To not really understand why some people are so upset by transwomen using public toilets?

I'm sorry if this offends, but I really don't understand why this is such a contentious topic. I know transwomen and they just want to pop into a cubicle, do their business and leave. I understand that there is a fear of being attacked, but I honestly think if someone is of a mind to do that they'll do it whether dressed as a woman or not.

Where has somebody been accused of troll hunting?

almondpudding · 17/11/2016 02:20

And you called me a liar.

almondpudding · 17/11/2016 02:22

Sorry, I mean where has somebody been accused of trolling?

Reality and biology is that people like my girlfriend are regularly confronted and abused by people who believe in gender stereotypes, and that is what you are encouraging.

Trans people rely on those gender stereotypes to express their gender identity. Otherwise they would just look like their born sex. So by accepting that a biological male wearing a dress or make up is actually a woman, how are you not encouraging the stereotypes you claim to be devoting your life to abolishing?

venusinscorpio · 17/11/2016 02:23

And no it's not my right to be disagreed with that I'm concerned about, as you know perfectly well.

venusinscorpio · 17/11/2016 02:24

Believe me, I am not treating it as an airy debate. How arrogant.

venusinscorpio · 17/11/2016 02:27

That's the thing though, people expect women just to STFU and budge up. If that was considered unacceptable people would advocate for a third toilet.

almondpudding · 17/11/2016 02:27

No. It is not an airy debate. Your experiences are not more real than other people's.

People have asked questions that start how? You have done so yourself. That asks people to engage in hypothetical speculative situations in the future.

Nobody has said that even in a hypothetical situation trans women should be forced into men's loos, that women should have to strip for the police, that police should be stationed on the door of loos or that everyone would have to show ID to enter the loos all the time or that everyone can ask to see IDs. These things were not said.

Who's troll hunting? Confused

caryl

Are you saying it's just your friend who should be allowed in the ladies? I think I've missed something. Do you think that all transwomen who pass should be able to use the ladies?

venusinscorpio · 17/11/2016 02:29

Who is sending you PMs? It's certainly not me.

almondpudding · 17/11/2016 02:31

Nobody has bullied you, made personally abusive comments to you or suggested you are a troll on this thread.

People simply don't agree with you. That's difficult. I left a thread because of it recently. That doesn't mean I was bullied; it just meant It was a difficult thread for me.

venusinscorpio · 17/11/2016 02:32

How about you point out some of the personally abusive comments? I haven't seen any. Nothing remotely comparable to you calling posters liars and misogynistic twits.

almondpudding · 17/11/2016 02:33

I never PM someone, unless they PM me. I have not PMed you.

If someone is sending you abusive PMs, report them.

Datun · 17/11/2016 02:33

Oh god was that me caryl?? I refreshed my phone, and saw that it had put your name in a PM. I was reading your post and when I closed my phone it must've pressed one of the three buttons. I deleted it though. And didn't type anything.

Apologies if it was me. Just my phone being a git.

TotallyOuting · 17/11/2016 02:36

Nobody has said that even in a hypothetical situation trans women should be forced into men's loos

It has however been suggested that women who are unhappy with penises in the female toilets should just stay home. Hmm

Datun · 17/11/2016 02:37

Anyway. I think, for me, the party line is always going to be for pushing for three separate loos. Let's see how that goes down.

venusinscorpio · 17/11/2016 02:38

Yes, I will happily campaign alongside transactivists for third loos.

OlennasWimple · 17/11/2016 02:52

Datun - lucky you being able to send PMs - there's a thread over in Site Stuff about the problems lots of pp have been having today (including me), not able to send PMs (the option just isn't there on the posts)

OlennasWimple · 17/11/2016 02:55

I'm happy with third loos too, provided that they aren't disabled / parent and child / non-gender conforming loos Smile

Datun · 17/11/2016 02:59

If the TRAs hadn't been pushing for this bathroom business in the first place, none of this would have arisen. if they don't succeed, and we go back to normal sex segregation, with the possibility of a third toilet, I think all the belligerence will die down. The need for the activism will be removed.

Datun · 17/11/2016 03:00

OlennasWimple

I've seen that said before. For me, it seemed like a reasonable solution, because the infrastructure is already in place. Is it because it will disadvantage disabled people?
