I just can't bear it, DH loves it and thinks it's bizarre I don't. I hate the violence the sickening violence and debasement oh dear I've gone Victorian
I try and go out the room or read MN but he keeps saying "oh you missed such and such do such and such".
Maybe I should ltb Hmm
I think the dragons and wolves are pretty though. Grin

YANBU - 100% with you on that one - cannot see the fascination with it at all😬

longdiling · 27/06/2016 23:06

Yeah I agree. I've read and enjoyed all the books but the TV series is far too graphic for me. It's a bit like a cheap porn version of the books.

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 27/06/2016 23:07

I thank goodness, I thought I was going to be alone and flamed for this Grin

YANBU. I forced myself to watch the first series last year because everyone told me to. With each episode I thought, maybe I'll 'get it' this time. I didn't. It's shit and repetitive and gratuitous. With you re wolves and dragons though.

HRHlikeahornyponywould · 27/06/2016 23:09

Yanbu

Programme for male fantasies

BertrandRussell · 27/06/2016 23:09

I would love to watch it- but the sexual violence and pornographic sensibility is just hideous.

Shouldwestayorshouldwegonow · 27/06/2016 23:10

God no my ds's love it but not for me or the dds.

LaurieFairyCake · 27/06/2016 23:10

I look away from the violence - didn't watch any of the Battle of the Bastards scene

Onedaftmonkey · 27/06/2016 23:11

Thank u! I thought i was the only one. Gore porn and terrible story lines.

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 27/06/2016 23:13

Tbh the sex seems to be all punishment so rape then ? How is this ok to watch Hmm and as for the violence I gave the bunny extra food after seeing some dogs eat a man because they were hungry last week Blushshe's as successful as me at dieting
Btw I just won a £5 as Sil said no one would agree with me Grin

FlyingElbows · 27/06/2016 23:14

The Battle of the Bastards was hair raising brilliant. Ok it's not for the faint hearted and the first season is unnecessarily tit heavy (and was criticised for being so) but as a story it's brilliant. I thought it was shit at first too but I love it now.

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 27/06/2016 23:15

It would be all sorted if they could sit down with a biscuit and a nice cup of tea Grin

Zucker · 27/06/2016 23:16

I thought I was alone in this. I can't stomach the violence and gore at all.

Sweetandsour93 · 27/06/2016 23:18

I completely agree with you OP, it just seems like excessive violence and porn to me. Yanbu, I think it's overrated.

Griphook · 27/06/2016 23:18

Battle of the bastards was an amazingly brilliant.
Such good directing.
The story line is pretty good too.

What type of thing do you like to watch?

Yes, battle of the bastards was brilliant - I just put my hand in front of my eyes for the middle of the screen - nothing happens outside the Middle that's violent but I can still watch it Grin

Janeymoo50 · 27/06/2016 23:20

My wife got up 1 hour early this morning, to watch it. I made her toast and marmalade. It is, even as a non GOT fan, amazing.

VestalVirgin · 27/06/2016 23:21

I already found the books too violent and rape-y. From everything I hear, the series is worse with regard to violence and misogyny, so ... YANBU.

Hate the fact that of all fantasy book series, THIS one was made into a TV series. Would have watched pretty much anything else. But GoT? Nope.

Dragons and wolves would be nice, but I can't stand the rape.

HicDraconis · 27/06/2016 23:22

YABU. The books were excellent and the TV dramatisation is superb. It's meant to be gritty, it's a really good adaptation.

Bollocks to it being "a programme for male fantasies" - there are equal numbers of women who love watching it.

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 27/06/2016 23:22

I genuinely do not understand how people can find it pleasurable to watch other people inflict pain, misery, horror and suffering on others to the extent that it is on GoT.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 27/06/2016 23:24

It is much less boobs-and-porn this season. Thankfully.

Flumpsnlumpsnstuff · 27/06/2016 23:25

I watch all sorts and violence doesn't normally get me but this seems over the top to me. It's like the sickest thoughts of humanity played out with special effects to make it even worse. And I absolutely hate the children dying and getting hurt, it makes me ill. Sorry to all you fans

OP posts:
Alisvolatpropiis · 27/06/2016 23:28

The first season was very much tits and dragons, lots of death but it isn't so like that now.

Well, it is still violent but given the context it would be difficult to convincingly do it without seeing actual violence, it can't all be hinted at. Although some is.

EveOnline2016 · 27/06/2016 23:29

From a historical point most of it is true.

Being born out of wedlock would equal a person a bastard.

I'm only on the first series, but so far I am gripped
