I use it and don't have any complaints. Much prefer it to hotmail.

Thebrowntrout · 16/04/2016 15:52

I hate it. It's impossible to work out, impossible to sign out of, just impossible. Full stop!

I really hate it Grin

I think you will find roughly 1/7th of the world's population disagree with you Grin

SwedishEdith · 16/04/2016 15:54

What's impossible?

Trills · 16/04/2016 15:54

Hpw very dare you?

I love gmail. And I quite like my Google calendar and docs as well.

Sparrowlegs248 · 16/04/2016 15:54

I got a new phone and realised that you can't sign.out of it. You have to delete ALL linked apps from the device. Just why?!

Thebrowntrout · 16/04/2016 15:58

That's what i am also struggling with notta

Pissing me right off Grin

I also struggle to do basic stuff with it.

Gmail takes ages to load on my laptop, which is admittedly ageing a little now, but everything else works well enough.

CodyKing · 16/04/2016 16:00

DC all use gmail as part of their school work - you have to have SC1 password to sign out so DC 2 can do their work !!! And God forbid you forget the damn password!!!

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2016 16:01

Oh I am so glad someone said this. It's awful. I can't really work it on my phone. I only found out recently there was a 'social' folder it was bunging random emails in.

I have a Gmail account for 2 things.

But for everything else I have very user friendly Sky/Yahoo.

DoreenLethal · 16/04/2016 16:05

On my phone it drives me crazy. Every fucking email is linked so if I load one up, it shows the original email not the latest response. So I have to then expand them all and scroll down. I know what the fucking original said you fucking bunch of fucking spanners, I want to see what the fucking latest fucking response to the fucking question is. Twats.

CodyKing · 16/04/2016 16:07

Gmail causes Tourette's in some people - myself included !!!

ConfuciousSayWhat · 16/04/2016 16:08

I like it and find it really user friendly

TresDesolee · 16/04/2016 16:08

I think it's not Gmail you hate, it's Google. Some android phones are incredibly tenacious about forcing you to do absolutely everything through a google account (which doubles as your gmail account). If you have separate work and social gmail accounts, heaven help you.

Apple is quite annoying in this regard, but not as bad as Google!

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2016 16:09

Oh Doreen that is what I find infuriating. All the linking up and expanding and rummaging about.
It's better on the laptop. Sort of.

KathyBeale · 16/04/2016 16:11

I hate it too. I hate that you can't arrange your emails in alphabetical order. Such a simple thing...

CurlsLDN · 16/04/2016 16:11

If it's the conversation view setting the bothers you (where an email thread is bunched together instead of shown as individual new emails as described above)
You can turn it off support.google.com/mail/answer/5900?hl=en

Sparklingbrook · 16/04/2016 16:12

YY my phone is obsessed with Google Tres.

ouryve · 16/04/2016 16:12

Knocks the spots off Yahoo mail.

Not that that's so difficult.

DoreenLethal · 16/04/2016 16:13

Curls - not on the phone app you can't.

Trills · 16/04/2016 16:14

I am now intrigued as to why you would want to arrange your emails in alphabetical order.

Alphabetical by subject line or by the name of the sender?

CurlsLDN · 16/04/2016 16:15

And, to turn off that mysterious social folder, you just disable the tab (I think it would be easiest to do this on desktop, then it would automatically stop it on your phone)
support.google.com/mail/answer/3055016?hl=en

I use gmail at work, And find both these settings useful as it makes my inbox far more efficient, so rather than clicking through every new email of a conversation I just see the top level. However I can totally see that if you're not receiving several hundred emails a day that all need to be prioritised it can seem like a disruption to a simple click and read

CurlsLDN · 16/04/2016 16:16

Apologies Doreen, I guess you'd need to change the settings on desktop and then it will automatically stop on your phone. However I did disable conversation view through my phone, but it probably differs on different types of phone

KeemaNaanAndCurryOn · 16/04/2016 16:16

I fee;l the same. I have hotmail and gmail on my iPad and the gmail is a hard to navigate piece of crap. I worked in IT for 20 years and can say hand on heart it's not user stupidity.
