Visiting family aibu

Visiting family, they are young and don't have children so the house is not in the slightest bit child proof.
Aibu to get annoyed at family member when said family member tells my dc no and don't do that. They are acting like normal toddlers running and climbing and wrestling it's what the dc do. It's not my dc fault that there are no toys to play with.

You should have taken toys! YABU. Control your children - you should be the one telling them "No" and "Don't do that"!

ThisIsStartingToBoreMe · 16/07/2016 13:10

It's annoying I know. This is why I just invite people to my house rather than go to theirs. My house my rulesSmile

Onesieisthequeensselfie · 16/07/2016 13:10

YABU. Why don't your dcs have toys to play with? That is your responsibility not your host's. How long are you visiting for? If it's more than a couple of days, I'd go out and buy some toys for your dcs before everyone goes bonkers.

EvansAndThePrince · 16/07/2016 13:12

YABU, you knew they didn't have kids, why would they have toys? You should have taken toys with you and you should be enforcing boundaries for other people's homes (i.e. NOT wrestling and climbing).

I realise they're toddlers, I have one of my own, but I don't let her behave like she does at home when they're in other people's homes

PotteringAlong · 16/07/2016 13:12

It's their house; not having toddlers destroying it is completely reasonable. If you're not stopping them what do you think will happen? And why have you not taken toys with you?

Deedeegonemad · 16/07/2016 13:13

They won't let me leave some toys there, i only visit for an hour or so. The garden is tiny and the dc do go out there but they get bored and like to come and see what the grown ups are up to.

MrsJoeyMaynard · 16/07/2016 13:13

Didn't you bring any toys, books, etc with you? Surely you wouldn't expect a relative without children to keep toys in their home, unless children frequently stay with them?

Energumene · 16/07/2016 13:13

YABU. They don't have kids, don't necessarily know what toddlers are like, and it shouldn't be up to them to be making sure your kids have toys and are taught to respect their home and their rules.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/07/2016 13:14

You are right; it's not your children's fault. It's yours.

MrsJoeyMaynard · 16/07/2016 13:15

They won't let me leave some toys there

So why not bring toys with you and then take them home again with you?

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 16/07/2016 13:15

They won't let me leave some toys there

Why on earth would they? You can take something to amuse your children.

Onesieisthequeensselfie · 16/07/2016 13:15

They won't let me leave some toys there

Hmm Why should you leave toys there and not bring them with you? This is a very strange thread.

Onesieisthequeensselfie · 16/07/2016 13:16

I can't even begin to say how unreasonable you are.

ilovesooty · 16/07/2016 13:18

What are they climbing on?

ThatsMyStapler · 16/07/2016 13:18

YABU take toys for your DC - take toys when you take your DC and then take them home again

And if you're not stopping your DC doing naughty things, (or possibly dangerous) then someone clearly has to

Deedeegonemad · 16/07/2016 13:18

My mother let's me leave toys at her house so does dgrandmother. I have a tiny car and don't want to constantly fill it with toys.

It's not my dc fault that there are no toys to play with.

It's not their fault you didn't think to take anything with you.

Why should their house get trashed?

YABVU

Deedeegonemad · 16/07/2016 13:20

They're climbing on the couch, it's second hand and we gave it to them. It's our old one

Not their issues. It's yours.

ilovesooty · 16/07/2016 13:20

For goodness sake. You're not even travelling on public transport. This has to be a joke.
