ginger as far as I understand it Jerusalem doesn't actually belong to Israel and is a subject of current peace negotiations with the Palestinians. If America moved their embassy for Israel to Jerusalem they are saying they support Israel's claim to the city. This would understandably rather upset the Palestinians not to mention break international law.

Significance of moving the Embassy is huge. It is a) a big insult to the Palestinians, and b) an insult to most Arabs.
Jerusalem should not belong to "Israel", it was supposed to be a shared city, and was at one point partitioned.
By moving the embassy there the US would be legitimising the Israeli occupation of the whole of Jerusalem, it is a bit like if they put a Israel consulate in one of the Settler communities on the West Bank. (Or put one in Kurdistan.)
