Anyone else not comfortable with this being counted as a crime committed by a woman? And really not comfortable with this person not going to jail? I don't care if there are no female specific classes, (there is a reason for that btw, because women don't do this shit) this person was male enough to commit the crime they are male enough to go to men's prison.

What an appaling case. Is there a petition to request a proper sentence?

The judge said she was literally a different person! Fuck off. The same person. Is there now the suggestion surgery can make you literally a different person?

This person should have a sentance that fits their crime. The rehabilitation for males would be fine for a person born male, male when committed the crimes and still male. Whatever surgery Gina has had, and whatever was worn to court (why do we even need to know that) Gina is biologically male.

We really must stop this madness now. I am all in favour of trans people being safe and having the same protection as everyone else but we cannot deny biology, it really is just crazy.

I just can't wait for someone really important to shout 'The emperor has no clothes on.' Please let it be soon.

Sorry for swearing, just really fed up! Blush

There's absolutely no remorse, none what so ever. Can't believe she has the nerve to say "I'm moving on, I've been treated appallingly"
Fuck off! You got away with sexual abuse of a child, and you aren't sorry! Which makes it all the worse
And only two years on the SOR? The legal system in this country is a joke

You do know that chromosomes can't change don't you

Yes I am aware that chromosomes can't change. However, a proportion of those who undergo gender reassignment surgery are born with genitalia that do not match their chromosomes.

As far as the law is concerned someone who has gender dysphoria, has lived in the acquired gender for at least 2 years and intends to live in that gender until death can apply for a gender recognition certificate. They can also apply for a certificate if they have changed gender under the law of another country. If their application is successful they are legally of the acquired gender regardless of chromosomes, etc.

This person should have a sentence that fits their crime

I agree completely. Based on information in the press this appears to be a category 2 crime with increased culpability. That means the starting point for sentencing should have been 3 years imprisonment with the sentence falling in the range 2-6 depending on aggravating and mitigating factors. Whilst judges can go outside the sentencing guidelines in exceptional cases the judge in this case appears to have gone seriously off piste. I hope the prosecution appeal the sentence.

That's intersex, not transgender. The numbers of intersex people with ambiguous genitalia are tiny and really have nothing to do with transgender ideology. Transgender people are not intersex. Conflating the two issues is unhelpful and deliberate obfuscating the debate.

BeyondBeyondBeyondBeyondBeyond · 06/08/2016 08:59

And if you have a little Google, you'll find that people who are intersex are massively pissed off at their actual medical problem being appropriated like in your post

prh47bridge · 06/08/2016 11:11

I am aware of the difference. However, some posters on this thread appear to believe that someone born with male genitalia is always male even if they have female chromosomes.

MephistoMarley · 06/08/2016 11:50

Come on. We aren't talking about intersex so why bring it up? The vast, vast majority of people seeking genital reassignment surgery are fully one sex and want to approximate the other. 100% of transgender people are not intersex and are fully and unambiguously one sex.
Even the scenario you are talking about is a misrepresentation. People who are intersex tend to have ambiguous genitalia - it's almost never as simple as someone having XY chromosomes and a fully female appearing body (or vice versa) and when it is - it's still not the same as a fully male trans person wanting to have a surgically constructed neo vagina.
