Anyone else not comfortable with this being counted as a crime committed by a woman? And really not comfortable with this person not going to jail? I don't care if there are no female specific classes, (there is a reason for that btw, because women don't do this shit) this person was male enough to commit the crime they are male enough to go to men's prison.

I really don't get the transgender hate on here. Yes, she did appalling things, but my mum was an accessory to similar appalling things. I do agree that she should be in jail, but psychologically she's female and her gender has nothing to do with the acts.

As far as I can work out, she has had gender reassignment surgery? The article states sex change but I'm never sure what that exactly means. I know it's a controversial subject but my belief is if you have a penis you should be in a male prison, vagina in a female prison. Just what makes the most sense to me.

Regardless of what kind of prison she was put in, she should definitely be in jail.

They should definitely have gone to jail. The statements from the judge were a disgrace, minimising the trauma to the victim and saying there were no relevant courses ffs
As for the discussion about which jail, where is the evidence that they don't have a penis? I didn't read anything that gave details of their surgery. I wouldn't assume surgery means no penis when it could just mean breast implants. A wing for trans prisoners would be best.

It's preposterous to think you can get away with a crime by altering aspects of your person. You might as well let off Yew Tree et al people on the grounds of, "Well, they're old now."

The crime was committed, and if found guilty the perpetrator serves the appropriate sentence. As others have said, the extent of the sex change should dictate where the sentence is served.

This person lived 58 years as a man, committed a sexual crime against a child as a man. Who says that perpetrators programmes for men wouldn't be appropriate?
