'A lie can be half way around the world before the truth has even got its boots on' - shamelessly misquoting Sam Vimes there but I think that's what this administration is counting on.
Something I didn't realise was that according to the reporters covering the day apparently there's a good relationship between both sets of the Carters, Bushes, the Clintons and the Obamas. You could see it at the inauguration, they all seemed very genuinely friendly and chatty. I don't see the Trumps getting into that particular clique any time soon!

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 10:20

Yes, press secretary was like Angry Spice. 😄

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 10:20

I feel the need for some video work.

There are no tanks in Baghdad.
The crowds in the Mall were the largest crowds. Ever. Fact.

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 10:21

Does that make Trump Deluded Spice?

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 10:22

A lie can be half way around the world before the truth has even got its boots on

That works both ways. The truth will out. If the media can't get the message out, social media can.

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 10:23

I don't think his speech in front of them blasting everything they did is going to win friends with any former President.

Marcipex · 22/01/2017 10:23

An American friend told me that the people who voted for Trump are mainly people who can't afford a trip to Washington.

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 10:25

The ones I know are very mixed, but I'd say they could afford it, just don't usually go in for that type of thing.

Chippednailvarnishing · 22/01/2017 10:25

Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf is according to Wikipedia living in UAE.

I wonder how long before Trump has a Wikipedia department whos sole purpose us to change listings to Trump approved content...

InformalRoman · 22/01/2017 10:25

Of course, making a big thing if the dishonest press neatly diverted from any mention of the Women's Marches.

Trump team must be surely rattled if they are closing down any official WH comments on them?

Lweji · 22/01/2017 10:25

It would be fun if the press did decide to start a fake news campaign against Trump.
Just to keep watching him squirm and perhaps forget about other more pressing issues in his agenda.

On another note, in 4 years he'll be blaming fake news for the lack of a wall.
The Wall is there and it's beautiful. The press is lying when it says it only runs for a mile. It's 1000000 miles.

woman12345 · 22/01/2017 10:27

The truth will out amispartacus
I can't find the reference, but trump's mum, who found him strangely unloveable, apparently told him that. Maybe that's why he has a teeny weeny issue with truth.

Do you think all this is to get the news agenda away from the 673 marches and 2.5 million women? Hmm

Lweji · 22/01/2017 10:29

An American friend told me that the people who voted for Trump are mainly people who can't afford a trip to Washington.

That would make more sense than saying it was full.
Why the need to lie about something that was obvious?

InformalRoman · 22/01/2017 10:32

Just imagine how pissed off Trump will be when he finds out that not only does Chi-na already have a wall, it is more beautiful, tremendous, bigly and yuge than his planned Mexican Wall could ever be. IT'S A FAKE WALL!!!!

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 10:33

Normally in a dictatorship, the dictator uses the media to promote their lies.

I think I'm going to be taking an unusual interest in White House press conferences.

I do wonder what Hollywood movies will make of this.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 10:34

China could easily troll Trump with their wall.
As could Scotland. Maybe the Scots built the wall to keep the Romans out Grin

Marcipex · 22/01/2017 10:35

Dunno, Lweji, I just thought that made sense iyswim.

I'd forgotten about Hadrians Wall - no doubt it was built by the Clan Macleod.

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 10:43

Those were not the droids we were looking for. Sean Spicer after the press conference on the missing Death Star plans

Lweji · 22/01/2017 10:48

Dunno, Lweji, I just thought that made sense iyswim.

Yes, more sense than lying about being full.

MsHooliesCardigan · 22/01/2017 10:48

I've just watched Obama's 2009 inauguration speech and the contrast is so stark. For a start, he's a natural orator. There aren't staged breaks for applause. It's all about humility and co-operation and America's duty to help those less fortunate. The much bigger crowd are genuinely cheering. There is an atmosphere of hope and the sun is shining- no doubt a fake sun. How can the world change so much in such a short space of time?

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/01/2017 10:49

DD1 marched in Rome with her uni friends. I am so proud of her but now I'm going to have to tell her that they are all fake. Sad

Lweji · 22/01/2017 10:51

Spicer lies memes

Mind you, that's Buzzfeed, so all LIES. Nobody is tweeting those.

paxillin · 22/01/2017 10:54

Trump had the biggest inauguration crowd ever. Probably because Trump is America's first ever black president. FACT.
