Someone's lying

All things reality with Trump, maybe not so beautiful now!
SanFranBear · 22/01/2017 09:47

Great quote here from Vox:

Donald Trump is not becoming more presidential. The presidency, and the administration, is becoming more Trump-like

QueenOfThorns · 22/01/2017 09:48

Not to rain (fakely) on this thread. Which is the most beautiful thread ever. Since the last one.

But there's no such thing as Marshall Law. Martial law would be the pushing aside of the civilian government by the military, so if martial law was declared, it'd be the Donald out on his ear. Armadillo!

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 09:48

He is a religious fanatic. Ryan is not much better, although he is more of a "women have rights - they have the right to cook and clean and service men" type. No, he didn't actually say that, but it's the cloth he is cut from.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 22/01/2017 09:48

For a bit of light relief, here is Dubya reminding us that diplomacy was never his strong point.

I quite like that the 2 men are holding hands in that picture. Compared to Trump, Dubya has a childlike simplicity and naïveté about him - although he did awful, awful things in power.

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 09:51

Sorry autocorrect keeps changing it for me. Stupid iPad. Martial (this time it tried Martian instead, perhaps that's better).

It states head of military. Trump is president. Can you really not see him making the attempt?

paxillin · 22/01/2017 09:51

His monstrous vanity means he simply has to have the biggest anything. For his next public appearance all of his employees will be bussed in to be bums on seats. His hotels and golf courses will close for the day.

Pence will be president soon, big lies will follow the little ones. A successful president needs lots of tact and diplomacy. Senate and congress might be republican, but they are not Trumpist. They don't want to be unelectable for a generation.

InformalRoman · 22/01/2017 09:52

1000% behind the CIA and inauguration crowd if a million, a million and a half

So he's at least an order of magnitude out on both counts.

And then Spicer trying to tell the White House press corps what they should be reporting?

How to win friends and influence people. Bigly.

(my spell checker wants to change bigly to bigot Grin )

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 09:52

Perhaps that's what we've missed. Trump has declared Martian Law. Grin

motherinferior · 22/01/2017 09:54

Thing is, now if you produce the footage T-p et al will just scream FAKE, YOU HAIRY-LEGGED LIBERAL!!!!!

I was at least cheered by the fact my (genuinely beautiful) teenage daughters (in their denim dungarees and baggy sweaters and no makeup which PROVES THEY ARE FAKES) marched yesterday. (I met them coming home. We all had a beautiful day.)

QueenOfThorns · 22/01/2017 09:55

You're probably right gingerivy.

And Martian law is whatever Don says it is Shock

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 09:57

Pence will be president soon, big lies will follow the little ones

Tell lots of little lies, people believe them. That makes the big one much more believable.

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

Joseph Goebbels. Just saying.

MsHooliesCardigan · 22/01/2017 10:02

My 14 year old DD went to the march with twenty of her friends and her citizenship and English teachers. She said it was amazing. I would have loved to have gone but was working. It does feel like there is a real movement building to stand up to Trump's fake one.

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 10:02

The nazi correlations make me nervous. Every time he raises his fist my brains screams Heil. Why can't he bloody just wave like everyone else?

originalmavis · 22/01/2017 10:05

I don't think he is human. Maybe some kind of robot?

amispartacus · 22/01/2017 10:06

It does feel like there is a real movement building to stand up to Trump's fake one

This. It's inspiring. I hope the media can hold truth to power. Social media can work for everyone.

Formerpigwrestler9 · 22/01/2017 10:07

Anyone else feeling like reality has jumped the tracks and we're now in inhabiting a parrallel reality, 'many worlds' style?
Yes, but it's all fascinating and I can't wait to see what happens next

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 22/01/2017 10:07

I started to wonder if we should take any crumb of comfort from the possibility that the US becomes so mired in internal infighting that their capacity for action elsewhere is limited. However, as I was typing I realised that would be the ideal time for Putin to act on his expansionist tendencies. Sad whichever way you look at it, we are all going to hell in a handcart. There are no good outcomes.

GingerIvy · 22/01/2017 10:07

Please. There isn't enough brain bleach in the world to wipe out the mental image of him arriving tin the states Naked Terminator style.

The great thing about the internet and YouTube is people can be reminded of past events.

Memes are powerful

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 22/01/2017 10:14

Comical Ali seems quite gentle and meandering (albeit deluded) compared to Sean Spicer's ranty bile last night.

Lweji · 22/01/2017 10:14

I feel like a nickname coming for the Press Secretary. Grin

Anyone else noticed the speech similarities between Ali and Trump?

Formerpigwrestler9 · 22/01/2017 10:14

I don't think he will be able to maintain the lies, the only way to keep people that oppressed iis to have a north Korea set up where you are isolated from the rest of world and that way cannot prosper
American people want modern lives where they share the benefits of modern technology and can communicate freely with the rest of the word.

Trump is just too unsophisticated, too out of sync with the modern world

Lweji · 22/01/2017 10:16

I love Ali's face and straightening up when he says "they flew... like rats."

Anyway, anyone remembers what happened to him? Is he a Trump advisor?
