are other countries where the press are supposed to say positive things about their Dear Leader and the actions of his Government?

TheElementsSong · 24/01/2017 07:32

I wonder if there are other countries where the press are supposed to say positive things about their Dear Leader and the actions of his Government?

Um, Brexit Britain?

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 07:38

Um, Brexit Britain

Grin

Yes, the Prime Minister doesn't have to worry too much about the press saying nice things and only reporting positive things about her Government - and criticising anyone who dares say negative things as they are 'talking the country down'

Lweji · 24/01/2017 07:39

Russia
North Korea
China
Venezuela
Angola

InformalRoman · 24/01/2017 08:07

I think the US press are going to put a lot of time and effort into fact checking everything that comes out of the The Trump administration.

But ... I'm still wondering if all of this inconsequential stuff about crowd sizes etc is to distract from what is / has being going on, especially with respect to all of Trump's ties with Russia (which he denies of course).

Anyone else following Adam Khan on @khanoisseur on Twitter? It's an eye opener!

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 08:16

Have you ever had a discussion with an avid Trump supporter?
The argument comes down to ignoring what he says - but just repeating "Make America great again"

Isn't that basically what Hitler said about Germany? Making Germany great again?

amispartacus · 24/01/2017 08:18

I think the US press are going to put a lot of time and effort into fact checking everything that comes out of the The Trump administration

Same here. It's amazing how 'facts' can ignore other facts. The source of the data tells a lot.

More or Less is fascinating. BBC R4

PausingFlatly · 24/01/2017 08:22

Yes, to some extent I think the inauguration crowd is the dead cat.
