We made plans last night to move into one of Portia's mum's properties and make her give us scones with cream and jam. It'll be brilliant!!!!

better only just under a year. They did try to sell it before renting but wanted £40k more than the next door house had just sold for. So no-one bought it. I always knew they might try to sell again but at the time i needed to escape it was the only house to rent around here, that was available immediately. I didnt even view it prior to renting! I fell in love with this house as soon as I walked in the door (despite the filth that took a few days of professional cleaners time to get through). Its the first house I've ever lived in and not minded being home alone.

TBF, it's the Sunday Sport, who also found a B52 on the moon and Elvis & Marilyn Monroe shacked up together.

Ruby and AGL I feel for you. Letting agents are c*&&@@ts. We had to move into rented accommodation for 6 months as DH was relocated through work. So, despite him being a bit of a far cat (sorry) and the company paying our rent, and going through an executive relocation company, and us downsizing into, quite frankly, a fairly cruddy place, the agents treated us like moronic scum with Ebola. The back door fell off it's hinges at 7pm one Friday night so I had to call out an emergency locksmith. It took 3 months and threats from our relocation company for them to reimburse me the £100. C&!&@@@&&@TS!!!!

That's awful, Ruby. Does your son go to school nearby? It's horrible to be forced out of an area where you have put down roots.

Housing - ie lack of decent, affordable housing is the principal problem of our time.

Yes, there is such a scarcity of flats - even grotty ones.

better DS does but its easy enough to drive to from a lot of areas round here.

Vanilla its crap. I have the added issue of being on housing benefit and wanting to stay living in an area where HB tenants are not allowed and I have a dog too.
