How the hell do people clean bathroom only once a week?!

I'm genuinely interested here because I've read many a MN thread of ways in which to save time at home and almost always, people say clean the bathroom once a week! Now, I clean my bathroom everyday and even doing that the amount of scum I clean away each day surely would be unhygienic after a whole week? It leaves me baffled, I'm genuinely interested to know if the people that clean once a week have really dirty bathrooms by the end of it?! To put into perspective I thoroughly wipe the sink, toilet and bath surround - spray the bath and tiles and wash off before bleaching the toilet and wiping the floor which takes all of 10 mins. How do people get away with it?!

You clean it every day? Shock Are you that dirty? Grin I think there is no need for that!
I clean once a week, sometimes i spray sink and toilet seat during the week if i'm not too knackered. I like it sparkly and clean but usually am too tired to care.

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 01/09/2016 22:03

Properly cleaning a bathroom does not take 10 mins

I'd rather pay my cleaner to spend an hour a week doing a really thorough clean of all bathrooms once a week than fanny around for 10 mins every day doing a pointless 'quick clean'

cardibach · 01/09/2016 22:03

In terms of your query, OP, surely it makes no difference whether it is the poster or her cleaner who actually cleans the bathroom? It's being done once a week. It doesn't need more. Neither does yours. Mine doesn't even get once a week.

Lweji · 01/09/2016 22:03

Lol well that says it all - you've got a cleaner!

And?

A cleaner cleans once a week or so.

Mine takes 4 hours, which is about what it would take me if I did it (although I prefer not to).

Cleaner or before I had one, I'd only clean my bathroom at most once a week.

JudyCoolibar · 01/09/2016 22:04

I suspect it takes more than ten minutes by the time you've gone up there, got the cleaning stuff out, done your cleaning, rinsed it away, put cleaning stuff away etc. Otherwise you're doing it so superficially that that alone may well account for the scum build-up.

Pinkbabe1 · 01/09/2016 22:05

Seriously Hedda, do you know what AIBU? Is about?? Are you new to MN because you seem to have completely missed that AIBU is mainly lighthearted chat to which people generally don't take too seriously unless you get some serious fucker on here

Whoever goes to bed last squirts the loo with bleach.

Anyone who thinks the bath looks a bit grim is absolutely welcome to clean it themselves.

If I'm waving the hoover around in the bedroom the bathroom sometimes gets a quick mid-week suck too.

Sorted.

HeddaLettuce · 01/09/2016 22:07

You don't sound very lighthearted, you sound snippy and arsey. And you're coming across as kinda smug cos you run a flash wipe around your jacks once a day. Who doesn't?

Pinkbabe1 · 01/09/2016 22:07

Just to clarify - the bit about the cleaner was in response to the comment that I should play with my kids instead of cleaning my bathroom - when the commenter has got a cleaner so time spent cleaning and playing with kids is irrelevant to her

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 01/09/2016 22:08

no chat is lighthearted, AIBU is brutal.

cressetmama · 01/09/2016 22:08

Soft water here, and I haven't been in the bath..... ever. Shower daily, though, scrub the shower stall every few days; loo cleaner and brush after #2s, post flush, and a wipe around with a microfibre cloth to remove finger marks on the high gloss/glass surfaces. Floor mopped at regular intervals. I do intensive, infrequently otherwise. And my family reckon I have OCD.

Lweji · 01/09/2016 22:08

Oh, dear.

You definitely do not know AIBU. It's the least lighthearted section of MN!
It's the home of the viperist vipers. It's the place people fear to thread on.
It's the place people start threads with "please be gentle".

If you are going to post on AIBU, be afraid, be very afraid. everybody knows that

Pinkbabe1 · 01/09/2016 22:08

Hedda - yes your completely correct Grin you are new obviously

Tutuloves · 01/09/2016 22:08

I must say everyone I know cleans their bathroom once a week. I thought clean people clean it once a week. My Inlaws. My family on both sides. Everyone cleans the bathroom once a week and our houses are always clean.
I didn't know people cleaned them every day. Seems extreme to me.

HuckleberryQuinn · 01/09/2016 22:09

Does an overdose on cleaning fumes cause a case of arsiness?

Lweji · 01/09/2016 22:09

Ups, viperest of vipers.

I don't want the grammar police on me either

Pinkbabe1 · 01/09/2016 22:10

It is fucking brutal I will agree with you on that! JEYSUS!

OP posts:
dontcallmethatyoucunt · 01/09/2016 22:10

You should though. Do something better with those 60 hours.

BIWI · 01/09/2016 22:10

And why pick on just one poster, when many of us have said the same kind of thing?

yeOldeTrout · 01/09/2016 22:10

Well... most people don't

exercise even 20 minutes aerobically 3x a week
eat 5 portions of F+Veg every day
eat fish 3x a week
make sure to practise good sleep hygiene
avoid pointless arguments on the Internet

I mean.. .those things take on avg less than 10 minutes per day each: but do people do them? Pah fuck no they don't do them.

HeddaLettuce · 01/09/2016 22:10

New? if you call 12 years new, I suppose I am.

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 01/09/2016 22:11

Ok, cross post Grin

Lweji · 01/09/2016 22:11

Do something better with those 60 hours.

Yes, get to know AIBU.
Instead of making totally misfired comments about MN newbies.

Wink
Pinkbabe1 · 01/09/2016 22:14

Pmsl - ok when I'm cleaning my bathroom tomorrow I will think to myself "those lucky people on MN that don't seem to accumulate so much dust, bathroom scum and can clean once a week - I am being totally U to clean this everyday" and I shall get on with it. Nice lighthearted chat folks! dear god
