How the hell do people clean bathroom only once a week?!

I'm genuinely interested here because I've read many a MN thread of ways in which to save time at home and almost always, people say clean the bathroom once a week! Now, I clean my bathroom everyday and even doing that the amount of scum I clean away each day surely would be unhygienic after a whole week? It leaves me baffled, I'm genuinely interested to know if the people that clean once a week have really dirty bathrooms by the end of it?! To put into perspective I thoroughly wipe the sink, toilet and bath surround - spray the bath and tiles and wash off before bleaching the toilet and wiping the floor which takes all of 10 mins. How do people get away with it?!

I don't think it's getting away with it. Some people don't have the time, or they just can't be arsed.

As long as it's basically clean, which a quick rinse and bit of cleaner down the loo will do, then a proper clean once a week will do me.

What scum? Where is it? DD does spray toothpaste around a bit and that needs switch with water when I next wash my hands, but other than that, my bathroom doesn't grow scum I a week, never mind a day. I live alone when DD is away at Uni though, so maybe with more people there's more scum. How many are you in the house? How many use the bathroom? Do you have more than one?

I presume they mean fully clean.
My worktop, shower, bath and tiles get cleaned weekly.

Daily, its just a wipe round the sink & loo and a bit of bleach.

I am lazy though

By not cleaning it for 6 days!

Maybe we leave everything neater because it doesn't get cleaned every day?

Maybe they are less grubby? There certainly isn't scum round my bath every day

Perhaps you generate more scum than most? I don't find there's a huge amount of scum after a week here.

I doubt mine even gets cleaned as often as that. It looks fine though, perfectly clean. There's only two of us though.

I only clean mine 'properly' once a week. Which means mopping the floor as well as the general wiping and bleaching, which I just do as and when - so probably every other day or so.

I live on my own, though, and DS is with me half of the week. It honestly doesn't get very dirty.

I clean the bathroom once a week when I'm working, maybe twice when I'm at home.

More to do than housework! Once a week here too! I don't vacuum every day either but shush don't tell!

Ours gets cleaned once a week and I can honestly say it's really not that scummy after 6 days. Maybe my kids are cleaner than they look!!

I work full time and have a toddler. Of course I don't clean the bathroom everyday. Anyway it doesn't need cleaning that often.

How many people use your bathroom OP? It's just me and my DH using ours. We have a cleaner come every two weeks although I do bleach the toilet on the week she isn't round. It's only a year old bathroom though.

Where is this scum collecting? Our bathrooms just don't get dirty enough to warrant daily cleaning, so maybe your family are particularly grimy!

i can't be arsed anymore with housework, since my kids have grown up, real like is much more exciting. i do run a rag around the floor and sink before my sunday bath, if i can be arsed.

I clean ours once or twice a week but if I'm honest it does sometimes look grubby in between.

I'm disabled and if my back's bad there's no way I can clean the bath so that can only be done when I'm on a good day. We don't use the bath much anyway as we prefer showers so I'm usually just cleaning dust off rather than scum. The sink and toilet I do more often but as I can't stand for long I tend to do one or other at a time. Basically my bathroom is very rarely clean from top to bottom but nobody seems to mind too much.
