To quote one of my friends:

"I'd call him a cunt, but he has neither the warmth nor the depth."

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 20:08

Roussette I know. It's like the ramblings of a drunken man. How can anyone take him seriously? If someone is writing those speeches, they should be sacked!

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 20:09

When Spicer presents information at the next press conference, I really hope he's asked if that is a fact or an alternative fact.

My god, that transcript!

Compare and contrast. And possibly weep, a little bit. 😢

It will be interesting to see how he reacts to the first crisis or major event. If his ramblings so far have been anything to go by he will either deny it as Fake News or turn it into an excuse to talk about how great he is.

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 20:36

Spudlet It's like night and day, isn't it?

InformalRoman · 22/01/2017 20:40

AcrossthePond Somehow I knew you'd say that! Hmm Smile

I always wanted one of those covert Secret Service jackets - you know, the ones with "Secret Service" embroidered on the back Smile

todgerthedodger · 22/01/2017 20:47

That speech at the CIA is absolutely embarrassing. My five year olds can speak better than that. Shocking!

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 20:49

People on Twitter are rapid at any criticism of Dark Emperor Trump. They can bring out absolutely NOTHING to defend him, but they attack over and over, very nasty, and demanding examples of when he's been less than wonderful. (seriously, who has that kind of time on their hands to list it all?)

Just ridiculous. And women going on and on about how these women probably didn't vote and how they are just sour grapes and how women have equality and so do minorities and everyone else..... Shocking that people are so naive.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 21:00

Shocking that people are so naive

And yet there are people who defend him who are prominent commentators over here and who have a prominent platform in the media.

Piers Morgan being one. And Hopkins.

I just wonder what May really thinks about Trump.

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 21:07

I think May will spend a fair bit of time biting her tongue, to be honest. I'm not a huge fan, but can only thank fuck it's her going over and not Boris. Grin

Piers Morgan is a twat. Hopkins as well. They support their fellow twats.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 21:38

Rewatching the inaugaration - you can see the live feed and the crowds. It's obvious the difference.

People who claim otherwise - well, I'm not sure what to say.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 21:40

I don't know how you even begin to engage with people who deny things that others can see with their own eyes.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 21:43

TBF to Trump, it probably did look to him from his perspective that the crowd went back to the Washington Monument.

Speaking of perspective:

MsHooliesCardigan · 22/01/2017 21:57

spartacus that's probably my favourite clip of all time. I actually do think it's important that we don't lose our sense of humour in all this. I think the Donald's worst fear is people seeing him as a joke.

Chippednailvarnishing · 22/01/2017 22:02

Alternative facts.

My favourite load of old bollocks yet.

PausingFlatly · 22/01/2017 22:04

That's what's so scary.

Every time Trump says something obviously untrue and impossible to defend, the only thing he and his supporters can do is distract by attacking other people.

So they will invent increasing numbers of imaginary enemies to rail against. Purely to save face.

OK lots of people do this to some extent, but in the world of the narcissist, this has no limits.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 22:05

I think the Donald's worst fear is people seeing him as a joke

Respect He wants respect. The Presidential office should be respected but the President and his team should act Presidential. You don't see other leaders of democracies acting like this.

His CIA speech and his encouragement of divisiveness - them and us. 'You all voted for me, right?" Then talking about the dishonest media.

One thing is - it should give psychologists in the USA (and abroad) plenty of air time.

Lweji · 22/01/2017 22:07

I'm sure the FBI and CIA behaviour analysts are having a field year.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 22:10

If ever people in relationships want to know about gaslighting, all that needs to be done is to point them to the last few days.

I can see a TV screen. I can see live feeds.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 22:15

I'm sure the FBI and CIA behaviour analysts are having a field year

As are KGB, MI5 and every other spy agency who has to tell their leader how Trump might react.

I wonder what his cognitive belief system is like. He strikes me as the kind of person who would want to believe something is true and then disregard any contradictory evidence. It would be easy for Governments and organisations to take advantage of that. Especially if he doesn't trust certain people.

Formerpigwrestler9 · 22/01/2017 22:19

Seems to me he believes he is so powerful/esteemed/ superior that can do as he pleases and others should defer to him

Getting the top job has surely only sent his already supercharged ego into the stratosphere, he won't be able to reign himself in or censor himself

Its going to be so fucking funny😂

Chippednailvarnishing · 22/01/2017 22:54

He really doesn't seem to have grasped the fundamental difference between heading up your own company, where you are making decisions that will hopefully benefit yourself. Compared to leading a country whos occupants all have different needs.
